I was shopping locally and as I was driving past spotted there was a space in the parking bays directly outside so spontaneously decided to call in here for a spot of lunch. My wife and I had been here for lunch back in August shortly after moving to the area but it never occurred to me to review it at the time. It was a few minutes before 1pm and the place was heaving, every table in the front dining area adjacent to the bar was occupied and I was shown through to the light and spacious rear dining room. No difference in here as I counted a mix of 20 diners already in situ ranging from couples to a family with teenagers and pairs of businessmen. I took my place at a table for 4 that had one remaining place setting left and shortly after I arrived another 4 guests wandered in in pairs. I quote these numbers purely as we were all served by a single waitress and at no time were there any complaints from anyone about waiting for their different courses and neither were empty dishes left on tables for lengthy periods as she moved effortlessly around the room like the Roadrunner on Speed. So effective was she that I do believe if the small exterior courtyard (that was a wonderful place to sit and enjoy ones meal in the summer) with another half dozen tables set amongst a number of vines was open, that she would have been serving them as well! The Menu du Jour started with an extremely tasty and piping hot lump of fish on a bed of spinach with a creamy cheese sauce and topped with an open mussel in its shell and served with the obligatory basket of bread. It’s size wouldn’t have disgraced a main course in some restaurants’ but there was more to follow. The main was a huge bowl of Côte du Bœuf accompanied by a separate plate of vegetables - cabbage, carrots, leek and potatoes the entirety of which would have fed a small army, after which this boy was certainly slow marching on a full stomach. The conclusion was a choice between profiteroles or Crème Pâtisserie. I chose the latter and was thankful for its normal dimensions. I had a [expresso] coffee to finish and even though it was charged extra the whole at just €14 was a steal and completed in a shade over three quarters of an hour. Good wholesome food, large portions and efficient service, can you ask for anything more from an eaterie?

When looking for a stop over on our route back to the UK, we stumbled across this lovely boutique hotel. The setting is stunning. Its so peaceful and charming. It overlooks a lake and all you can hear is bird song. Julia and Steve are excellent hosts. We arrived after a long drive and were greeted warmly, shown around and had everything explained. Our room was really comfortable and a bonus for us was the insect screen across the window! Whilst maybe not high on everyone ‘s wish list, it meant the window could be open which was lovely. Such care has been given to the guest experience here. We had water in our room and beautiful homemade biscuits ( so sorry I forgot to mention how good they were before we left ❤️). It has a lovely relaxed, informal atmosphere which after a long drive was great. Can’t review this place without mentioning Colin! You will fall in love with Colin the Dachshund! Dinner was lovely. Again, so much attention to detail to provide an excellent meal and so much care to ensure everything was to our liking. We were given the choice of inside or outside dining. It has a small capacity for guests which adds to its intimate atmosphere. One important aspect is that to find it you definitely need to use the co- ordinates on their web site or Google Maps because thanks to the local mayor who thought changing the names of everything was a good idea, a standard SatNav may struggle to get you there. This should not put you off though, we were so pleased to find it on co-ordinates supported by Google maps relatively easily. We usually travel back from Spain via Bordeaux but having found this place, we would seriously consider travelling this way just to stay here again.

This lovely hotel is in a stately doctors home built in the 20s and completely restored. Our large room was fabulous with a queen sized bed and a gorgeous bathroom. The decor is fun. The rooms are super clean and comfortable. The owner is lovely and gave us good recommendations for restaurants and sites. The petit déjeuner was delicious - house-made yogurt, breads and croissant, juice and delicious café crème.

Restaurant Bar 145 is an old converted garage which has been tastefully renovated in a trendy retro style whilst still maintaining the industrial feel. The bedrooms on the first floor have been fully renovated with new shower rooms fitted.
We were taken here by friends for lunch and were very impressed, so much so we will definitely return again. The bar is modern and funky, with a lot of old car memorabilia as it was previously a garage. The plat du jour was extremely good value for money at €14 for 3 courses with a couple of choices of starter, main and dessert. Alternatively they serve burgers which looked fantastic if that's your preference. Service was friendly and there was a mix of both French and British clientele which I like. We are always looking for restaurants which we would be happy to take friends to and this is definitely one. We will be back.

La maîtresse de maison est très agréable et très accueillante ; maison de famille ancienne (plus de 200 ans) qu'elle essaie de continuer à faire vivre. La suggestion de menu indiquée sur Wonderbox est alléchante Chambres correctes
