I hadn't seen any recent reviews of this hotel, and so I was a little skeptical about staying here. I was not impressed, and I will try to elaborate why. Reception: Firstly, no one, and I mean no one, spoke any kind of English at the reception desk. The owner (who happened to be there on vacation with his family from Seoul included). I am well traveled, and not so naive as to think everyone should speak English, but a little friendly sign language and a sense of humor goes a long way! The receptionist absolutely refused to attempt to understand, and instead just looked at us blankly every time we tried a little sign language. Instead, she insisted on phoning our travel agent every time we asked a question. He was based in Cambodia, and was woken up several times! Needless to say, we stopped asking questions. The morning we left, the receptionist was asleep in the lobby, and did not wake up while we were waiting for the cab. We left our key on the desk without officially checking out. Rooms: Adequate, good AC, small glassed in bathrooms in the corner of the room. The downside was the bed, like most places in Asia, it was like cement, but we had heard you could request a different mattress. We did so, through our travel agent in Cambodia, and again, the receptionist claimed there was nothing that could be done. Days later we had a local guide speak to the owner, and the mattress was flipped over to reveal a slightly more comfortable side. The safe in the room was in pieces when we entered. The fellow that brought our bags to the room attempted to replace the batteries, the result was, all of our things got locked inside, because the batteries fell out again once it was closed. Several days of this, resulted in us having no safe at all. Towels are also an issue. They do not like to give out extra towels to be used at the pool. The first few days, we had wet towels from the pool to shower with, after that we began taking towels from the housekeeping baskets in the hallways. Meals: Breakfast was marginal at best. There was fruit and steam buns at the very least, but we saw several rats around the kitchen area (beside the pool), which was a bit off putting. We only ate breakfast there, so I can't speak to the other meals. Beach: The reviews all say, that the hotel is a short walk to the beach. That may have been the case years ago, but the beach is now under construction, to put in a big commercial center. There is no beach access close by at all now, it is completely boarded up. There is a beach shuttle that leaves every hour or so to a small crowded public beach. Several times we walked to the public beach area by ourselves, which at a good pace was 25 minutes away. There are lots of beach chairs set up, but all claim to be associated with hotels, and will not let you use them. The lifeguards strangely, waved us over to take bribes, $20.00 a day and all of the sudden they will look the other way and let you sit in them! This 'public beach' is completely fenced in, so you can't even walk along the beach to get exercise, or have a change of scenery. I didn't like it at all! Pool: From what I had read, there was no pool, and it was shared with the neighboring place. That is no longer the case, and on the positive side, there is a lovely pool that is quite well maintained. The only downside, is that there are only 4 chairs, and absolutely no shade. At all times, at least 2 of those 4 chairs are occupied by staff smoking. The staff also had a pool party one evening on the weekend lasting until midnight, which I thought was a bit unusual. There is a pool bar, and a bunch of inner tubes by the bar. I used one one day thinking they were for the public. Apparently you must pay premium price for them. I ended up buying one at a supermarket, a much better deal. Location: Apart from the poor beach access, the location is actually quite good. There are several restaurants close by, and we found the food very good. If you have had enough of the local food, there are also some big American hotel chains close by that feature Western menus, we didn't eat at any of them, but they are an option. There is also a bus that will take you into the nearby town. We waved it down right in front of the hotel, for a small fee, and a 1 hour ride, it certainly beats taking an expensive cab! I would not stay here again, nor would I recommend it to anyone. Spend a little extra and go somewhere else, it will be worth it!

It's a brand new hotel. Spacious room with its own balcony, comfy bed, very nice hygiene products, ar-conditioning that actually works. The hotel provides self-service laundry free of cost, which is awesome. Breakfast is average and restaurant food could be better, but prices are really cheap. No swimming pool. The advertised free bicycle is actually an old one used for decoration at the lobby, no way you can ride it. Very courteous and attentive staff.

We've just stayed at this hotel, it's in a good location, unfortunately there was construction going on by the beach that's the closest, it was still open, We had a look but I'm positive when the building work has finished, the beach will be a lot nicer. We went to the bar street which cost ¥10 in a taxi, and the rainbow bar had great food and is located next to the river. dadonghai was about ¥15. We got lost a few times trying to get back to the hotel, but each time we called john and he gave the taxi driver directions every time! We got a taxi to haitang bay which was around ¥100 it was nice, we went to a hotel and used their facilities, but there's also a public beach nearby. We spent some time looking for 'Fat daddy's' a restaurant which has had great reviews to have then found out that it was closed 3 years ago! The locals were helpful with directions and overall everyone was very friendly! The hotel room was clean and we were provided with an ensuite bathroom when we had requested a shared one, so that was a bonus! We were on the 5th floor, with no lift, but that wasn't an issue. Staff at the hotel were helpful and friendly and were able to answer our influx of questions. Also we were recommended to try hainan chicken, which we did, very bony. Overall a great place! And they gave us a keyring gift!
