Very friendly family. Quiet, lovely rooms very private. Fab lifts into town available in jeep! Basic but perfectly comfortable place to stay, with good food available as is a little bit out of town. We loved it.

I noticed that some people were unhappy with the food, but I had a good experience. The one time that I stopped for lunch, I ordered the spring rolls which were crisp and fresh tasting. Also, I ordered fried noodles with vegetables that were excellent and literally covered with roasted peanuts. Look at my photos to see what I ate a very reasonable price. The restaurant was situated on the water, and the service was fast and friendly. No problems, no drama, just a good meal in a relaxed atmosphere.

Located a 2 minute walk from the town across a bridge you fell like you are deep in the country when you wake up. I stayed in a bungalow facing the main river opposite the cliffs. Some bungalows face the smaller river and face the back of the bars. Rooms are large and clean. Only ever had mildly warm water in the shower. There is a restaurant to sit outside in the sun and relax. Probably the $25 is overpriced for VV but it's nice to wake up to a beautiful view.

I stayed here in October of 2012. My simple bungalow was very comfortable and pleasant. The bed was especially good, and the duvet was clean and just the right weight. The mosquito net was in good condition. The whole room, and the bathroom (with hot water shower), were spotless. The deck was a pleasant place to sit and even had a sliver of a river view. The deck had a hammock and a couple of chairs, plus a small table. Inside, in addition to the bed there were two small tables, a fan, and a rack for hanging towels or drying clothes. Wifi didn't work in my room, but worked well in the restaurant area. I stayed here in mid-October and the restaurant was not operating. I assume they open it in high season. The owners have almost no English but are very, very sweet and helpful. I paid 38,000 kip (about US$4.75) -- a total steal for this very good place. I'd assume rates are somewhat higher in high season, but probably still an excellent deal.

It pains me to be negative about Sunrise, because I have stayed there before and have very good memories of it but this time, I thought it was rather disappointing. I paid 80k for a fan room, which was fine. The room was mostly clean, although the floor was dusty but I could live with that. Bed was comfy. The view from the balcony, is of course amazing and is clearly this place's best selling point. But there are some downsides. The owner speaks good English and I told her I am a returning guest. That was not however enough to get any sort of friendly welcome out of her. I hope she was just having a bad day. The restaurant opened late, and the food was poor (bland and very greasy although prices were reasonable) even if the service was friendly So overall, average. And if I return to NK I will look for somewhere else to stay.

On my DonDet trip I had 3 different kinds of Bungalows and that one was definitely the best one. After 7 nights staying in Bungalows on the Sunset-Side of the island I moved to the Sunrise-Side because it's a little bit colder there and the Bungalows are not over-heated at night (you even have a fan in the room) Every Bungalow (6 in total) has a Kingsize Bed and it's own clean private Bathroom. The best experience I had was, that the bedsheets and the pillows smelled really fresh (had that only one time in Laos). The bed and the hammock are really comfortable. Every bungalow has a balcony with two hammocks, a table and chairs. The owner is friendly, helpful and always have a smile on the face :) You can exchange money, book tickets for busses/boats, book tours or enjoy tasty food and drinks at their own restaurant. Good Wifi is available in the room, in the restaurant and on the balcony.

the place is dirty, it is very loud till late (partylocation next to the bungalows) and the staff is beyond unfriendly. they just don‘t care if you are there or not. we were the only guest and i do know why. i don‘t think they had visitors for month or years. we left the place after one night and told the manager we’d like to check out. they couldn’t care less. we booked via agoda and asked for a refund but they declined. do not book these bungalows and never book via agoda.

Stayed 3 nights in a floating bungalow. Clear, blue Mekong lapping the verandah. Room in need of repair but cleaned & freshened daily. Linen fine. Don't have any other interaction with the hotel and your stay will be blissful. Now for the downers: Most of the staff clearly dislike guests and providing any kind of service. The breakfast staff deserve special mention. They would roll eyes, sigh and thump plates on the counter. Their focus was on feeding themselves and other staff and it really felt like we taking food from the mouths of babes. Coffee was truly appalling - cold and tar like. The pool, a mjor attraction for us, looked lovely but is poorly mainained with green weed growing on the bottom. Restaurant: only had dinner once. Poor quality for price and swimming in stale oil. Acitivies though hotel: DON'T. More expensive then any where else. Had to wait almost an hour for motor bikes arranged the previous day. Private Dawn Dolphin trip: oh the serenity NOT. Dumped at boat site and left waiting for 30 mins. Taken out in small, heavily leaking long tail. In spite of countless (at first polite) requests driver would not shutup, scared away dolphin every time it was remotely in sight. Pestered for tip all the way home. We payed US$225 for 3 nights plus meal and trips. The most expenive hotel we've stayed in in 2 years travelling Asia and they still tried to add an extra night on the bill!! We moved out to another, much cleaner hotel with pool, pleasant staff, lovely ambiance and half the price.
