Funaya has a proud 390-year history. We welcome our guests with courteous Japanese-style hospitality.[Access] From Matsuyama Airport: 40 mins by limousine bus bound for Dogo Onsen, From Dogo-Onsen bus stop: 3 mins on foot. From Matsuyama seaport: 30 mins by limousine bus bound for Dogo Onsen, From Dogo-Onsen bus stop: 3 mins on foot.
The visit started with a disappointment, the main reason for selecting this hotel was the rooms with a balcony facing the garden. When we arrived we did get a room with a balcony, however facing the busy road next to the garden. When complaining we got moved one room closer to the garden, with a view of the garden but still could hear and see the road. The room is a combination of western, beds, and Japanese, the tatami sitting area. Quite spacious, good size bathroom and seperate toilet. Breakfast has choice of Japanese or western, both come as a set menu, which were good. One night we opted for the japanes kaiseki diner, an elaborate selection of japanese dishes. Very good quality, which comes at a price. Service is top notch. Location is just around the corner from the onsen, and there is a tram stop close by.

Chaharu is a refined hotel with luxurious facilities. The hotel is only a minute away from the famous Dogo Onsen. The hotel's outdoors hot spring has a stunning view of the city and the mountains. The guest rooms are chic, spotless, and very relaxing. The hotel has a restaurant that offers exquisite washoku and meat and seafood dishes. The hotel has a spacious indoors public bath as well as a bar and a relaxing lounge. High-speed internet access (WiFi) is available in all guest rooms.
Nice, clean, relaxing hotel right across Dogo Onsen and shopping area. Great location. Onsen on roof was great place to relax, both day and night. Rooms were average size but very comfortable and food in restaurant was outstanding. Loved the specialty onigiri. Wrapped and ready to go.

Ryokan
It was my first time travel to Dogo, although I visited Japan more than 30 times. I reserved a non-smoking room at Dogokan for 3 days in Nov, 2019. On the evening of the second day, I smelt secondhand smoke, I asked the reception is it a NON-Smoking floor, they said IT IS a SMOKING floor, but MY ROOM is NON-smoking. I asked if they have non-smoking floor, they said yes. They did nothing to solve this issue, and I suffered secondhand smoke for more than 12 hours. I think it is ridiculous in Japan, not a "Japanese service" anymore.

The only hotel enjoying【a hot rock sauna】in Dogoonsen :) "Enjoying 【a hot rock sauna】 with relaxation!", a women and a man regardless of age or sex.The hot spring to enable taking a bath until 25 o'clock drawn from Dogo Onsen Main build.
It is about a 5-minute walk from Dogo Onsen Station, and the building is a little old, but it has been partially renovated so it doesn't matter. The room is Japanese-style and spacious, giving the impression of an old Japanese hotel style. The large communal bath was large, and I was able to monopolize it because there were no guests taking a bath due to the influence of the corona, perhaps. Breakfast is Matsuyama's specialty dishes are used, and I am quite satisfied.

Just stayed one night. In-room bathroom was in terrible condition. Bed was also dusty. Far below average. Avoid!

This is one of the nicer Yukai resort properties. There is a shuttle service every 30 minutes from in front of the Dogo Onsen station (behind the taxis) and it also stops at the side of the Dogo Onsen Honkan building. Staff were very friendly.Room was recently refurbished with a mirrored bamboo feature to make the room seem much larger (and make up for the lack of a proper window which is fine for a one night stay if you are not claustrophobic!) The indoor hot spring baths was large and clean and there was also a small outside bath and sauna which were very nice. The baths were available until 11am. The selection of food was good and the staff even put on a mochi making demonstration to introduce local foods. Also the English signage in the restaurant was much better than in other Yukai resort properties I have stayed in the past. All in all great value for money as always.Ask for a room with a full window and a view.

We stayed for a night and dinner in here and love it totally. The location is great, just a few mins walk from the Dogo Onsen, Dogo Station and the nearby shopping area/restaurants. They also offer onsite parking. Staff are friendly and speak okay English and fluent mandarin. They do not have a lot of rooms but every room is very spacious and all rooms have in-room onsen. The dinner is very delicious too. Although it's a bit pricey, we really enjoy our stay.

Located just a stone's throw from Dogo Onsen, this hotel is just far enough from the hustle and bustle of the historic centre. The room is on the cosy side so may feel a little cramped if you have large suitcases. Japanese style breakfast is sumptuous and the service in general was great.

Hotel
The ryokan is conveniently located on a low hill right at the end of the Dogo shopping street. Food was more than enough, and the dishes all had different, interesting flavours. I absolutely loved some of them. I took 2 hours to finish dinner, so make sure you allocate a lot of time for your meals. Even breakfast was big. The person serving would explain about the food and how to eat them. They provide you with a tea-making set and plenty of green tea leaves as well as tea bags after dinner. They accept and cater for special meal requests if you mention them when you make your reservations. I do not eat meat, so they designed a menu specifically for me. You do not even have to remind them about it while you're there. The private hot spring bath has adjustable temperature, as cooled water can be added. The private toilet was conveniently modern western style while the tub was wooden. Room was in keeping with the simple Japanese style of decor with paper sliding doors, calligraphy, and lots of wood. The kimono-clad lady assigned to my room was very polite and helpful. She was not very fluent in English, but she still tried her best to explain everything to me. It helped that I could also speak basic Japanese. Japanese-speakers would definitely feel very comfortable with the service and hospitality here. Overall, I highly recommend this ryokan to anyone who is capable of speaking at least a little bit of Japanese. The ryokan provides modern facilities without breaking the traditional feel. Very well done. Would come back in the future.

Hotel was located behind Dogo Onsen and there were two blocks of building, we got to stay at the old wing (lower block), spacious Japanese room with mountain view in separate sitting area. They had onsen facilities in both buildings and guests were allowed to use both + one-time entry ticket for Dogo Onsen (which was within 3 mins. walking distance). Our dinner and breakfast were served in the same dining hall, traditional Japanese food with nice presentation. Food was average. Paid parking was available on site.
