In it’s prime position above the ephemeral Swakop River overlooking a vast and sensuous apricot dune sea, Desert Breeze offers the ultimate desert experience. A short drive from central Swakopmund, its spectacular location provides peace and tranquillity away from the bustling town, and the privilege of savouring the ancient Namib Desert.
After a long drive up from Sesriem we found Desert Breeze to be a real home-from-home. Lovely bungalows overlooking the dunes (which are only 120million years old) and only a 5-10 min drive from the old town and seafront restaurants. The laundry service was great as well and delivered a same day service. The room was wonderful too, with a spacious bathroom, lounge area with wood burner and bedroom area. Be careful lighting the fire. My husband knows how to light our woodburner at home and had to re-arrange how they had laid it in the stove to get it going properly. We heard tales of fire brigades being called out and one tourist burning themselves quite badly. They provide paraffin soaked ceramic fire starters, so just make sure you know you how to light fires correctly. Breakfast was freshly cooked and had the usual selection of buffet goods too. The staff were absolutely great as well. We are coming back to Namibia in 2023 and have decided to stay at their sister lodge, the Stiltz, nearer the seafront.

Comfortable and convenient hotel for visiting Etosha Park, from the Namutoni Gate which is about 30 kms away (30mins drive). We loved the waterhole where oryx, zebra, eland and kudu came for a drink. Enjoyed returning to base after our morning drive, having a swim in the pool, then a free foot massage and before going off again, having afternoon tea and cake. The food was good and the room clean and comfortable. Liked the open, modern structure and the big photos of lions and game by the waterhole.

May 2022 - Three night stay prior to our one month self drive. Excellent accommodation in Swakopmund. Great walkable area close to cafes, bars, the beach, and CBD area shops. From the moment we arrived Olly and her team made us feel comfortable and provided great local information. Our room was very comfortable and had all the nice amenities for a short stay. While not truly a huge suite the room was perfectly designed for comfort. The lodging is small and provided vouchers for breakfast at some great local restaurants (we especially enjoyed The Village Cafe). Our first night we dined next door at “Swakopmunds best Italian/pizza restaurant”, Gabriele’s, the following evening at the Tug for seafood (thanx to Olly for the last minute reservations), and then around the corner at Fachwerk Biergarten for a fun evening of beer and Bavarian food. Short walk to several supermarkets to ‘stock up’ for our driving trip. Swakopmund Luxury Suites had the perfect blend of location and super friendly staff that made for a great stay.

I had the pleasure of staying at Droombos while on business. A gorgeous hotel with the most beautiful gardens! The staff are friendly, professional and ready to assist with whatever you need. I stayed in a luxury suite. Full bathroom with all amenities, DSTV and a Nespresso Machine. A sanctuary to relax in after a hard day's work. I can highly recommend a stay here or even just a drive out to enjoy the restaurant and settings.

Very bespoke rooms and Hotel interior. Large rooms and a very nice restaurant on site. Conference facilities available.
Stayed here for two nights at the beginning and two nights at the end of our trip in Namibia. It's a wonderful hotel. Rooms are spacious, beautifully designed and spotless clean. The owner and staff are extremely friendly and helpful. We were even able to securely store out laptops here for over two weeks, so we didn't have to bring them on the camping trip. I can also highly recommend the café next door. Perfect for breakfast, a snack in between, cake and coffee.

12 Luxury Self-Catering units close to the shops and main beach
Convenient clean and good value, the Smart TV needed some user training but I got it in the end! The kitchen is well equipped. I was worried about there being no aircon but the room maintained a consistent pleasant temperature day and night.

A modern, well-maintained and attractive guest house. The owners were traveling but the friendly girl with the staff, modest as they are, went out of their way to please the guests. And they succed. The breakfast was rich and delicious.

The Camelthorn Kalahari Lodge is aptly named as it finds itself between two sand dunes in an area peppered with Camelthorn trees which are endemic to this region. The 12 rondavel-style thatched huts are sparsely set against a backdrop of red dune sands, yellow grasses, piercing blue skies and the greens and browns of the wide-spread Camelthorn and Acacia trees. The 12 rooms are smaller than those at Zebra lodge but are styled the same way with crisp white linen on comfortable beds. The San-inspired décor compliments this stylish yet rustic style. The en-suite bathrooms are fitted with a large shower, air conditioning and a tea and coffee station. This lodge is designed to cater for the more young at heart and the rooms are therefore at an adequate distance from one another. Each rondavel has a small stone patio from which the captivating scenes of the Kalahari Desert can be taken in.
We chose this largely for its location as our last of 8 nights in Namibia. We travelled in that morning from sossuvlei arriving about 4 pm and were heading for the Windhoek airport the next day. The rooms were very fitting for the area, clean and quiet. They are accessed by sandy paths, animals wander around including ostrich. There is a waterhole in front of the main dining/reception building. You can watch the animals as you lounge gem around the small pool. The red sand and low rolling dunes of the Kalahari is beautiful and serene. A highlight was dinner under the stars around a fire, great food and service. The waitstaff were quite good, the check in staff were just ok. We had come from self drive safaris in Etosha and seeing oryx, etc, in sossuvlei so skipped the safari rides here. It’s in a very large private reserve. We did do our own self guided “bushmen” walk at sunrise both for exercise and to see som e animals, trying to get close to giraffe was interesting, they could hear us from a great distance and would take off running as we crested dunes a km away. I’d recommend this locale for fitting into an itinerary as described and found the accommodation, property and food quite good.

Place well located, near the beach and close to the dunes. Rooms are clean and well equipped, with a good space on the backwards if you like to be in a open air space with some privacy. Breakfast is simple but really good. Omelets was the highlight, simple but well cooked.
