Welcome to Morinoyu, your Nanyo “home away from home.” Morinoyu aims to make your visit as relaxing and enjoyable as possible, which is why so many guests continue to come back year after year. For those interested in checking out Kumano Taisha Shrine (2.7 mi) while visiting Nanyo, Morinoyu is a short distance away. Guest rooms offer amenities such as a flat screen TV, a refrigerator, and air conditioning. While visiting Nanyo, you may want to try some ramen at one of the nearby restaurants, such as Ryuu Shanghai Sakaemachi, Rairaiken, or Ryu Shanghai Miyauchi Branch. There is no shortage of things to do in the area: explore popular history museums such as Nanyo City Toyotaro Yuki Memorial Museum and Yuzuru No Sato - Kataribe No Yakata Shiryokan. Morinoyu puts the best of Nanyo at your fingertips, making your stay both relaxing and enjoyable.
BTW, this is my second time stay at Morinoyu. First time is 2017 and I come again this year. This time we stay 3 nights. This place really silence and high private place. It is interesting that the origin of the hot spring just in front of the main entrance of the hotel. This is a good sign that it probably a real hot spring instead of filtration or re-cycle or re-heat hot spring. The food quality and presentation were found improved and it is elegant and good looking dishes. However, this review is found quite late since my visit at April. However, if you still miss a place after 3 months, a quarter. That means it is real good place.

This place is amazing, it's a special Ryokan with a heart. Located in Akayu which has a shinkansen station, this place offers such a relaxing and comfortable atmosphere. They have massage chairs, amazing onsen, a room with video art dedicated to local Yamagata area folklore (very interesting!), and the best thing is the staff.

Welcome to Takinami. This Traditional Ryokan has a 300 year history as the residence of a local, wealthy landowner. Over the years, the buildings have been renovated and today it operates as a traditional ryokan. Takinami has 19 guest rooms, these rooms have their own private open-air bath and toilet. Traditional Japanese cuisine is served to the guests at Takinami. Check-in time is after 3:00pm and check-out time is before 11:00am. Parking is available.
The Takinami is a nice blend between tradition and modernity: located in a historic building, but featuring contemporary furniture and a clean, minimalistic interior design with attention to detail. Upon arrival staff is rushing to your car, getting your luggage. You have various options for a welcome drink. If you wish, you can watch a traditional dance and afterwards observe how soba is made, thus check-in before 16h is recommended. Free coffee is available 24/7 and from 20h onwards you can enjoy a free selection of various Sake and liquors in the lounge area. Two bottles of water and two cans of beer are provided in your room free of charge. Staff and manager are very friendly and helpful. However, we were negatively surprised when we learned that our room didn't have a shower due to the cold weather, which basically downgraded the experience to a stay with shared bathroom. We could switch rooms for the next night, but this fact should have been communicated at time of the booking. Make sure you book a room with indoor shower, especially during winter time!

The place was expensive for the quality of service and meals. The door man just watch us trying to bring down our bags from the higher ground and upload our bags into taxi for departure, not offering a hand to help.Service is not of Japanese culture at all.Maybe they are not ready for guests of bigger bags as I notice there are non that has bigger bags than us but their reception has notice in English and many other languages to request for passport to be copied as demands from police department. The meals doesn't live to the price that we had paid for two persons, almost ¥30000 with meals per night.

Inaugurated in over 300 years ago, Yamatoya is the historical hot spring Ryokan (traditional Japanese inn) fed by Akayu-Onsen, hot spring region in Yamagata Prefecture(Onsen: hot spring). Akayu-Onsen, reddish hot water with nice and soft skin texture. The bath tub is always filled with fresh hot water in the Kakenagashi style. (Kakenagashi : Luxurious Onsen style that always running and non-recycled water) A calm and quiet time is moving in this Museum-like Ryokan. Inside of our Ryokan, a lot of arts are exhibited. Masterpieces created by world-famous artists such as Emille Galle and Pablo Picasso make special atmosphere.Yamatoya offers a delightfully hushed escape from the bustle of the city.
