Brimming with both history and natural wonder, Northern Portugal is home to Porto, the city that gave the country its name, as well as the important ancient town of Braga. Also here is Peneda-Gerês, Portugal’s only national park, a gorgeous wilderness area of mountains, gorges, water features and wildlife. Many picturesque villages and manor houses dot the countryside. Two areas are UNESCO World Heritage Sites: the Alto Douro Wine Region, and the Paleolithic rock art in the Côa Valley.

PRAZER DA NATUREZA RESORT & SPA This 4-star resort and spa in Minho offers a spa that is free to clients. This is the perfect place to relax or enjoy a quiet holiday with kids. The establishment is nestled in nature's midst, between sea and river. Thanks to the peace and quiet of the countryside you can escape the hustle and bustle of the city. Here, you can breathe in the fresh air, enjoy the fresh seawater and listen to the silence of the mountains. Vilar de Moros is known for its eclectic festival that gathers hundreds of people in the small town, however, there is much more waiting to be discovered...
We stayed in this spa hotel at the end of our Portuguese Camino walk. We enjoyed a delicious dinner with excellent service in addition to a very good massage & a relaxing hour in the stunning thermal suite. The apartment was spacious for three people and the sofa bed was reasonably comfortable. It was the perfect end to our holiday.

We have spent 2 nights in a Lodge in the park paying Euro 230 per night which was the rate for mid season as we have checked in on September 30 and checked out on October 2. According to what we had read about the hotel, we were expecting a luxury 4 star place. Let’s start with our evaluation: POSITIVE Extremely clean lodge and SPA; Nice hotel concept with lodges in the park although the park is smaller than we expected. In 30 min walk you have visited all; It is a calm place; We had an extremely well executed massage in the SPA; NEGATIVE Our lodge inside was worth a 3 star average hotel in particular the kitchen had many things that needed to be replaced; The Casino and original water font buildings were closed while the museum was open but it was needed to buy a ticket; Breakfast did not have the variety and quality of a 4 star hotel, furthermore, omelette, pouches egg, fried egg, boiled egg were considered extras to be paid separately; According to the hotel information the outdoor pool was supposed to be open until the end of September, we arrived on September 30 but they told us it was closed, despite the pool was filled with water, with parasols and long chairs all around and it was sunny with 24 degrees we were not allowed to use it. Our lodge when we checked in had an issue with the AC, it was 15 degrees inside, instead of giving us another lodge (several were empty) they preferred to fix the issue which took them 4 hours during which we could not enter the lodge or go to the outdoor swimming pool; The SPA is pretty old inside and needs huge investment to improve everything. As a matter of fact it is not a real SPA in my opinion; To conclude, I do not recommend this place as it is not worth a lux 4 star, but just an average 3 star.

This hotel has a restaurant in it and it is fantastic! You can eat outside right next to the old water mill with the sound and view of the water passing under the old stone moss covered bridge. The food, OMG the food! We had Petiscos Baccalhau (3.50€) as a starter which were the best we have had in the last 2 weeks in Portugal (and we have had a lot!). For the main we had grilled octopus and veal in mushroom sauce - both were a slightly different take on the usual traditional food and were absolutely delicious! The starter, 2 mains and dessert (together with the very nice white vinho verde, salad, soft drinks and coffee) it came to a total of 40€ for the two of us. On top of that, the service was excellent! The waiter, the owners’ son, was very nice, attentive and speaks fantastic English. He and kitchen were also very attentive to our dietary needs. All in all, location, service, food, price - all 5*!

This was our unplanned stop, short of our mornings objective. Just loved the place! History dating back to 16-17th century, in the family since the 18th, a vineyard at late as in the ’70s, and TLC put into it 2015 has made the place full of life and compassion. Everything from first call, to Yvonne’s greeting and guidance to the abundant breakfast served and check-out was a wonderful experience, We left in the morning more envigorated than the morning before! Stop here - even if earler than planned and just enjoy!

I arrived around 4 after a long hike from Porto. I was greeted like a local and immediately shown to my room which had everything imaginable that i might need… was offered dinner and also breakfast time was confirmed. The in house masseuse was amazing… I woke up with nil strains after my hectic hike the day before! Breakfast was perfect with beautifully set table and plenty of food for many. Thanks it was a welcome oasis!

Leonel has given us a very warm welcome, showed us around and we were so presently surprised by this place! Beautiful grounds in quiet location , amazing hospitality! We were there for the DWC Competition and it was perfectly located just 15 minutes away from Braga. Even when breakfast would have started at 9.00, as we have told them we will be gone earlier the lady woke up earlier and at 8.00am the breakfast was ready for us, such a good example of going the extra mile!!! We had 3 children with us and they all loved the pool and the gardens , and if you want there is a massive tennis field and bikes to use at leisure! How good is that? The only thing I regret is not staying longer to enjoy this little corner of Heaven! Thank you very much once again Leonel for making our short stay in Portugal such a good one!
