Mount Majura Vineyard

Mount Majura Vineyard is a 9.3ha single vineyard winery and cellar door. Known for Tempranillo along with Canberra’s best varietals Shiraz and Riesling while also having a range of lesser known varietals such as Mondeuse and Graciano. Seated wine tastings are offered seven days and can be booked through our website. Small cheese and charcuterie plates accompany the tasting, we do not have a cafe or restaurant. Take a self guided tour through the vineyard or book your stay through The Naked Cubby. The vineyard is about 2 km from the northern end of the Majura Road, or about 9 km north from Canberra Airport. Open 7 days 10am-5pm.

A friend recommended this winery as they have a Pinot Gris. It is a very pleasant place with outside or inside tables set up for tasting their 15 wines. It is $15 to taste which includes a generous tasting plate, cheeses, crackers and meat. The lady was very friendly and took the time to explain each wine in detail and also answer questions even though she was looking after 4 couples at once. Area is set up for social distancing and all tasting are seated. Several of the wines were excellent. Especially the Pinot Gris, hubby enjoyed the TPG and a few of the reds. Several toilets and very clean. Wheel chair friendly.

The staff at Lerida Estate - Mel, John and Bec on our visit - were really friendly and clearly interested in providing an enjoyable experience for guests. We went for the wine tasting and the young sommelier, John, was enthusiastic and knowledgeable. His genuine and disarming approach complimented the terrific wines perfectly. It's been a few years since our last visit and I really appreciate what they've done to enhance the amenity of the cellar door. With the dining area now clearly defined in the barrel room it makes for a more relaxing and safely distanced approach for wine tastings, utilising the superb architecture of this building wonderfully. Do it!

Looking for an outing on a public holiday we found Pankhurst Wines open. Great selection to try and buy. Very much a working winery where you are in amongst the barrels and heart of the winery. Fantastic information about the suffragettes to browse whilst tasting. Definitely worth a visit whilst on The Canberra region. Informative and friendly hosts!
