A modern city in the south of Taiwan, Kaohsiung shifts from ancient to contemporary culture with ease. Don't miss the breathtaking Fo Guang Shan monastery and its hall of giant Buddhas. Dream Mall, the largest shopping mall in Taiwan, has a Ferris wheel on the roof. Drive to Kenting National Park for beautiful landscapes.

雖然在新崛江商圈上面,但氣場很好,睡得很舒服~ “很好待的民宿,生活機能方便,氣場和睦,行居坐臥都舒服,下回還可以再次入住,挺好的經驗~”

This hotel is very convenient. It's located right at the start of Liuhe Night Market and across from Formosa Blvd MTR subway station exit 11. The hotel room is about a standard Taiwanese business hotel level. It's clean but small. The bathroom is one room where the toilet sits on one side and the shower is on the other side. There isn't any shower curtain so the bathroom tends to get wet. The staff were very friendly and chased after me when they found out that I had overpaid online.

If you want to stay on Cijin Island for a reasonable price, this is a good place (booked on Agoda where the property is called “surf relax hostel”) to stay for the night (albeit the main eating street is probably livelier on weekend nights as it closed early on the Thursday night I was here). The people here don’t speak much English & are focused on surfing-so it’s a really good place to stay for surfers speaking any language. My “double A” room was actually down the street in the building where they store surfboards. It had wi-fi, was clean & not too much noise from passing scooters. Note: If you arrive before 3PMish or mid-day, you may have to wait a bit for someone to turn up. It’s pretty safe to leave your stuff in the bar/surf lounge area as Taiwan is a pretty safe place. The only drawback staying here is getting on/off the island, then walking to the subway (then you have to change trains to get to the HSR/rail stations) or hostel as the ferry can be crowded during the day/weekend (they don’t allow overcrowding-so you may have to wait in line for the next one). If you have a train booking, leave a little early to be safe in case you need to wait for ferries/subway trains.
