Like catnip for culture lovers, Saxony beckons visitors to eastern Germany with museums, musical events and artisans. The state capital, Dresden, is home to the restored Frauenkirche church and the eye-popping Zwinger museum, both showcases of 18th-century Baroque architecture. Music reigns in Leipzig, where Bach and Mendelssohn's former residences are now museums. Visit Meissen for its wines and signature porcelain. Castles adorn the central Saxony landscape, inspiring hiking and cycling tours.

Nothing to write home about. Cheap, clean, a little dated but otherwise fine for a night or two. Good location close to a shopping mall and tram. Walk to the historic city centre is about 30 minutes. Street parking for free in front of the hotel.

I have traveled to many countries all around the world. I have stayed in cities large and small. Rarely does one encounter the level of service that we experienced at this aparthotel. We were a family of 5, 2 adults and 3 older children. This was one stop on a 2 week Europe vacation for us, and as far as accomodation goes by far the most enjoyable. The place was incredibly roomy, and spotlessly clean. The extra touches were what really set it apart though. I had emailed ahead a special request for a Christmas tree, decorated, as we were there Christmas Eve and Day, and they took care of this for me! The housekeeping staff dropped in on Christmas Eve to say "Merry Christmas" and presented us with a bottle of Gluhwein and 2 bags of cookies! There was tea and coffee, toiletries, just everything you needed. Reception (check in and out) was so friendly and efficient. Thank you SO much for a fabulous stay...we are already considering making this an annual family event! Cheers!

Whenever I am in Plauen I stay here. The place is like a time travel capsule. It is full of old things and the rooms are romantically furbished with old furniture. The staff is very friendly, the rooms are clean and offer all you need, the internet is stable and wait for it… the food is the best in town - authentically German. If you want the full German experience this place is the one to book.

This pension has an open yard/patio and all rooms open onto this patio. Patio has tables with chairs, plants and makes you think of Latin America. Traveling with one kid, we wanted to book the triple room with bunk bed on top of the double bed (which our son found an interesting idea) but all were taken, so we went for 4 ppl room instead. Our family room turned out to be the whole apartment with a sofa (transformable into a double bed), a fridge and a kitchenette - very pleasant surprise and added comfort if you travel with kids. Breakfast offered a good variety of fresh products. Overall - great experience. Be aware of 3 little things: 1) Parking is a bit far away from the pension, not really comfortable if you have big luggage. 2) Family room for 4 ppl has one big double bed + sofa bed for 2 ppl 3) The yard/patio idea can turn out to be quite noisy during the night depending on other guests

We stayed for a days while visiting family in the area. It was truly wonderful. The room was clean and well maintained. Fresh towels and small bathroom amenities on hand. Our room had a large balcony which invites you to enjoy the evening over a glass of wine (or beer?). The sunlight woke us up every morning in the most awesome way, once you open the blinds. Its ideally located next to the popular Elbradweg which is perfect for a run, bike ride or walk along the river. All in all a great location and very friendly hosts. We will be back!

The room was adequate with suitable facilities bed, shower WiFi etc. however the reception/ breakfast area was unmanned so I was unable to have breakfast and was given no instruction where to return the key.

We stayed for four nights at the Hotel Andreas on a recent trip to Germany for the Christmas markets. Our room was spacious (by European standards) and very quiet, despite the fact that we were on the street side. Tram stops right outside the door, so one can access anywhere in the area from their doorstep. Staff was extremely accommodating and the hotel restaurant is also very good. A bit stingy with linens and towels--but, isn't that more environmentally responsible?
