Awara Onsen boasts a history of over 130 years, dating back to when the first hot spring were discovered here in the Meiji era. Established in 1963, our ryokan owns three hot spring water sources. The spring water is of high quality, and said to have many healing properties, allowing you to feel refreshed and revitalised during your trip. There are various room types to choose from, such as rooms with private outdoor baths, Japanese suite rooms, barrier-free rooms, and Western-style rooms with beds. Awara Onsen is easily accessible from Kanazawa, as well as from Kyoto and Osaka. It is a 15-minute drive to Tojinbo, a picturesque stretch of rocky coastline that is popular among visitors from both home and abroad. Complimentary Wi-Fi is available throughout the facility, and a free shuttle bus is provided from JR Awara Onsen Station.
This place is perfect for the trip that you would like to have time to stop by and take some break. We went there from Nagoya , but you can actually go there from Kyoto, Osaka or Tokyo. The most impressive for me is not just a place but the service from the staff. They tried so hard to serve what we requested and asked for. If you pay with dinner, please prepare your stomach because there are 9 courses with good quality of food. The place was nice as clean. it's walkable from Awara station. you can get the bus from Awara station to Tojinbo within 20 mins.

See why so many travelers make Hotel Sekumiya their onsen hotel of choice when visiting Obama. Rooms at Hotel Sekumiya provide air conditioning and a refrigerator, and getting online is easy, with free wifi available. In addition, Hotel Sekumiya offers a sauna, which will help make your Obama trip additionally gratifying. And, as an added convenience, there is free parking available to guests. When you’re feeling hungry, be sure to check out Merucado Misaki, Arcenciel, and Komeda Coffee Obama, which are some cafes that are popular with locals and out-of-towners alike. If you’re looking for something to do, Obamanishigumi Traditional Architectures Preservation District (0.2 mi), Mermaid Terrace (0.2 mi), and Jokoji Temple (0.6 mi) are a nice way to spend some time, and they are all within walking distance of Hotel Sekumiya. At Hotel Sekumiya, your comfort and satisfaction come first, and they look forward to welcoming you to Obama.
Booked my trip from Expedia, and the reservation was confirmed 3 weeks prior to my stay. However, at the check in counter, the staff told me they couldn't find my name, and was just looking through name list over and over again. After calling Expedia, which was really expensive for the international call, Expedia confirmed my booking and said there wasn't any mistake. Turns out, something happened or someone in the hotel did not bother to check the system. Left me waiting and dialing an expensive international call. And most of the staff can't really speak English. After all the trouble, their way of making it up to me was to give me a 4 single bed room. Which was totally useless as I am traveling alone (they were well aware of it too). I went downstairs to tell them that I only need 1 double bed. Instead of changing it strategically, they just bump me immediately to next room number, and I got a corner view of the room next door. Thereafter, I also ask for lunch recommendations. They couldn't give any, and told me to go Izakaya (which only opens at 5pm), as apparently, all restaurants in Obama are closed on Wednesday. A check through Tabelog tells me many are closed, but not all restaurants are closed. This is an utterly disappointing experience, just the first hour in. Stay away if you are booking through OTAs and if you can't speak Japanese.

Arrived late with 14 other family and friends and immediately went out for dinner as they were all starving so by the time we got back, the yukata stalls were closed and I didn't get to bathe, very disappointed so I'll have to make sure to come back with just my Mother next time. The morning breakfast buffet was absolutely amazing, healthiest breakfast I have had in a long time and especially loved their vegetable sides and salmon. The Strawberry Mochi was delicious as well but unfortunately limited. Not surprised. Took more than a few myself.
