Vins d'Alsace Mosbach

Reviewed By MissCellanies - Leamington Spa, United Kingdom

We took a picnic lunch and followed the Sentier Viticole path up from the Mairie into the vineyards. We stopped and had lunch by the chapel among the vines. After our walk among the Mosbach vines we headed to the Cave in town to taste some of the family's wines. Christophe was so welcoming and we learnt a lot about Alsace wines. The Domaine's wines are fabulous. I was worried that our two young children would be bored, but Christophe was so kind and thoughtful with our 5-year old daughter. Luckily our 22-month old slept through the whole thing (we chose to visit around nap time on purpose). A wonderful introduction to buying wines at the vineyard for my husband and an unforgettable day for us all. Many thanks, Christophe!

We rocked up here earlier today and astonishingly luckily managed to catch Albert himself; 14th generation winemaker (very much recommend to call and book in advance mind). Wow, what a journey you go through here, it’s so much more than just a tasting. Albert has a wonderful turn of phrase, this not only makes you visualise the wine but helps you understand why it causes such a sensation. It’s approachable, captivating and thoroughly enjoyable. Alberts’ wines are not only incredibly interesting but are as magical as his stories- for which he pairs beautifully. On top of this, his wines are also very reasonably priced. This is a must do in the Alsace, the best tasting experience and hands down the most interesting wines we have found here. If you want to find the real magic amongst Alsation winemakeres, then you’d be daft to miss this place. I already look forward to my next visit.

Zeyssolff - Au Peche Vigneron

The Zeyssolff family makes wine since 1778. In the winery you will find a Boutique, a food bar, a tea place, wine tasting, a sensorial area and a projection room. The wine estate got into an encounter point where we exchange and talk about wine. The wine estate has a big history and the new generation wants to share its heritage and created a place where people get enriched culturally and emotionally. You can visit the cellar home to 10 000 liter-capacity oak barrels more than a century old. In 2020 following the complete organic conversion of the Zeyssolff Winery, we decided to renovate our cellar and present our visitors a new activity : an immersiv film in the cellar. It is a film on our personnal, and rather rich, family history as well as our work philosophy. It is screened at 180° in the cellar on the wine barrels. (mapping on certain sequences) with fabulous sound effects that wenable the public to be in total immersion in our story. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E738_j7pwgA

Domaine Boehler

Our estate is located 20 km from Strasbourg, in the north of the alsatian vineyard: a long cherished jewel for the great white wines it produces. Wine-growing activities have been recorded in the family since 1842. The estate really took off in the seventies and the production of wine by Paul Boehler, who acquired the most beautiful historical plots on the heights of Molsheim. The Grand Cru Bruderthal, once cultivated by the Cistercian monks or the place called « Pfann », claimed by the Jesuits are notorious examples of the importance of this wonderful place. Currently led by Rene Boehler, the property strives year to year, to develop its wines thanks to the technological knowledge and know-how acquired during the last decades, passed down within the family from generation to generation. For the purpose of obtaining the best quality, the harvesting are exclusively done by hand and the winemaking process is traditionnal. Fermentation starts with wild yeasts. Daily tastings during winemaking allow us to stay closer to each of our cuvee, for a greater aromatic purity. All this care given through the vinification process is fundamental to obtain high quality products, to always provide a new pleasure of drinking our wines. We invite you to discover our wines, that reflects unique terroirs and a modern vision of traditional « savoir-faire ».
