Every year thousands of hipsters, groupies, and die-hard fans flock to Austin for the annual South by Southwest festival, which has catapulted the Texas city up the must-visit charts for many travelers. The sandstone Capitol building is symbolic of the Lone Star State’s "bigger is better" mentality, featuring a gorgeous whispering gallery rotunda and 22 acres of grounds. Cool off with a dip in Barton Springs, a huge natural limestone pool that’s fed by underground sources.

This is about an hour and a half show. I guarantee you will be laughing from the beginning to the end. Magician is also very entertaining and does a amazing job we sat right in the front row get there early. We could never figure out how he was doing the magic. All I can say is awesome show. You will not be disappointed.

We are in the business of improvisational theatre. We make up all our comedy, plays, and sketches on the spot (unless otherwise noted). Short form, long form, Chicago-Style, NY-Style, CA-Style, Austin-Style - we do it all (especially Austin-Style, it's our specialty). We host and produce improv shows Thursday through Sunday. For some of the shows, we invite independent groups to perform (everything you see on Thursday night, for instance) and some of the shows we personally produce (everything you see on Saturday night, for instance). In addition, the Hideout is downtown Austin's oldest independent coffee house. We are open morning to night, weekdays and weekends and serve beer, wine, fresh sandwiches, pastries, ice cream, as well as an assortment of beverages and coffee drinks. We proudly feature vegan ice cream from our friends at Sweet Ritual and our specialty craft cocktails were designed by Laura Nixon of Bad Dog Barcraft. You can bring food and drink from the coffee house up into the theatre to enjoy during a performance!
Tucked away in a coffeeshop this theater is small, but delivers. The cast were outstanding and the show was amazing. This was the first time we attended an improv show and were blown away! The show we saw ran about 2 hours with an intermission. The seating is first come first serve, but the theater room isn't very big so you'll get a good view regardless of where you sit. If you're looking for something great to do in downtown Austin, check this place out and help support these artists! By the way, you can get paid parking at the Bank of America parking garage (even after hours) for about $7.00. It's about a block away from the theater.

Went to see the Sklar Brothers Nov 14th with someone who I thought was more than a friend. The club itself was nice and it was a fun show. A lot of great talent up on the stage. We both enjoyed the show. I'd definitely recommend Cap City to anyone looking for a great night of comedy. Get tickets early for the reserved seating. Just beware this may not be the best venue for a date, unless you already established a relationship. My date was very reserved and focused on the show instead of both of us focused on each other. I tried to grab her attention but apparently it wasn't enough. I got put in the friend zone immediately after this venue. If she wanted more passion from me while at the show, she could've gave me a hint. I'll remember next time to turn up the heat and provide more passion and intimacy on the next person I take here. :)

Underground comedy club featuring local and national acts in improv, sketch and stand up, with a laid-back, social vibe. Has hosted notable acts, such as founders of the Upright Citizen's Brigade, and numerous writers and performers from TV. Catch the next big thing in comedy 7 nights a week. BYOB and walkable to public transportation and nearby restaurants (Tapas, Sushi, Tacos).
Simply put, this theater offers a talented and funny community of people at a super inexpensive cost. Coming from the improv scene in NY, Coldtowne honors a lot of the Game teachings of UCB. Awesome awesome awesome!
Austin’s weekly live, competitive improv comedy show. It’s 100% made up on the spot, 100% clean and family-friendly, and 100% hilarious! ComedySportz features two teams of players competing against each other in improvised games, songs, and scenes. There’s a referee to keep order, and the audience decides who walks away with “the thrill of victory”, and who gets crushed by the “agony of defeat”.
