Cuma was the oldest Greek colony of the West surrounded by an imposing fortification of tuff blocks. The archaeological park currently includes the acropolis, the sacred area where temples are located and the Antro della Sibilla, a dark place in which the oracle prophesies its prophecies. The guided tour will unfold in the upper part of the park currently open to the public, including the acropolis with its temples and the Sibyl's Cave, to end with a splendid panoramic view of the beach below and the agora. Very few remains can still be seen today of the port and of the ancient city of Miseno. The greatest monument we have come to is certainly the Piscina Mirabilis, a colossal tank built for the water supply of the imperial fleet. You will have the opportunity to visit the ancient cistern excavated entirely in the tuff and admire its impressive 5-nave structure, capable of holding up to 12,000 cubic meters of water.

Exclusions: Entrance ticket to the excavations, Private transportation

6. The Phlegraean Fields: Origins & History with your Local Archaeologist

Sito Archeologico di Cuma, SP 164, 1, 80078 Pozzuoli NA, Italy Naples Grand Tour

Cuma is one of the most valuable places in the whole territory of campi Flegrei, witness to the true origin of the settlements in that area. Involving a relatively small area, everything in Cuma will take you to the discovery of history. The city of Pozzuoli, a few kilometers away from the city of Naples, still retains much of its ancient grandeur. Walking through the historic center of the city, you will still encounter the traces of the great monumental buildings of the ancient city: you will have the feeling of walking in a "little Rome", among the ruins and remains of a wonderful and lively city. A wonderful walk through history, accompanied by the sound of the waves of the sea. The baths of Baia are a wonderful complex of buildings and spaces, gradually descending towards the sea. They do not present themselves as thermal systems, or lodgings, or villas or simple temples dedicated to deities: it is a set of all these things, unchanged over the centuries.

Inclusions: Guided tour with an archaeologist and licensed guide.

Exclusions: All Fees and Taxes, Entrance tickets are not included in the price.

I have enjoyed several tours with Raffaele. All have been extremely informative and he has pointed out things that would have not been noticed without him. Additionally, his command of history helps make what we see understandable in context.
