Things to do in Algarve, Portugal: The Best Bus Tours

November 19, 2021 Nobuko Falco

The Algarve's sunny shores offer perfect escapes for all types, from those seeking the hot nightlife of flashy, energetic Lagos to those desiring secluded stays in rambling Sagres. Portugal's most southerly region offers historical attractions in former Moorish capital Silves and fascinating Tavira, great golf, fabulous beaches from Praia da Luz to Armacao de Pera, thermal springs at Caldas de Monchique, and miles of limestone caves and grottoes, cliffs and bays along its rugged coastline.

Fabio was a fantastic guide. He is passionate, engaging and incredibly knowledgable about all stages of the harvest, wine production and tasting. As someone who has been on many wine tours, I still managed to learn something new and different. We had a wonderful morning and I would highly recommend booking any tour with him. Obrigada Fabio!

We booked GL Tours with Gabriel for 1 day. It was our last day in Portugal and Gabtiel shown us a few great spots on the way from Lagos to Faro from which we had a flight home. Gabriel drove us right to the most attractive points of cavoreiro and Abufeira and explained where to go, what to see and where to eat. Super option for the day. No worries with the transportation, parking and looking around when you have little time. Gabriel shown us hidden gems we would probably not find ourselves. We recommend strongly.

We spend a long afternoon and evening with Filipe and it was wonderful. I highly recommend him. We visited Sintra and the amazing Perla Palace , the Quinta Regaleira and had the lovely pastry specialty of Sintra. Filipe is a very pleasant charming person to be with, he is very knowledgeable about, the area, the sites, the history and so much more. Time flies with him. We ended the evening in a great fish and seafood restaurant hanging on the side of a cliff Azenhas do Mar. If you are in Lisbon take one of his tours and enjoy.

The Alentejo, already considered the best wine region in the world to visit by the readers of USA Today and often referred and recommended in expertized publications, is an inevitable destination in Portugal for wine lovers This idilic and rural region is an invitation to relaxation and delight. It impresses immediatelly you enter it and drive through its flat lands and small hills, surrounded by agricultural fields of vines, flowers, cork and olive trees, pastures full of cattle and much more The region has old traditions in the wine production and a troubled story made of advances and retreats, but in the last decades has affirmed its full potential as wine region of excellence and arrives to the present day as a main actor in the panorama of portuguese wines. A region that has preserved its best traditions, while at the same time became leader in innovation, research and technology. We went on the tour on a cloudy day. Our guide was Victor, who seemed to know everyone! There were nobody else so we basicly had a private guided tour. The pick up was at our hotel at 09.30 and started with a trip to different beaches and places nearby, while we were waiting for the first wineyard to open. We got a lot of history about everything! Next stop a local honey-maker. A lot of fog on the top of the mountain, so no view. Stopped at a small local restaurant for lunch, then went to the last wineyard. Thank you, Victor!

I went on this 2 years ago with Brody and his english friend. My group had so much fun we're still talking about this 2 years later and I realized I promised Brody I'd leave a review and never did. We even got to see some horrible Belgian rapper making a music video in the cave (hilarious after all the sangria we had). This is an essential Lagos tour if you're younger and looking to drink and socialize. Such a great experience, you won't regret it.

We were picked up right on time from our hotel and delivered to the home base where we received a safety training and intro to the vehicles. My wife and I felt completely comfortable with the equipment and training and had a great time along the route. There were parts that got pretty bumpy along the way which was great fun- and the guide was always taking photos and videos of us which was awesome to have some memories of the trip. Can't think of a way to make it better, extremely happy with the trip.
