Sipsas Villas is the perfect place to stay in Koroni. Embedded in lush, almost tropical vegetation just above beautiful and almost empty (in July/August!) Zaga beach, where the turtles nest every summer. The houses are spacious with a veranda running around the house on two sides and beautiful views. There’s a well-equipped kitchen (with washing machine) and an outdoor grill and BBQ. The owners are very friendly and helpful. The village with its many restaurants and (still very non-touristy) shops is easily reached, we ate out on most days. We had such a relaxing holiday and can only recommend staying at Sipsas villas.

First off, GPS was not working as this is a very small village with practically no road names - easier to just stop somewhere and ask. Once you arrive there though, plenty of parking spaces in the semi-abandoned, small olive grove next door. Secondly and most important for me, the apartment itself was impeccable. Cleanliness, appliances, functionality? You name it, you had it! Simply superb and I cannot stress enough exactly how clean it was! Oh, did I mention that the fridge smelled like vinegar? <3 Respect to whomever cleans it - and trust me, it is NOT a small house.. The host explained how everything works around the house - for the pool, they have a hose to wash yourself before entering and a net for you to catch insects possibly falling in the water (none during a 1-night stay). Bear in mind, the pool is not heated and although they have very cleverly placed a window on one side of the balcony to keep the wind from freezing you to death and to also make it a bit like a greenhouse when it's sunny, the water is still pretty cold. Three major remarks in my opinion: 1) The pool is noisy after all - host tried to downplay it very politely, but nope, it is still noisy - not that you would listen to it from the bedrooms, but from the living room, or if you simply seat on the balcony, yes. 2) This is a family-owned building, and they are used to their own schedules & habits = people might wash their cars at any time, or children might be playing around (yes, screaming), sooo... not the quietest place you can find! Moreover, they need to do something about breakfast ordering, because what they do now is provide you with a piece of paper with your options, you need to choose one and give it back to them before night time - which let's face it you are on vacation & they are working, it is not so easy to make an appointment and in my opinion you shouldn't have to. Exactly because we didn't see other before, host was about to enter the apartment after 9pm. just to get the paper with what I wanted (thankfully I had left the key on the door and could not enter). Trust me, I would've preferred to not eat at all, which is what happens in most aprtms/hotels: when you do not communicate your preferences it means either you do not want anything or you will do without. Suggestion for future reference: texts/emails pre-arrival ;-) 3) The surroundings are not ideal, meaning there is no particular view, just other buildings. Host is fully aware so she tries to compensate by being a tad overzealous, but bottom-end, this a wonerful house to stay at, while you explore the picturesque, Messinian coastline or while you visit Kalamata (like 10' by car). It is not the house you would stay at, if you wish to gaze at the horizon or get lost in mesmerizing sunsets. Nope. All in all, host is very hospitable with lots of suggestions on what to do in the area, and just for the level of cleanliness I would visit again and again - kudos!!! Ps. some of the furniture you can just tell that they belonged to the family and looked sooo beautiful in the house - congratulations for preserving them!
