Living up to its billing as “The Natural State”, the state is a nature wonderland with three national forests, nearly 9,000 miles of pristine streams and rivers, awe-inspiring settings in the Ozark and Quachita mountains and sparkling lakes.
The menu of vacation experiences is an exciting one. For great golf, spas, horse racing and the Hot Springs National Park, Hot Springs is the place to go. Outdoor enthusiasts love the Ozark Mountains where activities like canoeing, rafting, kayaking, fishing, hiking and rock climbing are popular. The mountain village of Eureka Springs, with its streets lined with Victorian homes, is brimming with boutiques, antique shops and art galleries. Wine enthusiasts love the Arkansas Wine Country, encompassing the towns of Paris, Ozark and Altus, where German style wines are produced. From its ancient mountains to the Delta flatlands leveled by the Mississippi River, the state has a diverse topography with numerous scenic drives. Try the Pig Trail, Ozark Highlands and Sylamore scenic byways in the Ozark National Forest designated by the U.S. Forest Service. Golfers love the state because greens fees are extremely affordable for great courses. A few excellent public access courses are Sage Meadows in Jonesboro, Stonebridge Meadows in Fayetteville and the Mountain Ranch Course in Fairfield Bay.

The Klipsch Museum of Audio History highlights the achievements of Paul W. Klipsch, a founding father of the audio industry. It is housed in an historic building that served as the first Klipsch factory in 1948, and was previously the telephone building during WWII for the Southwestern Proving Grounds. Most artifacts on display are the work of Mr. Klipsch, but there are many others too.

I took my six year old son and we loved it. Lots of hands-on activities and the Dino trek was hilarious with each dinosaur decorated in a Christmas theme. The Spinosaur was eating the Christmas tree! We spent two hours there. I suggest getting there when they open because it filled up quickly. It was nice doing all the hands-on exhibits without a crowd. The staff was friendly and helpful. The building was very clean.

Took my four-year-old grandson here last week. After using up our two-hour public library parking time, we drove to the midtown Pizza Cafe for lunch, then back downtown for another two hours of fun. His favorite parts were the Pet Clinic and the Bed of Nails, which we kept coming back to. Also, the karaoke room (Old MacDonald) and a soft playground surrounded with netting to bounce around on. A few educational parts captured his interest, too--a dinosaur exhibit and anatomy display. A few of the science gizmos weren't working, and the place shows minor wear and tear, which is to be expected. However, it was an engaging place to spend the day. As an added bonus, the Stephens Nature Center is nearby with free admission. Be aware that parking is a challenge since the River Market District is one long congested street, President Clinton Avenue, with no side streets to park on. However, there is indefinite free parking a few blocks away at the Clinton Library on the east side of the district. Also, if you have a public library card, you can park in their lot for two hours without having to pay.

Discover the connections between science, technology, engineering, art, and math (STEAM) and the world around us at the Scott Family Amazeum. Inspired by the landscape, culture, history, innovative spirit of Northwest Arkansas, the Amazeum contains 50,000 square feet of hands-on, learning fun for the entire family. Spend the day exploring science, technology, engineering, art and math (STEAM) through play at the Amazeum. Ample outdoor space allows for free range play. Healthy and safety measures are in place and include mandatory face coverings for adults and children ages 10 and older, timed ticketed entry to reduce capacity, and increased hand sanitizing stations.
We took our 9-year-old grandson to the Amazeum, as we'd heard so much about it. The admission was well worth the cost once we got in the door. There were a lot of people there, but we managed to find plenty to do. There was enough to keep this kid busy for 3-4 hours, and we never made it to everything. He did the Hershey Chocolate lab, and although he wasn't too excited about the not-very-sweet options, he was a HUGE fan of the different flavors of chocolate! The staff was very patient and seemed very genuine, even in light of the dozens of kids running around. The area was clean and well appointed, and try as we might, there just wasn't a whole lot to complain about. He was entertained, he went home raving about it, and we promise to bring him back again. For $9.50, this is the best dollars you'll drop if you've got youngsters with inquiring minds! Food and drink prices aren't "cheap", but you don't expect them to be in a place like this. Don't come hungry--eat first, or eat right after if you don't want to drop some bucks for food.

The UALR Planetarium is currently NON OPERATIONAL. Unfortunately, this means that there are currently no provisions for school or public visits. We are working on upgrades and renovations for the Planetarium.
