A mixture of forested mountains, alpine peaks, wildflower meadows, deep river canyons, and high plains deserts, Idaho is a paradise for golf, skiing, fly fishing, and river rafting. Boise, the capital, is the state's largest city and airline hub. North of Boise are golf, lake, and ski resorts from McCall in the south to Sandpoint and Coeur D'Alene in the north. East of Boise are the ski slopes of Ketchum and Sun Valley. East of Sun Valley are Craters of the Moon National Monument, Pocatello, Idaho Falls, and the small town of Island Park just across the border from Yellowstone National Park. Boise's Basque Museum and Cultural Center reflects having the largest Basque population in the U.S. Reflecting Idaho's diverse heritage, near the Idaho Historical Museum in Boise's Julia Davis Park is the Idaho Black History Museum's chronicle of the slave York who served the Lewis & Clark Expedition. After a family visit to the Peregrine Fund's World Center for Birds of Prey and an outdoor performance at the Idaho Shakespeare Festival, the next stop after Boise is likely to be Payette Lake in McCall or Sun Valley and Ketchum. About 100 miles north of Boise, past Cascade Lake, McCall takes you to the shores of Payette Lake. Go golfing, fishing, hiking, biking, waterskiing, sailing, boating, or whitewater river rafting. Ski or snowshoe Brundage Mountain or Tamarack Resorts, as well as Ponderosa State Park in winter. Ice skate year-round at Manchester Ice & Event Centre. About 450 miles north of Boise, there are resort lakes near skiing and golf at Coeur d'Alene, Hayden Lake, and Sandpoint. Golf, tennis, mountain biking, hiking, fishing, rafting, and hunting are popular in Sun Valley and Ketchum. Sockeye salmon may no longer do much spawning in Redfish Lake, but the boating and mountain scenery in the Sawtooth National Recreation Area make the short trip north to Stanley worthwhile. When the snows come the whole family will head for the slopes of Soldier Mountain, Bald Mountain, Dollar Mountain, or the Sun Valley Resort. A tiny forested town of about 250 people, Island Park has a large reservoir with fishing and boating, as well as Henry's Fork of the Snake River for fly fishing. It's only 15 miles from Yellowstone as well.

We stopped here for the night on our trip from CO to WA. Nice, clean, quiet hotel, with a good comfortable bed (one of my biggest concerns). The room layout could be better, but over all, no complaints here.

We were just passing through Idaho Falls on our way to Yellowstone and I picked this hotel primarily because of its proximity to the river. We did not expect it to be so wonderful! The room was huge with a kitchenette. The bathroom had a large walk-in shower AND a separate extra large tub. And to top it off, the complimentary breakfast included a little of everything, even a made to order omelette station.

We have a large outdoor, on-site parking lot and welcome guests with trucks and RV’s. Guests are treated to a complimentary continental breakfast buffet in the morning with every stay.
Luv the reception and stayed a few times never a miss. Front desk always chatty and simply helpful. The other part is hotel is clean where as it should be, first thing I do when entering my room is smell the pillows, you’ll be surprised that most big hotels wherever they are I’m thinking Silicon Valley at the moment, have about 3/4 pillows that actually radiate freshness, I would have to say 100% of the pillows here:)

We were passing thru on a cross-country move. We needed a hotel that was pet-friendly, easy to access, and included breakfast. The staff were friendly and the hotel was clean. It's not a brand new hotel, but it had everything we needed. Breakfast could have had a few more options, but we're also still sort of in a pandemic. Ours was a short visit, but I would stay again.

Then Randi and Barbara are usually the ones on night shift and are very accommodating and make you feel very welcome. They always have coffee and the breakfast ready. The location of this hotel is very convenient and in easy walking to what you need. The price is very good for the comfort and location of this hotel.

Was tempted to give them 2 stars instead of 3 but trying to push through with SOME positivity despite my miserable night sleep. We stayed in the King Hot Tub Suite. When we reserved the room we were told they removed the sleeper sofa and replaced it with a queen size bed...not true. The miserable sleeper sofa was still in there. The photo on their website shows an additional couch in the Hot Tub room however there was only the one sleeper sofa. As a matter of fact, there weren't any chairs in the adjoining room either. So bizarre for a hotel to not have some sort of chair. It looked like there was supposed to be one at the desk, but NOPE. This made it challenging for the obvious lack of seating issues as well as the need to put our suitcase up on something (you guessed it, there also wasn't a collapsable luggage rack in the closet either). The icing on the cake was the really loud street noise. This room sits on the ground floor on a busy corner. The older door is far from sound proof (to the point where you can hear the conversations of people walking by late at night). The breakfast items weren't anything special but still it is nice that they offer something HOWEVER... I'm a tea drinker and they didn't have any tea options except green tea. The woman at the front desk said they were in t"he process of restocking their tea"...um there is a Super 1 right down the street, how difficult is it keep tea stocked? On a positive note, it did look like they were trying to repaint and update their rooms so that was nice on the inside. Quite contrary to the sketchy/shabby look on the outside of the building. We chose to stay there because it is walking distance from downtown. Next time I will stay at The Ruby Hotel and just drive to town. The Ruby Hotel is a MUCH quieter and cleaner hotel.

The room was dirty. A clump of the last occupants long hair was stuck to the shower wall. Yuck! Right? Makes me wonder how much was cleaned. Just a rundown dirty facility. Do not stay here. You have been warned.

NEW! Updated windows throughout the entire property, super quiet heater/AC units in the 20's building, and new plumbing in the 20's too. The friendly staff at Oregon Trail Inn looks forward to serving you during your upcoming visit. Happy Trails to you and see you soon!
Lucked out finding this motel. Very nice and helpful owners. The room was clean and updated nicely. The bed was comfortable and the motel was quiet. We slept really well both nights we were there. They allow dogs, which was good since we were there duck hunting. They offer a continental breakfast. Surprising for such a small hotel. I passed on it because they didn’t offer any protein choices, but the coffee was very good. I give them credit for making an effort to send you on your way with something to eat to hold you over for a while. Overall, it was a good experience and we will stay there again next year for pheasant season.

We’ve stayed here a couple of times before on our way to Missoula and enjoyed staying here again on our trip this year. It is an older property, but they do a great job of keeping it up. The front desk manager, Ranai, is wonderfully pleasant and we remember her from past visits – she is a jewel. The breakfast is more or less continental but has a very good selection of cereals, muffins, bagels, fruit, yogurt, etc. The rooms are very clean and comfortable. We’ll certainly stay here again next time we’re in Kamiah.
