Portugal’s Mediterranean charm is most prominent on the golden beaches of the Algarve; in the wilderness of the Azores islands; among the vineyards of Douro Valley; and on the cobbled streets of Lisbon and Porto, where old-world culture meets cosmopolitan bars and restaurants.

Located in the Vidigueira municipality, in Alentejo, and only 9 km away from the Alqueva dam, this charming country house is equipped with air-conditioned rooms with cable television. The salt water outdoor swimming pool ending in a waterfall offers a panoramic view of the vineyards and of the Serra do Mendro. With a rustic and yet refined and slightly exotic decoration, the rooms at the Herdade do Sobroso Country House also include mini-bar, a desk and a private bathroom. So that guests can discover the natural beauty of the Alentejo region, the front desk, which is open 24 hours, can organise wine tours, initiations to wine tastings, visitations to our cellar, photographic safaris with the possibility of watching deers, boars, mouflons and several birds, hot air balloon rides, as well as boat rides in the Alqueva dam with the possibility of water skiing. It is also possible to explore the surrounding areas thanks to our bicycle rental service. And there are many other activities available. Guests may join the hunting club to hunt partridges, hares, deers, mouflons and boars in the Herdade do Sobroso’s 1600 hectares of land. The restaurant serves traditional and tasty lunches and dinners. Some of our suggestions are roasted boar with green asparagus “migas” (a bread based traditional dish), Portuguese black pig with clams, wild duck rice in the oven with traditional Portuguese sausages, mouflon stew, dogfish soup with a poached egg or octupus rice with coriander. Don’t forget to taste our orange pie, the “toucinho do céu” (egg yolk and sugar tartlet), the “sericaia” (an egg, sugar and milk dessert) and many other traditional sweets.Guests may buy wines, olive oil, rosemary honey and jams in the Herdade do Sobroso’s cellar. The hotel has its own free car park. Beja’s Airfield is 31,3 km away from the Herdade do Sobroso Country House.
If you want to get away from it all and relax and detox from the pressures of modern day life then you could do worse than get in your car and drive to this resort property as its out in the boondocks a bit in central Portugal and a bit too far to justify taxi transfers from the nearest town.

Quinta do Mel is small peace of countryside near Algarve's best beaches. With 10 rooms and 1 apartment, results from the recuperation of an old farmhouse respecting architecture and materials. Most of the products we serve are from our own production. Besides vegetables we produce strawberries and aromatic plants. At the Quinta there's also a Tea room / Restaurant, open to general public, where is possible to taste several traditional products and mediterranean recipes. At only 1,5 Km from Praia da Falésia, Quinta do Mel still preserves the countryside quietness and spirit. Close to everything, away from the crowd !
We’ve just returned from a 10 days stay at this wonderful Quinta. The staff is exceptional : from the lovely cleaning ladies who make sure that your room and bathroom is spotless, up to the kitchen staff who make your stay absolutely great and cook fabulous, up to the waiters who are so friendly that you feel at home. Many thanks to Marié, Ronaldo and Sjabi. Your smiles made our day. The peace and quiet was all we needed. The sheep and goats were a great surplus! Thank you all for making our holiday one of the best and lots of success in the future. Many hugs, Sandy and Guy, Belgium

Gorgeous views, houses beautifully decorated. The restaurant serves great food and everyone is super friendly. Couldn’t recommend it enough!

We can't say enough about our stay with Quinta da Timpeira. The view is spectacular. The grounds are a photographer's dream. The backyard terrace area is where we sat and enjoyed the afternoon sun and spectacular view, while sipping delicious wine. Our room was immaculate and charming with antiques and nice extra touches added. It was such a joy to be there and the staff could not have been friendlier. Rita was a wonderful spirit as where all the staff members. Our dinner was mouthwatering delicious and the breakfast as well. If you want a peaceful romantic escape at a small friendly Quinta, look no further. We had all this and very reasonably priced as well. We hope to return someday. Thank you to Rita and all the staff for making our visit so special

We had the most amazing stay here! We spent 3 nights and it just wasn't long enough. The area is absolutely stunning as it's surrounded by nature and beaches that are really close by. Sofia was such a wonderful host and catered to our every need, cooking us delicious meals each evening. She showed us to secret beaches in the area and provided us with surfing lessons which such good fun! We had such a lovely relaxing holiday and we will definitely be staying here again.

This hotel has a restaurant in it and it is fantastic! You can eat outside right next to the old water mill with the sound and view of the water passing under the old stone moss covered bridge. The food, OMG the food! We had Petiscos Baccalhau (3.50€) as a starter which were the best we have had in the last 2 weeks in Portugal (and we have had a lot!). For the main we had grilled octopus and veal in mushroom sauce - both were a slightly different take on the usual traditional food and were absolutely delicious! The starter, 2 mains and dessert (together with the very nice white vinho verde, salad, soft drinks and coffee) it came to a total of 40€ for the two of us. On top of that, the service was excellent! The waiter, the owners’ son, was very nice, attentive and speaks fantastic English. He and kitchen were also very attentive to our dietary needs. All in all, location, service, food, price - all 5*!
