Lovely little stay-cay. Comfy little chalet, a bit dusty, few cobwebs that could be attended to inside the chalet, being a nurse I am finicky regarding cleanliness especially the bathrooms and linen. I must say the service was great, as the bath tub was clogged and we got that sorted right away. Great location within nature. Chalets could do with some renovation and a bit more of a clean but other than that we will be back based on the customer service and location.

I don’t consider myself a twitcher, however the influence of this place with the diverse range of species couldn’t help but rub off. I took the 3pm Bush and Plains tour and we spotted 26 species as we drove around in the Troop Carrier for 2 hours, stopping along the way. My favourite moment was a close up at a Bustard. I stayed the night in a single room, modest and comfortable with the ablution block nearby. I loved the camp kitchen with a freezer, fridge and ample cooking facilities. Gathering at 6.30pm to complete the daily bird log was an insightful record of the diversity of birdlife in the area. This is a very special spot, great for walks and relaxing. The staff and volunteers are a huge asset for the place. The tour and location is highly recommended. Don’t follow Google Maps directions to get there outside of dry season and be very careful if there has been rain as the roads get very wet and slippery.

Check in was trouble free with keys left in lock box’s. The house was clean and tidy and my room was great with a comfy bed and ensuite. The only down side was there was no breakfast provided a small inconvenience due to COVID restrictions. Would I stay again, most definitely.

We were surprised to hear on the grapevine that Home Valley Station had reopened. The lovely girl at reception informed us that management had spent 18 months bringing it up to scratch. We found that the powered caravan site we were allocated was an expensive dust bowl. The toilet/shower facilities were not clean. In fact some parts of the toilets and showers had not been touched for over 18 months. Bins were left overflowing. The management of these areas needs to be looked at urgently. We went to have dinner at the restaurant which was barely a third full. We did not have a reservation and the staff member said they were very busy and he was basically doing us a favour by putting us outside on a tiny table among the mosquitos. After about 15 minutes a very courteous staff member asked us if we would like to sit inside to which we replied yes please, and she kindly found us a table. The meal was expensive for what we had ordered and of an average standard. The restaurant was still a third full when left. I had been planning our Kimberley trip for several years and had always looked forward to going to HVS. Overall our experience at HVS was disappointing and we would not return.

Donnelly River Village is a step back in time before technology took over our lives. Set in the middle of the towering Karri forest, we have 36 self-contained rustic timber workers cottages with wood fires and verandahs overlooking the trees. Native wildlife lives in the village and it is a great place to bring overseas visitors to see kangaroos and emus, in the flesh! Kids can run free to explore the forest, ride bikes and visit the General Store to buy their lollies. We can host functions and conferences in our old Workers Club and many couples choose Donnelly River for their 'destination wedding' where family and friends can gather for a couple of days of catching up again and celebrating their special day in their own special way.
A multi-family trip to Donnelly River. I hadn’t been before, though others in the group had. Kids loved messing around in the woods, adults went walking and mountain biking. Wood fires, communal cooking, simple pleasures. Great coffee in the General Store.

We stayed in the Dakota C-47 plane and absolutely loved it! We came for the plane but were stunned at how gorgeous the location was featuring the wide open fields, beautiful windmill, and mountains. The location is also very near (about 15 mins drive) to Bluff Knoll and many other mountain hikes. The hosts Hennie and Pleun are lovely people, very friendly and welcoming (and Pleun plays some great tenor sax! His CD music greeted us when we entered the plane, which was a nice touch). The plane itself is of course a very unique and cool place to stay, and they did a wonderful job making it very cosy and comfortable to live in. Just a heads up that you might have to do a few yoga moves in the shower if you're tall, as the shape of the plane didn't allow for much room to place the showerhead. We also enjoyed the breakfast basket but would only recommend getting it if you have enough time in the morning to cook the eggs and enjoy a leisurely breakfast. They also provided lots of great books on the history of the plane and windmill, and the wildlife of the Stirling Ranges, along with DVDs and games.

My mum, sister, my children and I stayed three days on the farm and could of easily stayed so much longer! The cottage was so neatly presented, clean and homely with the added touch of history. Being an animal lover I cant describe how much I enjoyed interacting with the animals and teaching my children about other animals other then the general domestic varieties. An added bonus is the property is so close to the heart of the swan valley and what the region has to offer. Corinne, Ron and their daughters hospitality was world class and we will definitely be back :)

We managed to get a cancellation during school holidays. None of us had been to the area or done a farm stay before. What a beautiful location and a fantastic experience for us all. We are happy to recommend this place to anyone. Fun activities and the accommodation is very good.
