The best available Specialty lodgings to stay near Tenerife

April 26, 2023 Janean Rudisill

Tribal Terenife still shows influence from the aboriginal Gaunches people. Visitors clamber to conquer Mount Teide (Spain’s tallest peak) and to stretch out on the sands of Los Gigantes. Squawk hello to the playful parrots of Loro Park, or brave the petrifying drive to beautiful Masca Valley. For a true taste of Terenife, sample fresh farmhouse cheese and local bananas. A piece of delicate calado canario lace makes a special souvenir.

This hotel is well located when you spend your day at Teide National Park. The hotel has an enjoyable spa and a great restaurant. Carlotta was extremely friendly and helpful. Excellent value for price! We were kind of disappointed by the village of Vilaflor as we were expecting something charming, but El Tejar made our stay an experience we did not regret!

I'm in love ❤️

Reviewed By Z6182EZannat

It's really an amazing place ! The house is very beautiful and stylish, the rooms are comfortable. The terrace has a wonderful view and it's a pleasure to cook, eat and chill there (but you can also cook and eat inside it the weather is not good). The house has a very peaceful and inspiring atmosphere. But the best thing about this place is not a thing - it's people ! It's hold by a family and these people are the best I met on the island during my trip ! They are always ready to help, to give some information, to make you taste some local food and just to share some great moments together ❤️ So, don't even hesitate while looking for a place to stay ! Also, the region is perfect : it's calm but not far from La Orotava with all historical stuff you can discover and Puerto de la Cruz with a lot of tourist attractions. And there are a lot of paths to hike all around, at the coast or in Teide park. Highly recommended ! ??

Finca El Pastel

A pleasant spot in in the countrysitside outside Tacotonte

Reviewed By Richard C

El Pastel is an attractive hotel set in pleasant rural grounds. To get there you need a car or a taxi. We chose a simple room for our 3 nights and it really WAS simple, with no table or chairs in the room, although there was basic furniture on the balcony, which had great views to the ocean. The bathroom was very modern and well-equipped (but no hairdryer) and the room had masses of storage space, although as so often there were only FOUR clothes-hangers in the wardrobe. The breakfast is well worth the 10 euros extra that they charge per person: lots of fresh produce, including freshly squeezed orange juice from fruit just picked from their own trees. There is no buffet and no breakfast menu to choose from but we were happy with what was provided. The Pastel's biggest disadvantage is its remoteness, outside Tacoronte. The hotel serves only breakfast and for other meals you need a car as there is nothing within walking distance. You have the option of taking an apartment (more expensive) and doing self-catering, but if you just take a room there isn't even a kettle to make a hot drink. The other disappointment is the absence of staff. Someone was there to check us in BY PRIOR APPOINTMENT and after that we saw only the woman who serves breakfast briefly each morning, who was very friendly and helpful. We were told to ask any questions by WhatsApp! Reception was always empty. We arrived after dark and the hotel was difficult to find, although in daylight there are direction signs if you know where to look. Beware: what looks like a swimming pool in photos on the internet is actually a smallish hot tub.

Lovely guesthouse

Reviewed By ClaraS20

We stayed here over Christmas, and were very impressed overall. Good clean and spacious room, characterful building, no problem sharing a clean bathroom with one other room, and generous "help yourself" breakfast in the kitchen with cereals, toast, ham and cheese, cake, juice, tea/coffee, fruit bowl etc. We also prepared our own meal one night as there is space in the fridge for your own stuff. The owner was friendly and helpful, but it is important you tell her exactly when you are arriving as she seems to only turn up to meet you then, and a couple of times people were left on the street waiting for a reply to the doorbell. Also be careful about staying here during a big festival time - on Christmas Eve there was a massive street drinking party of hundreds of teenagers on the main Rambla street outside. It ran from midnight until 4am and teens were urinating around our hire car. We had no sleep and were so worried about damage. The party seemed to have been anticipated by authorities because the street was cleaned of the many bottles by 8am. This wasn't the guesthouse's fault, but we were very glad not to be staying for new year. All other nights were peaceful - just mild town traffic noises which we are used to.

Scammers....poor customer service...avoid

Reviewed By Jcfg23490

I haven’t even visited this place yet but I really want to make you aware of the terrible way that I have been treated since making the booking. I initially made a booking for 2020 and had to change dates due to COVID and nil cancellation policy. All done with challenge as they only respond by email when they want to and you cannot contact any of the head offices, which started altering the red flags. I’d already paid for the trip when I initially booked over 12 months ago and on Christmas Day I had a text from my credit card company to tell me they had taken another full payment. I contacted the hotel, by email who called me a liar and he wanted proof. I sent him the statements and payments and now they won’t respond to text, calls, emails and I have been scammed. Booking.com are trying to get me a refund with no joy and I have had to complete a charge dispute with the credit card company .... hod knows if I will get my money back and I definitely won’t be going to stay there, their attitude had put me right off. They have also deleted their website...equally worrying. They are ‘open’ on booking sites, taking money and not refunding anyone due to nil cancellation policy yet appear to have shut down...disgraceful! My advice is avoid this place...
