If you long to explore New Zealand’s beautiful Bay of Islands, Paihia makes a wonderful base. Known as “the Jewel of the Bay Islands,” this seaside town has golden beaches, lovely coastal walking trails and waterfalls, and a colorful population of local birds. Paihia also holds an important role in the country’s history. It was here, after a century of conflict between indigenous Maori tribes and Western settlers, that peace was finally made and the groundbreaking Treaty of Waitangi was signed.

We had 1 night in Paihia and wanted something affordable with great water views close to town. We really enjoyed staying here, we were greated warmly by name at reception and got into our room in super quick time. The room was spacious and immaculately clean with stunning views. The bed is queen size, so keep that in mind. Traffic noise from the road was noticeable, but was quiet at night - unavoidable if you want to be on the waterfront. We were proactively offered a late checkout which was appreciated. Highly recommended.

Our room was booked at an information centre. We were very disappointed with the room as allicated. It is the smallest studio we have seen. We found it was called a ‘petite studio’ and they were correct. Maybe there are other units that are larger but we moved on after one night deciding not to stay the second booked night. There was no room to move. A tiny bench space. No hob A microwave. No sink area so cups etc had to be washed in the handbasin. Hardly heigenic. Very disappointed. Good location as has been said. Also it was clean which was great. Overall a disappointing experience.

This was the worst accommodation we have ever stayed in! Receptionist was friendly enough but our unit was so run down and not worth $215 for the night. We paid just a little more to stay at Sky City a couple of nights before. It was a 2 bedroom bit only had a small 2 seater couch which was badly placed to watch tv. Also only 3 seats at dining table for a place that sleeps 4 people. Unit had black mould in bedroom and bathroom. Ants running around in bathroom and kitchen. Feature wallpaper in master bedroom wasn't even centered. 2 seater was patched up. No aircon. Wasn't that clean with spider webs etc. Location was only thing going for it. Wouldn't stay again. No idea how it got to be 4 star! Maybe the newer rooms bring it up to that grading.

Excellent for a budget stay close to the waterfront area. Plenty of shops and restaurants very close. Some parts of the motel are older. Everything you need is there. As a group of two couples we took two studio rooms overlooking the road. There was a deck area with a large table and umbrella which was perfect for meals. Staff were very friendly and helpful.

Tucked away from the hustle and bustle of Paihia village, set in two hectares of pristine gardens surrounded by native bush, Aloha’s tranquil environment is unrivaled. At only a kilometer from the main town center, Aloha still boasts easy access to all the stunning beaches, unique activities, boutique shops, cafes and restaurants that Paihia has to offer.Studio, 1 and 2-bedroom fully self-contained apartments are available at Aloha Sea view Resort Motel.
Stayed for 3x nights - alot of pros and cons but still an all right place to stay for cost. I would wake up to dead mosquitoes on the kitchen bench - maybe from the curtain blinds or been sitting on the window sill (I had no kitchen windows open). Ceiling could do with a little wipe, must get quiet hot in the rooms bringing in the flies. Otherwise - the owner and helpers were really awesome, friendly and helpful people. Always asked if you need anything for your rooms or were available of you needed something for your room. Shower pressure was good. It was real muggy, so was good having a fan in the room. Bed was comfy, couch not so comfy. TV was fuzzy, but free wifi. They have kitchen set up so can cook or microwave food and put groceries in fridge if trying to save money on food spending. Only walking distance to the beach either left or right side. Nice and quiet from all the beach and road noise. Good location as well.

We bumped into Casa Bella for spa as we had some injuries from sports. Vineet has been super helpful. He went extra to make sure we get as much support as we could. The room was lovely. Fair price very much worth of it. Spotless kitchen and space. Has everything in the kitchen area. Shower was great. We had the best nights in Casa Bella to rest for our sports. It feels super comfortable and warm. Definitely next time Casa Bella will our 1st choice.
