Louisiana tourism is centered on New Orleans and the North Shore region in the southeastern corner of the state near the Florida border. West of New Orleans is the Great River Road, with the I-10 running to the Mississippi River port capital city of Baton Rogue. West of New Orleans along the Gulf of Mexico, the I-10 cuts through Lafayette and Lake Charles on its way past Abbeville to Texas. Central Louisiana is Lake Country, and home to cities like Alexandria and Natchitoches. In northern Louisiana, the I-20 runs west from Monroe to Bossier City, Shreveport, and East Texas. Unless Louisiana is very familiar and frequent territory, New Orleans will be the top choice for a Louisiana vacation. Though Mardi Gras, music, and the winning ways of the New Orleans Saints football team get the spotlight, there is much more to explore in New Orleans. Within New Orleans choose among Bourbon Street, Royal Street, the Upper and Lower French Quarters, the Warehouse and Central Business District, the Garden District and Uptown, and Mid-City. With street car lines linking the French Quarter to the Garden District, Convention Center, and everywhere else, it is easy for the whole family to get around. If long walks are your exercise, explore the scenic city on foot. An easy two-hour drive from New Orleans brings you to Baton Rogue, Natchitoches and Lake Country. Explore old Beauregard Town in downtown Baton Rogue, the historic homes of the Baton Rogue Garden District, and tour one or several working plantations. Walk the 33-block Historic Landmark District and tour the historic homes and churches of Natchitoches. Relive Spanish Empire history in Louisiana at Fort St. Jean Baptiste State Historic Site. Heading west from New Orleans is Cajun Country and Lafayette with its mix of French, French Canadian (Acadian), Spanish, and Caribbean cultures. Besides Cajun and Creole cookery, explore the Civil War heritage at the Lafayette Museum. Stop by Abbeville to view the courthouse designed by Hayes Town, St. Mary Magdalen Church, and have a seafood meal. With 75 annual festivals Lake Charles is Louisiana's Festival City, and home to the Creole Nature Trail Scenic Byway. Shreveport and Bossier City in northwest Louisiana are casino and entertainment centers. Shreveport is renowned for hosting the Louisiana State Fair in the fall. Plus floral centers, art galleries, and museums. Monroe in the northeast also has notable gardens.

This hotel is in the ghetto. Prostitution and drugs on Chef Menteur Hwy. I made the mistake of booking it because of the four star rating and could not believe it when I drove up to it at 1am for an overnight stay. This place is not safe for families or vehicles. We didn’t even go into our room after looking for a spot to park. Drove to the Double Tree and payed $30 more per night. Called the front desk and told them to check us out. Wyndham should be ashamed to have their name associated with this place. Honestly I would rather sleep in my vehicle at a Walmart parking lot. How it has a high rating is beyond my understanding. Do not book this hotel.

This is a cheap motel… I get it. But even by cheap motel standards this was not good. 1) No Bedspread. Just a sheet and an old thin blanket that looked like it was bought at an estate sale, had several cigarette burns in it as well, both of them. 2) The tub had what looked like Vomit or poop let on the side, but on further investigation, it was an old plastic tub with more cigarette burns. 3) Not clean. The carpet looked like it has not been changed in decades, wife literally wore shoes to walk on it no matter the time of night. Wouldn’t put her bare feet on the carpet. 4) Breakfast advertised was coffee and a store bought muffin. OK, that’s not unusual, but what it was advertising “breakfast” 6:30-9 and at 7am they were out of everything. Several other things People outside the door loud but that’s not as much the fault of the motel. The door lock was about to come off the door and made it hard to actually get in the room. At the coups de gras… You get this gem for the cheap motel bargain basement rate of $150 per night!!! I didn’t do my research and booked a hotel that was $150 a night with a vision of at least a La Quinta or Holiday Inn style accommodation. This was an old, outdated, worn out, mismanaged, underachieving in every way seedy motel charging $150 a night! Wow! I have stayed in a Drury with amazing pool and hot tub with kickback in the evening and a full breakfast in the morning for less than $100 a night. Oh… speaking of hot tub. It is in the photos, but don’t believe it. The hot tub is just a concreted in hole with a table over it and the pool is about the size of a large hot tub. Not exaggerating. It’s like an I. Ground version of the bladder pools at Wal Mart. About 5 could fit in the pool at once. * Now for some positives. The bed was actually comfortable The water flow was old school. Not the low flow you usually get. The staff was very nice

I’m not sure how this hotel has decent reviews. The staff was friendly, but the room is a big NO for us. There was hair in our bed, floor needed vacuuming, furniture is all chipped up, air conditioning unit cracked, ceiling is full of stains, and everything in general needs a LOT of TLC. Elevator, floor by the elevator (3rd floor), and breakfast table floor was all sticky. The person in charge of breakfast seemed to have kept everything in stock and mostly clean. Other than that, this hotel is just gross. Definitely would not stay here again.

I highly recommend this hotel. It was very clean, every employee was extremely friendly, helpful and totally enjoyable. Asked for dinner recommendations and was told about a local hangout Pats, weather was perfect to eat on the patio, really good food. Breakfast at the hotel was great, quite the selection, great coffee. Momma the cat was so well behaved and if we hadn’t asked we probably wouldn’t have met her. I would gladly go back to this facility! And next door was a super fun eclectic shop which were just as sweet and friendly as the hotel staff. A++

Pretty nice little inn. The bathroom were clean and worked, the bed were comfortable for the night, the air conditioning was a little lacking but it worked so I can’t complain too much. The sheets were fresh, the tv worked fine, and everything seemed to be in place. Would definitely stay again.

Traveling for Thanksgiving and had to take what was available. Room was spartan in the extreme - no lamps! - just overhead can lights giving the room all the ambience of a DMV waiting area. Watch out for the bugs! No breakfast although I doubt I would have eaten anything had it been available. Several sketchy characters lurking around the parking lot. $150 a night was about two-thirds too high for this dump.

A boutique hotel experience. Not a ton of frills, but great air conditioning, comfortable bed with lots of pillows, and very picturesque common areas. The staff is incredibly attentive and kind! They went above and beyond to be accommodating to my questions and requests. A $10 Uber ride to the French Quartet and $15 Uber ride to the Garden district. Very close to Ruby Slipper and a Whole Foods. They provided free coffee and bottled water and there is a vending machine in the lobby for snacks.

This hotel is not bad. It had clean rooms that were sufficient for our needs. The rooms are a bit small. The real problem with this property was how slow the check in process was. Took 20 minutes to check-in.

First - the room was fine. Clean, and comfortable bedding. Fresh bath towels. Checked in late, and out the next morning. The lobby was closed with only the front area opened for registration The front desk employee was very "unfriendly', didn't make eye contact, didn't act welcoming and seriously acted like he couldn't care if we we were there, or not. Won't stay there again.

This is far and away the nastiest hotel I've ever seen in my life. Room wasn't clean when we checked in, mostly the floor and was very upset that there were drugs in our room. They didn't even make our beds or clean the room during our stay. Found cockroaches in the bathroom. Pool was closed for cleaning and probably has been since 2010. Staff doesn't care about anything. Extremely loud all night long. It was so horrible I went to another hotel even though they wouldn't refund me for leaving early. Went back just to check out because they wouldn't let me check out early. I've never heard of anywhere doing this. Plus they haven't even returned the security deposit. Please avoid this place at all cost. I hope the city condemns this place, it would improve the entire area.
