Today started out very early. We met at the office and left on time. Oh, Nong, and Sam were terrific tour guides. It was nice to leave so early because traffic was minimal. Was good fun waiting for the train to arrive and also riding it to the market. You have to see the market to believe it. So cool how everyone moves their wares when the train arrives. After hanging out there for a while, we went to the floating market. Since it's during the time of covid, there were no other foreign tourists. Many of the stalls were closed but being on the river was fascinating. Oh got us a boat and we were paddled around to different stalls. It was really nice. Afterwards, we ate by the river. Then, we made one last stop to a family farm to learn about the process of making palm sugar. Oh told us about the family and gave us a tour of their home. Fascinating. It was an all around great day. We would definitely do another tour with them again.

The trip starts in Bangkok from your hotel. Once at the famous Maeklong Railway Market, you’ll walk around the bustling market stalls laying on both sides of the railway tracks then watch shopkeepers scramble to move their merchandise out of the way of the oncoming trains! Next, we drive to Wat Kai Bang Krung an iconic temple, known for its roots and branches of a banyan tree which over the centuries have surrounded the building, that houses a golden Buddha. Afterward we continue to the charming Amphawa Floating Market. You’ll take a stroll along the canal where you can see rowing boats, wooden Thai houses, traditional shops and stalls selling souvenirs, local foods & products. You’ll have a chance to taste an array of exotic Thai foods while trying out your haggling skills. When you’ve exhausted your taste buds we’ll take a traditional riverboat down the Amphawa River. There we see local people living off the river in their traditional wooden homes set above the water.

May, our local guide is fantastic. She was very kind to pick us up at our hotel. We quickly hit it off and chatted about Bangkok during our tour. May took us to places that are off the beaten path to see the real Bangkok. We had a marvelous local Thai lunch by the river. May wanted to show us food that her grandma made for her. Totally authentic Thai food. Besides the Thai puppet show, she took us to see a 200 years old temple that is being restored. No tourists, just two of us. We felt very privileged to see her hometown. May took great care of us and even dropped us off at the next meeting point for our second tour. We appreciate her thoughtfulness and friendliness. Amazing recommended places from her. We felt her genuine friendship. Gave us a really warm feeling. Thanks so much, May. Sincerely appreciated.

Thailand will take your breath away on this private day trip. With your favorite local, you’ll experience life on the Maeklong train market where a train passes through the centre of the market each day! You’ll see shopkeepers literally pick up their stalls and move them out of the way then watch as the train gently passes. There is nothing quite like it! “Wood” you like to know what’s next on this Bangkok day trip? A stunning temple with hand carved teak wood walls showing the amazing story of the Buddha. After all this excitement it’s time to eat! You will be blown away by the beautiful Amphawa at sunset. Enjoy a traditional dinner of scrummy specialties by the water as your local host shares the magnificent stories of the floating market. Ahoy there! Who doesn’t love a private boat trip? After dinner, you and your local host will be picked up and you’ll head out on the river in search of burning bright fireflies!

May met us at our hotel which was quite out of the way. She took us to all the significant sites and provided a very good commentary. Her English was excellent. We rode the ferry to the flower market, and a Tuk tuk to the Grand Palace. We were supposed to have a 8 hour tour but because we were jet lagged we cut it short.

Amphawa is one of the most popular floating market near Bangkok, with visitors almost exclusively Thai. Located 50 km from Bangkok this once small village was apparently already present in the mid-Seventeenth Century. It has become such a magnet for Thai weekenders that food stalls have grown from the riverbanks and stretched far into the surrounding streets. • Visit Thailand's floating markets on an immersive half day trip from Bangkok • Shop by boat along a riverbank in a longtail boat at a floating market • Buy plenty of unique and inexpensive traditional Thai snacks - the perfect souveniers from your trip! • Watch a train pass through the middle of a bustling market at Maeklong Railway Market

Exclusions: Gratuities, Food and drinks
My guide was very friendly and knowledgeable. He and his driver picked me up, and dropped me off, at my hotel, even though it is well north of downtown. The Grand Palace and Wat Arun are amazing. I strongly recommend this tour. Be prepared for a LOT of walking.

Its unfortunate that the temples were in ruins and some vandalized. This was still a very good tour. The architecture is amazing to see even in its destruction. The only problem was our guide. He didn't seem to be very knowledgeable or willing to walk thru with us through the tour. At one point he suggested listening to another tour guide. I would say take the tour, but make sure you have a Tour Guide who is hydrated, willing to walk around and knows the history.

Maeklong Market is a unique, 'must-see attraction' that should be on every visitor's itinerary. It is called 'Risky Market' because there is a train track that runs directly through the middle of the market. Literally within seconds of the train passing through the market vendors have to pull their goods, and themselves, out of the way. The precision timings and movements of everyone involved are fascinating to witness. Amphawa Weekend Evening Floating Markets is equally unique and special and well worth a visit!
Inclusions: Professional Local guide, Hotel pickup and drop-off (selected hotels only), Entrance Fees
Exclusions: Gratuities, Food and drinks
We used I Asia Thailand (we used them last year) and we rented a van with guide Woody and driver. We requested Woody after good comments and feedback. We did a 8 hour day trip and they were punctual, dressed well, excellent English and very informative. We started from Patong and made our way north before stopping for lunch and then east road back to the south to the many view points. The van was clean with great aircon and wifi!!!. We also had our own hand sanitiser and also wipes throughout the day. I would suggest and recommend I Asia Thailand to any family and friends. We would happily use their services again!
