The nine islands that make up the Azores are in fact the peaks of some of the world's tallest mountains, reaching from deep beneath the Atlantic. The once-uninhabited, volcanic archipelago now hosts thousands of tourists every year who flock to the islands for sun, sand and verdant mountain scenery. From the beaches of Praia da Vitoria to the bustling marina of Horta, to the bubbling volcanic ground "ovens" of Furnas, these islands offer unparalleled--and unusual--adventures to discover.

The best way hands down to learn about this amazing island is to book the full day tour with Antonio. He is so knowledgeable and professional. It only took until lunch time, to realize that we wanted to extend our time with him, so we scheduled 2 more days of tours that he customized listening to our interests. Bonuses: photography tips that he shares along the way, his fantastic stories, the company van is comfortable and luxurious, lunch at local places, many recommendations. We feel like we made a true friend on the island. I highly recommend any tour with Antonio.

Spend a day exploring hidden gems of São Miguel Island, away from the big crowds! The island of São Miguel is beautiful everywhere and has a lot to see besides the super famous attractions. Tour in comfort by minivan in a small group led by an expert guide. Drive through the quiet roads of the inner island surrounded by forests and green pastures. See the native vegetation of the Azores in well-preserved areas and learn about their uses in the early history of the islands. From ample views from mountain tops, to waterfalls, cliffs, a small lake, this tour goes to many amazing places that are not part of the main tourist itineraries. This tour is accessible to everyone and doesn’t require difficult walks.
Inclusions: Lunch included with drinks, dessert and espresso

Loved our Hidden Gems tour so much we ended up scrapping our other plans last minute in order to add the East Tour including Furnas w/ lunch tour. As always, the tour guides (we had Filipe on one tour and Miguel on the other) are very knowledgeable, speak fluent English, are super friendly, and really go above and beyond (like they'll carry your babies for you. Seriously). The vans are spacious and comfortable, the prices are more than reasonable, and the sights you will see are priceless. I cannot say enough good things about these tours- a great way to see the island, learn something about its history and culture, take in breathtaking scenery and to just RELAX!

You didn´t have the time to read your guidebook and want to see as much as possible of the island in a day? If you don´t want to rent a car, or just want to relax and stay away from having to navigate in a foreign place, just let a local like me do this for you. Believe me it is a great way for you to get to know the ways around the island. I know the island better than no other, and I will take you to all of our favorite places around: volcanos, thermal pools, waterfalls, lakes and breathtaking viewpoints. I will show and explain to you this little natural paradise I call home, in the way I myself like to see it and experience it. You can choose to navigate the Center & West or Center & East of the island. It is not possible to see all of the island in one day, but you can book this experience twice for 2 full days of exploring all the island.
Inclusions: Private transportation, Bottled water
Exclusions: Entrance Fees to Thermal Pools and Lava Caves
Tour guide was fantastic--very knowledgeable and very interesting. Wanted to thank him for the act of kindness-he gave lunch leftovers to a hungry cat-thank you so much for that!

My wife and I had pre-booked this trip, and along with another couple, we were picked up at the cruise terminal. The weather was poor but was forecast to get better as the morning went on. Knowing this, our friendly, knowledgeable guide reversed his normal route, such that we visited the volcanic basalt rock formations at Ponta da Ferraria first - albeit in the pouring rain. From there it was a tour and stop for coffee at the village of Mosteiros. As the weather started to lift, we headed inland to the northern edge of the caldera above the Blue Lagoon, sitting just below the cloud level. From there it was down into Sete Cidades, and then back up the other side, by now in full sunshine. From there it was back to Ponta Delgada and abrief tour of the town. All-in-all the tour was excellent value, and we saw a lot more than others on the cruise ship who had taken the standard minibus tour.

This was the most beautiful, amazing and fun canyoning ever! Paolo and Marita were amazing guides who were looking after us, always gave options to do an abseiling if you don't want to do a jump and we felt very safe. I am personally scared of heights but they made me feel comforable and I did 3 jumps. For the adventures one's, there is also high jumps of 8 meters and amazing waterfalls to abseil down. We received amazing pictures and videos! Would highly recommend to anyone, even if you have never done a canyoning! You will be in a paradise of jungle, water and beautiful nature!

Me and my girlfriend did a Sete Cidades half day quad bike tour through off-roads around the Azore's lakes. It was splendid! We weren't as experienced with the quad bikes as Filipe, so he started with a lower pace and increased as we got more comfortable. We originally scheduled it to a Thursday morning, but due to the better weather conditions on Wednesday, he suggested us to reschedule it and I'm glad we did! The views were astonishing due to the good weather and Filipe told some really interesting tales and curious facts at the trip pauses. We really liked the experience and encourage others to give it a try! The gist of it: if you're planning to get into all the Sete Cidades viewpoints by car, this is definitely a better call! Jose
