This is an interesting place. It is the residence of the operators who runs a restaurant and a boarding business. The living room is the restaurant. The rooms upstairs and in the backyard are for boarding. The backyard with the pool is quite lovely. The rooms are small but big enough for me to stay. The rooms are basic. The noise of the dining room will end after all the guests are gone and the operators finishes the close down, which could be around midnight. The room in the backyard is slight further away from the noice than the rooms in the main house. The hosts tried their best to meet my request. It is an interesting experience to have, if you can manage your expectation.

A beautiful 7 hectare family home in Kafountine, Senegal. Set among flowers and fruit trees out in the bush on the outskirts of Kafountine we have peace and tranquility but are within walking distance of the town itself and of course the long and largely deserted beach. A perfect escape and a great introduction to life in West Africa. As well as accepting guests we teach the Kora, the West African Harp (Nov-March). We can arrange collection from Banjul airport, daily kora tuition, loan of a kora, and lessons in local crafts such as batik and basket weaving. Our prices always include all meals and a private room. Some rooms have an ensuite bathroom and there are two eco-lodges, one roomed houses under thatched roofs in their own gardens. All rooms are simple and clean. Solar power charges lamps, phones, cameras etc. Good fresh local food, shower water warmed by the sun - back to basics in a lovely safe setting! The rainy season is fantastic for bird-watchers (July-Sept).
I enjoyed my two and a half weeks at The Kora Workshop with Adam, Kath, and the lovely community they have built around them. My room was comfortable and had everything I needed including a private bathroom, open to the sky! Community lunches were a highlight of each day, as were quieter dinner times with a smaller group. Adam's kora instruction and several hours of daily practice took me from almost-absolute-beginner on the kora to a point where I am finding my way around the instrument and looking forward to learning more. Next time I would like to stay a bit longer and to find ways to explore other cultural opportunities in the area.

I lodged at the Surfhouse in two occasions in April 2018, and I have to thoroughly recommend it to any young traveler to Dakar/Senegal. It is located just off a main road, which makes it safe to go back at night or to catch a taxi to any direction, however the rooms and shared spaces are remarkably quiet; a few minutes away you can find the Village de n'Gor which I loved strolling around during the days (a visit to the nearby namesake Island is also recommended). The personnel at the Surfhouse is kind and chilled. In the courtyard there is a swimming pool and some tables/ sofas. I stayed in a 6ppl mixed dorm, never had any issue. The rooms and toilets were clean, my room was equipped with fans, and every bed had a mosquito net fixed on top. I haven't tried the surf equipment, which was there to be rented.
