Ucaima Camp. This Lodge is legendary for its prime riverside location with a great view of Auyantepui and a true garden where you can relax in the evening. Personal care including Ucaima is the best local food is served here. The camp has a dining room with a bar that acts as a social area. Ucaima offers a special package of four days and three nights including lodging and all meals plus trips to the lagoon and the Salto Angel. Ucaima Camp has 5 beautiful cabins, with its 14 comfortable and cozy rooms (7 doubles, 3 doubles, 3 triples and 1 quadruple with a maximum capacity of 33 people), with their respective private bath and deck on their balconies; pleasant natural environment accompanied by the freshness of the wind surrounded by lush beauty that will make your trip and stay an experience inolvidable. Campamento Ucaima also has a shelter near Angel Falls used during excursions and tours consisting of 2 cabins with 6 comfortable bedrooms...
My stay at Ucaima was unbelievably fantastic! It is a true resort in the middle of nowhere with easy transport from the airport to the accommodation (it's all arranged by the camp). The facilities of the camp are great, well mantained and eco-friendly. The location is just breathtaking, next to the river and in front of 3 beautiful Tepuys. The food was exquisite, with quite a personalized menu to look after your needs (from the respectable cook Maritza!). The hospitality provided by Dako, Miguel and Jonathan was 5 stars. Rooms were good, comfortable bed, all you need during your stay (you are meant to be out there, not inside a room!). You got WiFi and hot water. The trips made by the organizing team were amasing and definitely met our expectations. Staying overnight at the Salto Angel (Angel Falls) was a dream come true; seeing such a magnificent waterfall humbles and amazes you. It is stunning and probably one of the most beautiful natural things you will ever see in your life. Be ready for adventure!

Just 20 min. City of Barinas is Hato El Cristero, pioneered Ecoagroturismo service and quality accommodation. For more than 13 years ago "Hato Cristero" has contributed to the conservation of local wildlife at the same time with the natural ecosystem. It is for all these features concern originated hands of Concha Family converting his farm in what is today "Hato Cristero" that is why we are committed to guests, improve every day to go hand in hand with you in pursuit of EXCELLENCE is the main premise. City of Barinas, at the end of Av Codazzi, cross the road and take the Via San Silvestre 9 km from there to your right you will find "Hato El Cristero"
Definitely a trip to repeat! You are greeted upon arrival by friendly staff. The Venezuelan cuisine is plenty and very good. Activities to do during the day and a pool to enjoy and relax before dinner. The location is quiet surrounded by local fauna. It was a nice family trip with lots of anecdotes and pleasant experiences. Yo can go fishing, anaconda hunting, milking cows, riding horses. Lots of picture opportunities to remember the trip. My boys loved this vacation trip.

Rooms are very clean. Some rooms have kitchenettes. All of them have hot water (a must at Colonia Tovar!), cable TV and refrigerator. Free parking and you can leave your car there and walk downtown, where it's almost impossible to find a parking spot. It doesn't have a restaurant, but you can always go across the street to Hotel Bergland's restaurant, one of the best in town.

In short, I think this posada has seen better days, and I hope it sees them again in the future because it has great potential. We had high hopes for this place since we'd heard about it through the Circuito de la Excelencia (Circuit of Excellence), an organization of very nice, well-run posadas around Venezuela. Every place we've stayed previously on the "circuito" has been beautiful and stellar. Unfortunately, it seems that Casa Caracol has seen better days and perhaps no longer deserves the stamp of excellence. Pros: It is indeed far removed from the touristy areas of Margarita, so it is beautiful and quiet. On this side of the island the sunsets are glorious and the water is cooler and more refreshing on a hot day. We visited both nearby beaches (Playa la Galera and Playa Caribe) and both had advantages: paid umbrella/chair rental, food service, drinks, Caribe had fun waves for jumping and splashing, Galera had calm water for swimming and floating. The posada can accomodate many groups/families/couples in separate "houses" and the common area is cool and romantically lit in the evening. The breakfast was plentiful and tasty, and when we arranged to have dinner made for us it was likewise delicious and exactly what we ordered. Our cabin/house/duplex had an king-sized bed in a loft upstairs (soft sheets, pretty quilt, fluffy pillows) and a daybed downstairs for our son. There was A/C and 2 great ceiling fans, plus DirecTV. Cons: due in part to the drought, and in part to declining income with few guests, the pool was out of service when we visited. We knew it would be closed, but we weren't expecting a pond of buggy, green sludge. It was an eyesore. The beaches are not easy to walk to in the heat of the day, so we bummed rides from a delivery truck one day and got a taxi the second. The dry, desert-y surroundings have their own beauty, but not one you want to admire while walking on hot asphalt with all your beach gear. Some of the buildings are in disrepair (wood and adobe chipping/disintegrating), and some of the furniture, decorations, and appliances in need of updating. No wifi, no cell service. No bar service. Perhaps call ahead if you plan to stay here, and see if their pool is in service and what food/drinks are on offer. It could make a big difference!

Our dinner was delicious and the views from our room and the dining area magnificent. The inn is at a high elevation but this proved helpful when we biked and hiked in Parque Nacional Sierra de La Culata.
