Yogyakarta boasts stunning architecture and a truly spiritual sensibility. The ancient Hindu temples of Prambanan look like hand-drizzled sand castles, while the Sultan's palace is reminiscent of a gilded music box filled with jewels. Known for its arts and handicrafts, Yogyakarta is a cultural hub, a nerve center for traditional and modern puppetry.

It's very comfy and clean hotel. Close to bus station in quiet are. We were just not very happy with cooperation with (very polite) staff as our needs (like keeping breakfast when we were on tour or calling taxi) were ignored. Also WiFi doesn't practically exist.

Arrived on 23 Dec and stayed for 5 nights. The room was pretty small for me and two-almost-grown-up-kids, but it was always clean and the staff made our room everyday. The bathroom is also very compact, like everything is within one or two steps away. The bathroom sink has been clogged since day 1, (the water doesn’t drain fast enough) - already tried to notify the housekeeping staff but no further changes until we checked out. The lighting in the bathroom: the hotel should consider to tear down the bathroom wall so the sun light can come in and add more lights into the bathroom. I like the water quality in our bathroom as it was always pouring, no smell, hot water was always available, and both the tap and shower were in a good condition too. The breakfast menu was standard and the food taste was also mediocre, not too bad and not tasty either. Overall, the hotel need to consider to expand their building, either horizontally or vertically, that being said, they can dedicate one floor as their breakfast area and they can also add more rooms to sell. I like to big window in our bedroom for we can see the city view and night lights from our bed. The TV channel was great, they provided Indovision channels. Light fixtures and bed were also Okay- not too crazy about them but they’re Okay- The hotel location is close to Malioboro - maybe about 200m away. Thank you, and I hope this review is helpful.

I really liked this hotel, especially the price and friendly staff. Very caring attitudes here and happy I discovered because all the great reviews.. Hotel exceeded my expectations and always felt welcomed and appreciated here. I loved the smiling staff and given the feeling that i was a valued guest at all times. I unfortunately had an injury to my right Archilles heel and walked around in an orthopedic boot & cane, so everytime i walked up to the front entrance door, one of the nice girls would immediately notice and open the second door so i would have plenty of space to get out. They even located a wheelchair rental just in case I needed one, and although I declined, I appreciated how they made sure i could comfortably maneuver around while touring the sights around Yogyakarta. Rooms were clean and had "fresh" atmosphere. In room kettle including 2 packets each of tea and coffee, plus 2 bottled waters. My room price came out to only $20 a day for this charming hotel in laid back tourist area, with plenty of western restaurants nearby to choose from. Somewhat disappointed TV had all Indonesian stations with only one English speaking news channel, but it had an HDMI connection so I could hook my laptop up and watch my own movies and YouTube. WIFI would go out and come back in occasionally, but never too long. The old man who runs the place does a great job obviously and very conscientious being great host for his guests (i think he is Australian nationality but he acts Indonesian, even speaking the language). His favorite pastime is chatting with the tourists, which can be a bit annoying for some, as he goes on and on talking away while kneeling down low next to the table. But I have to give him credit for leaving me alone, as he cued right in right away on my "bland" mood & sensed because of my injury, I wasn't very talkative. Enjoyed the wonderful Indonesian coffee (they keep your coffee cup full at all times) and choice of Indonesian or Western breakfast and fresh fruit and milk if desired. This hotel is a hidden gem and i would go back again.

Unclean hotel. In noisy area with loudspeakers blasting during prayer times. Smelly bathroom had water running all over floor due to leaky toilet spray hose so requested different room. Bathroom towels did not smell good. No bar-soap, electric kettle, bottled mineral water & toilet paper provided for guests. Have to climb up long stairs because no elevator. A few cigarette butts on floor in dining room so had to sweep away with my feet. Had to move to different table during breakfast due to being in close proximity to guest room, so when door was opened had strong odor being emitted. Good flat screen TV but all Indonesian channels. TV luckily had HDMI connection so could hook up to my laptop and to watch YouTube. Had coat-hangers to hang clothes. Air-conditioning was okay. Free Indonesian coffee, tea & hot water but downstairs only. Breakfast was worth the extra money. Great area next to Malioboro Street where all the action is.
