We like to stay in Dormy Inns for the public baths and evening ramen, but sometimes the rooms are too small for our liking. We will only book the largest room they offer which usually suits our needs. Check-in was easy even though we arrived early and had the hotel hold our luggage while we walked around the neighborhood. The very helpful staff gave us information on area supermarkets and suggested the best one, Marunaka, even though it was a bit further away. We accidentally left a cane on the table of the free coffee service and when we went to retrieve it it was gone. A staff member had found it and brought it to the front desk for safe keeping. Our room was clean and comfortable as we expect from all Dormy Inns. We choose the “no daily cleaning” option and were given fresh towels and amenities daily for our 3 night stay. We don’t need clean sheets each night. The public baths were excellent for both men and women and they are natural hot springs not just hot bath water. The hotel is quite new and everything was very spiffy. The evening free ramen [and beer or soda (not great beer, but free!)] is standard Dormy Inn fare. We always buy additional toppings, vegetables and a salad to go along with the noodles to make a meal of it. The supermarket was a ten minute walk, by no means impossible. It is one the shopping street right near the hotel. There is a Family Mart just across the street if you don’t want to walk further afield. It is an easy 15-20 minute walk to Ritsurin Garden, which makes this location ideal for a garden visit. The station for our day trip train was close by, but the JR statiion is not. A taxi is necessary to get to JR station if you have luggage. One final bit of advice: take care when booking - there are 2 Dormy Inns in Takamatsu, this one and an older one (Dormy Inn Takamatsu) in a different part of the city.

Nice hotel with a bit of character. As a Brit I was wary of what kind of atrocities might lie in wait at "Old England", but it was very tastefully done, and probably at no little expense! The room was tasteful and clean, nice design, dinner was as good as can be expected of a hotel fixed menu. Breakfast? Well, it was no full English, but no major gripes here either. Wouldn't mind staying her again. Would give it a 4.5 if I could.

Ryokan
Located at the famous Dogo onsen area, and is a convenient 10-minute walk to the local markets, which sells foodstuff, local produce and many touristy knick-knacks. The room is huge with a nice balcony and comes with traditional Japanese tatami. It has fantastic and thoughtful bath facilities. Keiseki dinner provided by the hotel is good. Onsen in the hotel is towards the small side but at least it is not crowded. If you are going to the original Dogo onsen (which is just down the street), you'd need to pay to get in. It is what they call the "divine pool" but with horde of people dipping in it. Wifi is only available in the lobby but connection speed is good. Service is typical of Japanese high standard in hospitality. Highly recommended.

They have pick-up service from the port though I did not use it because my plan was to visit other places and angel road before checked in. But maybe I should have. The hotel is on the hill and so, the view from the hotel and the room I stayed was fantastic. I really like it. The room was a non-renovated room but it was good for me and comfortable, and hot-spring was very nice that I considered to use it in the morning too. Although they did not have any fancy amenities other hotels often have. like lotion. And I was so excited to eat dinner but the dinner was not so good as I thought it would be. Sashimi and some pickle were in the box but it was not fresh. Other hot plate dish was good. I think the food was critical though overall it was nice stay.

The staff was really nice and helpful, I called from the airport and in a short 5 minutes they were outside to take me to the hotel free of charge. The place is a little run down BUT my room, the bed, floor and bathroom were very clean. The furniture seems a little too old but it didn’t bother me much. The bed was reallyyy comfortable. The room had a beautiful view. It’s perfect if you are staying one night and need to be close to the airport. They drove me back to the airport the next morning again, for free. Overall, a good stay.

I came here with my wife and two kids. The family room was comfortable enough for our 90 minute visit but would have been too small for the 4 of us for an over night stay. That said the bath was lovely and easily accommodated all of us. I know the area well and suggest the view is stunning from the balcony. We visited at night so couldn't see much. There are some really modern massage chairs available for ¥100 or ¥200. I went for the ¥200 yen option for a 15 minute massage with lovely ambient music coming quietly from two speakers near my ears and an overhead display of seal pups, little fluffy clouds and sea views. Very relaxing. Well worth a visit.
