The majestic Austrian Alps stretch across the country, an awe-striking area of Ice Age valleys, verdant heaths and alluvial cones within Europe's largest national park, 700-square-mile Hohe Tauern. Taking in the dramatic cities of Salzburg and Innsbruck and the beautiful province of Tirol, home to spectacular skiing and hiking, as well as Gross Glockner, Austria's highest peak, and some of the world's best winter and summer sports playgrounds, the Austrian Alps are an outdoor lover's paradise.

See ‘Sound of Music’ filming locations, Obersalzberg, and the Austrian Lakes on a private day trip from Salzburg. The action-packed day includes visits to Schloss Leopoldskron, Hellbrunn Castle, Lake Wolfgangsee, and Mondsee — all sites immortalized in the ‘Sound of Music’ film. Travel to Obersalzberg, too, and learn about the mountain retreat during the days of Hitler’s Third Reich. Access to the Eagle’s Nest isn’t included, but there’s ample time for you to visit it, if you wish. From November until about May 10th (depends on the snow conditions), the Eagle's Nest direct access road is closed, alternatively we offer to visit the Rossfeld summit instead. The Sound of Music hiking scene was filmed at Rossfeld. From this vantage point, soak in panoramic views of the stunning Austrian and Bavarian Alps and the nearby Eagle's Nest. Feel free to choose this option also when Eagle's Nest is opened if you prefer a much less crowded, more local site than the Eagle's Nest.

Inclusions: Professional local private guide, Hotel pickup and drop-off, Guaranteed to skip the long lines, Private tour

Exclusions: Bus and elevator to the Eagle's Nest, EUR 16,50 p.p.

This tour was not my list even though I knew about it. It rained so we did it. OH MY GOD, wow that was time well spent. The travel distance going into the mine was unbelieveable. Seemed it went on forever. The slide was so smooth, something you can not do in the states, we went down as a family. That was fun to be together to experience. Well worth your time. In fact we are going back to the region and I have researched other salt mines and we are going to them also.
