Alaska is divided into five regions: far north, interior, southwest, south central, and inside passage. Although it takes a long time to see the entire state, you can travel through the regions by boat, car, bus, or plane. Hike through the mountains, or venture out on a deep sea fishing or whale watching excursion. Get in touch with nature by camping in the wilderness, or experience your preferred degree of class and luxury in the beautiful, active cities of Anchorage and Fairbanks.

Set on the tip of the Homer Spit and overlooking Kachemak Bay, this relaxed hotel is a 3-minute walk from the ferry terminal and 6 miles from the Alaska Maritime National Wildlife Refuge. Cozy rooms, some with decks, feature satellite TV and free Wi-Fi, plus mini-fridges, microwaves and coffee makers. Upgraded rooms add bay views and sitting areas. Airy lodges with 1 to 3 bedrooms offer full kitchens and fireplaces. Parking is complimentary. There's a refined seafood restaurant with bay views and outdoor seating. Other amenities include an indoor heated pool, a beach side hot tub and a sauna.
LAND'S END is doing much better this year. Assume new management. They have a new coffee shop. some might like it as it is more 'upscale' with seats for computing, etc. Not much in the way of souvenirs. I liked their cards and tee shirts and sweatshirts. Even the neighbors were quieter! that's a biggie.

We arrived at 9 PM, left at 7 AM, so staying at a 5 Star resort was a poor decision on my part. The hotel was upscale, but has some rinky-dink A/C system for the rooms which many people complained about. Rooms were stuffy. Restaurant was very good for the light dinner we had. Community shuttle system is so-so. For $400/night would expect to hotel is have it's own shuttle system and good a/c. The staff was accommodating- when we couldn't get our room to cool, they allowed me to pick from 4 different rooms that I checked. We moved and it was OK. Clearly the staff knows the drill. We slept well in the end.

We offer four distinctly different hotel, motel and deluxe lodge-style buildings. The Driftwood Inn is a charming, historic, hotel, motel, and Inn located in the heart of Old-Town Homer near the beach in Homer, Alaska. Located next to Bishop's Beach in a secluded area of Old Town Homer, we offer economy rooms and a relaxed, homey atmosphere with partial views overlooking beautiful Kachemak Bay with its mountains, glaciers and coves. The Seaside & Bluffview Lodges feature modern and spacious lodging overlooking Bishop's Beach with breathtaking views of Kachemak Bay. The seaside Kachemak Cottage and intimate RV Park are located adjacent to the Inn; just a few steps away. The Woodside Fishing Suites are located about a block away on Pioneer Ave and feature 1 and 2 Bedroom Suites with kitchenettes.
My husband and I have stayed at the Driftwood Inn many times in the past 10+ years. We have stayed in a variety of their rooms and were excited to try the tiny little mermaid house. It is a bit expensive, but a cute little cabin in the RV park with its own bathroom and kitchen, so I think it is worth it. It is a little bright in the summer (could use some curtains on the front door), but otherwise we enjoyed our two nights there.

Chena Hot Springs Resort is an excellent choice for travelers visiting Pleasant Valley, offering a family-friendly environment alongside many helpful amenities designed to enhance your stay. Chena Hot Springs Fairbanks offers guests an array of room amenities including a flat screen TV, and getting online is possible, as paid internet access is available. The resort offers a 24 hour front desk, a picnic area, and baggage storage, to make your visit even more pleasant. The property also features a pool and a lounge. Guests arriving by vehicle have access to free parking. While visiting Pleasant Valley, you may want to try some crab at one of the nearby restaurants, such as Chena Hot Springs Resort Restaurant. Enjoy your stay in Pleasant Valley!
We decided to rent a car to drive to Chena Hot Springs Resort and it was like driving on a hockey rink for an hour. Terrifying. But we arrived safe. The resort is at the very end of the one road you drive on. Check in was chaotic and we had to wait a while for our room but the woman at the desk was very kind and gave us a voucher for a snack while we waited. By 4:30 pm we were in our room and it was disappointing. For the price of a Hyatt or Hilton, you get Days Inn or Motel 6. The rooms were relatively clean, just old and run down. There are 3-4 poor quality TV stations (if you're lucky) and less than reliable wifi. It seems like they want to make sure that you don't want to stay in your room so you'll head out and pay extra for any activity you may want to do. That is the case, BTW. You will pay extra for anything you want to do. We were there for the hot springs and lights and at least they were pretty much as advertised. The locker rooms are not very clean nor spacious but the hot springs are awesome. We got on a wait list and made it on a tractor mini bus that night to go to the top of the mountain to see the lights. That cost $75 each. It was fun but be prepared to stay there for 5 hours. There's a tent there where you can stay warm and have very basic snacks like cup ramen (bring your own snacks.) The guides were knowledgable about how to take good pics with your phone cam. We were lucky to have a clear night and see some good lights off and on. If we happened to be there on cloudy nights, it would have been a disaster. The restaurant was pretty good and reasonable and we also paid for the ice museum. That was ok. I get the feeling that the resort knows that they are the only game in town and they take full advantage of that. You can take a bus there from Fairbanks and pay for a day pass for the hot springs and for the northern lights tour only without having to stay there. The lights tour ends so late that you'd probably get back to Fairbanks around 3-4am so that's a little rough. Chena Hot Springs would be incredible if someone took it over and gave it a complete renovation and turned it into a more comfortable and modern resort. Overall, we had a good time though. I was with my wife and nothing is better. We always make the best of any situation.

