This place offer high value for money! Recommend Pro: - Big ryokan, room is very spacious (in Japan standard) - 2 private onsen room (no extra cost), you can just use it when the room is free - Outdoor onsen and indoor hotbath available - Food is decent - Offer daily lounge for drink, and late night ramen snack (very yummy) - Service is nice - Location is great, right outside bus stop and you can walk around Shuzenji easily Con - You may hear the room next door as the structure is old, but we are feel it is acceptable

Discover the warmth of simple mountain village, let the pleasant murmur of the Kano River. Rejoice over the blessing of overflowing 100% natural hot spring baths. Our cuisine takes advantage of the geographical merits of Izu and uses plenty of seasonal fresh seafood and vegetables.
My boyfriend and I visited Sagasawakan for three nights and had the most magnificent stay. The warm service and meticulous attention to detail went above and beyond our expectations. From the moment we arrived, we knew the reviews of this place do not do it justice. We stayed in the Western-style room with private onsen and we highly recommend it. The meals here were exquisite and in many cases, better than $200 omakase experiences in Kyoto and Tokyo. Although most of the staff do not speak English, this was no problem at all and we were able to effectively communicate. On our last day, it was raining as we were planning to leave to catch the bus to the train station. Despite the fact that we left an hour before the complimentary daily shuttle bus, the manager insisted we be driven in her personal car to the train station to avoid getting wet. She even gave us an umbrella to take. I cannot recommend this hotel enough - we will definitely be back if we ever return to Japan!

「New Kaikatei Izumi」is renewed June 2016. We are specialised in serving 「Kaiseki -traditional Japanese course meals. Our chief chef Takeyasu Ishii was given two stars by Michelin for 4years(from 2008 to 2011), the world's best-known guide to hotels and restaurants. We are located in front of Suruga Bay. You may enjoy rooms with open air baths & Ocean view. About [Kaiseki] (traditional Japanese meal brought in courses) Kaiseki is a traditional Japanese multi-course meal prepared from fresh, seasonal ingredients. Some dishes are served hot, while others are served chilled or at room temperature — just the way they're meant to be enjoyed.
The room size is relatively smaller then those tatami rooms. The service staff are very good service. The onsen is average. This hotel is very near to the ferry point for the ferry to Shimizu. Overall is good hotel, but fif the price abit steed.

Finding an ideal romantic onsen ryokan in Izu does not have to be difficult. Welcome to Tatsuta Ryokan, a nice option for travelers like you. Close to Zemmyo-ji Temple (1.5 mi), a popular Izu landmark, Tatsuta Ryokan is a great destination for tourists. Tatsuta Ryokan offers guests an array of room amenities including a flat screen TV, air conditioning, and a refrigerator, and getting online is possible, as free wifi is available. The onsen ryokan offers room service, baggage storage, and newspaper, to make your visit even more pleasant. The property also features a hot tub and complimentary tea. Guests arriving by vehicle have access to free parking. When you’re ready to try some local flavor, be sure to check out Olive, which is known for serving up tasty Japanese curry, which is popular with locals and out-of-towners alike. There is no shortage of things to do in the area: explore popular waterfalls such as Joren Waterfall and Banjo Falls. Tatsuta Ryokan looks forward to welcoming you on your visit to Izu.
It was our second time to the area. When we arrived, I was impressed with the entrance, although there wasn't any warm greeting. We had a car, so it was not too bad to get there. Getting there by any other kind of transportation would have been a hassle. There is a wifi hotspot near the lobby, but other than that nothing. Why not??? The room was nice, with a wooden sunken bath overlooking the river. The lobby is on the 5th floor, which is the top floor. Everything else is down and the hotel runs along the river. There are four private baths that are quite nice, although they close at around 11 pm and do not open again until 3 pm the next day....again...why??? Some of the waterspouts for the showers do not work or have extremely low water pressure. As for the food, maybe a 5/10. It is a half buffet, with some food already on the table (sashimi...standard and nothing special), with a couple of table with salad, fruit, a few kinds of cake, tempura (not hot), etc. Nothing memorable. Breakfast was similar but I think I wasn't the only one who wanted a cup of coffee...too bad. There wasn't any. They should invest in a machine. The English instructions around the hotel are limited and spotty. There should be more consistency with that due to the obvious large number of foreign guests. Although I really enjoyed the outdoor baths, I don't think I would make the effort to go again. If you can get a cheap rate, enjoy.

Featuring free WiFi and a hot spring bath, Livemax Resort Amagi Yugashima offers accommodations in Izu, just 9.7 km from Shuzenji Temple. Free private parking is available on site. For your comfort, you will find slippers and free toiletries. There is a 24-hour front desk at the property. Mount Daruma is 11.3 km from Livemax Resort Amagi Yugashima, and Koibito Misaki Cape is 14.5 km away.
This hotel offers a 5 stars service at a price of 3 stars hotel I would say. Location is quite good since it is just a few minutes drive from the infamous Joren Falls.Hotel staffs provide the greatest level of omotenashi. Room is nice and cosy with private onsen in every Western style room or suites I think. The room view overlooking the river and myriads of autumn colours is just breathtaking. We stayed there during weekdays so probably that is why we got the deal at a price where no where else could give with such services. Didn't try the meals though. We really cherished every second spent there and would love to come back again. Recommended to all!

Registered as a tangible cultural property, Ochiairo is an authentic ryokan (inn) surrounded by the abundant nature of Izu, allowing you to indulge in the utmost luxury. The 14 guest rooms are all individually designed with traditional Japanese style and incorporate a hint of modern touches. A bar lounge is available 24 hours with complimentary drink (alcohol and non-alcohol) and snack, where you can relax by the fireplace while listening to the gentle sound of the river or reading a book. Dinner and breakfast are served in Kaiseki (multi-course Japanese cuisine) style, which we carefully prepare with locally produced, fresh, in-season foodstuffs. Together with indoor and outdoor communal hot spring baths, there are two uniquely designed saunas to refresh your body and mind. A free pick-up is available from JR Shuzenji station with reservation in advance.
A sophisticated authentic Onsen. I especially enjoyed their Lobby which is located in the center, where you can enjoy good wine, Japanese whisky and many other beverages with some snacks near a cozy fireplace. Both dinner and breakfast were just amazing. Japanese delicate cuisine and beautiful presentation. Good portion for adults. Furnitures and items in the room are mix style of traditional and modern. Fresh coffee beans and hand-drip machine in each room, perfect for morning. Last but most importantly, their Onsen and Sauna are breathtaking. You can hear beautiful sound of the river, feel comfortable breeze and watch stars in the evening. Clean towels and natural skin care products that anyone can use. I would recommend to participate Ochiairou tour if you have time. Their history is quite amazing and you will get to know how prestigious this Onsen is.
