BÆRUMS VERK In 1610, Paul Smelter was given the King’s commission to set up a melting house, and the first smelting furnace in the country was built here. During the ironwork’s heyday, everything from cannon balls and cannons to bar iron were produced. Later items, such as ovens, hardware and machine parts gradually became the mainstays of production. Amongst others, Bærums Verk was owned by Norwegians first Prime Minister, Peder Anker, and the Works proved quite important for Norway during the Nordic war. Today we welcome you to these unique surroundings from the 1600’s industrial era. We offer you about 50 shops, craftsmen, workshops, galleries and eating establishments. Shopping, craftsmanship, history and culture are intertwined to give you exciting cultural and social experiences. We offer glassblowing, blacksmiths, galleries, handmade-designs, a museum that houses a unique collection of antique cast-iron ovens, contemporary sculptures and a modern mall. Since 1968, HOK has been committed to Norwegian and international art, with a broad exhibition, music and performance program, and a central art collection. Located in scenic surroundings, HOK includes 3500 m2 of exhibition space, HOK Lab, meeting rooms, a museum shop and Resturant.

Engineerium is an interactive technology and science center located at Fornebu in Baerum, just outside Oslo. Learn more about the history of the Aker companies and the adventure of oil and gas in Norway. Explore science phenomena in theory and real life, models of big platforms and tiny pieces of equipment. Play and learn about different energy sources, and test your knowledge among our 37 interactive installations. Use us for everything from school visits, family outings and birthday parties to team buldings and marketing events! Our second floor holds conference facilities, including seven meeting room and is available for events and meetings.