This is a wonderful place to stay. Picture a hotel room (very clean and comfortable) but in your own little cabin, complete with a patio and chairs outside. No kids running up/down hallways, no elevator or ice machine noises. Walk along the river to the EXCELLENT restaurant. There’s an RV park next door that you can walk through and around, filled with very friendly people. The attendants (Sally and Jessica) at the front desk are just amazing people, they make you feel like family. There’s also a good bkfst buffet available in the main bldg.

5 out of 5 … the restaurant is one of the best I’ve ever eaten in. We’ve eaten in the best in Anchorage, DC, Hawaii, Seattle etc….the menu, the food the people are amazing. “Bacon” the bartender treated us to on the fly hand crafted cocktails the best we’ve ever had. We had a pasta dish and the pasta is made daily! The Beef tenderloin was seasoned and cooked to perfection. Finally…deviled eggs! Salmon deviled eggs with house made spicy mustard. OMG!!

We stayed here for a couple of nights and really enjoyed it. The room was spacious and comfortable as were the beds (didn’t see any bed bugs). The downstairs is very quaint/Alaskan with lots of different animals on show. Wifi in the room is great Only downside is that we’d like to have dined in the restaurant on the ground floor but it’s so small we could never get in, so had to go into town for breakfast and dinner too. I think they could make better use of the ‘waiting area’ right outside the restaurant to increase capacity.

Tucked away on 105 acres, Wedgewood Resort is an ideal location to experience the natural beauty of Fairbanks. Surrounded by a 75-acre wildlife sanctuary and a 2,200-acre waterfowl refuge makes Wedgewood the best destination for travelers wanting a quiet getaway while they explore Fairbanks. Seemingly miles from anything, yet just minutes to shopping and attractions. Wedgewood is minutes from downtown and an easy walk to the Fountainhead Antique Auto Museum located on the resort property. Spread out in an expansive residential-style one or two-bedroom suite with fully-equipped kitchen or relax in a spacious guest room at Bear Lodge, which has an onsite restaurant, bar, and Café offering during the Summertime (No food on-site during the winter).
The room was hot and stuffy when I first came in. Air conditioner was a window unit and only in the bedroom. Felt like I was walking back into the 1980’s as nothing has been updated since then. There was a coffee pot but they did not provide any coffee, only tea, and I don’t drink tea. The bathroom was old, had stained shower walls and floor. Called for a shuttle to the airport to catch my flight and nobody ever showed up. When you pay over $250 a night for a room, you expect better service and a clean updated room. Would never go there again.

Luxury Fishing Lodge in the heart of the Alaskan wilderness. Situated in the village of Larsen Bay on Kodiak Island, Kodiak Island Resort is quite simply the most luxurious wilderness fishing and activity lodge on Kodiak. Designed for absolute comfort. Positioned to capture spectacular views of the landscape. We provide first class meals, lodging and fishing, kayaking and many more adventures.
Being a lifelong Alaskan I have been a lot of places and Kodiak was on my bucket list of places to go. I was invited by a friend to go to Kodiak Island Resort and I am glad I accepted the offer. The resort, which is now owned by Mr. Bob Gerondale, was absolutely stunning. I had a chance to sit down and enjoy some of Bob's stories of growing up in Alaska himself and how he felt it was just as important to take care of the community as it is the customers. I have been to places where the owner barely says hello to the guests, and this was a breath of fresh air getting to know the owner a little more than most. Bob has done a great job making some improvements around the lodge. I would like to comment on his staff and boat crews, they are just AWESOME. The staff was friendly and always greeted us with a smile and asked how our day of fishing went, or if there was anything they could get for us. The boat crews knew exactly where to take us and put us on the fish. Chef Jeremy prepared meals that would give 5 star restaurants a run for their money! The rooms are clean, cozy, and have 2 beds per room each with their own private bath. The only drawback was having to leave this little remote paradise. I would highly recommend putting this on a list of places to go. Bob, thank you for sharing this little slice of Alaskan Paradise with us!

My wife and I, along with her parents, just returned from a 5 night stay with 3 guided fishing trips including a fly out and could not have been more pleased. The resort staff was so friendly, helpful and just great. The guides were just as friendly and helpful which is normally not the case with many fishing guides. We stayed in a cabin and for 4 of us it was the perfect size. Could not be more pleased with picking Kenai Riverbend and we will return to them again on our next Alaska trip!
