The Thunderbird Motor Inn is centrally located in the Cowichan Valley; an easy walk to downtown Duncan, the Cowichan Sports Plex, and across the street from the Cowichan Theatre / Rec Centre / Aquatic Centre. We are 40mins north of Victoria (BC's Capital) and 35 minutes south of Nanaimo (The Harbour City) which makes us the perfect stopping point after travelling from the Washington State Ferries, BC Ferries, or the airports. We are close to the Chemainus Theatre, Cowichan Valley Exhibition Grounds, Sports Fields, many Local Wineries, Golf Courses, Shopping, BC Forest Discovery Centre, Vancouver Island University, Maple Bay Marina, Cowichan District Hospital.Located in the City of Totems, in the heart of Duncan B.C.
Stayed for 3 months on business without a single problem. Quiet, ample free parking, good location for food outlets, walking distance to Duncan town centre (10 minutes), friendly staff always on hand, comfy beds and best of all ….. spotlessly clean. If you check my reviews, I do not tolerate bad quality or service, Thunderbirds are go!

twenty minutes from Victoria, shopping malls in ten minute driving distance. Some of nearby attractions include Long Beach Park, Bamberton National Park and beautiful Malahat Summit in ten~fifteen minute driving distance.
The unit we occupied was one half of a cabin. The studio- like accommodation had two double beds, couch, TV, no kitchenette, but a bar fridge and a microwave. The bathroom was very well renovated, and everything was very clean. Wi-fi is free and works ok. It is unfortunate that the setting is adjacent to Hwy. 1, which is the busy thoroughfare from the north to the south of Vancouver Island. Traffic noise is incessant during the day, and it only gets quieter beween midnight and 5AM. The place is not prepared for hot summer days, as there is no air conditioning or fan. For a Motel 6-style accommodation a rate of $149 per night (plus taxes) is excessive and disappointing. There is a fireplace for the cool season, but the use of it is an extra $15. Think before you book.

Come and visit our newly renovated motel. We offer clean comfortable rooms at a very affordable price and we are open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. We offer free hot breakfast. Our property is located on 2.5 acres of beautifully wooded and landscaped grounds overlooking the stunning BC coastal mountain range.
We didn't mention we had 2 small dogs upon check-in and subsequently were told to wait for a room. First half an hour, 1hr then 2. After 2+ hrs we asked for $back and they declined because they have a "72hr cancellation policy". They didn't provide the room over 2hours past check-in when we left, highway robbery literally

the Falcon Nest Motel is comfortable clean and affordable Motel. Our establishment is old but sturdy and sound. When you stay with us we make every possible effort to make you happy.Give us a try and i guaranty that you will not be disappointed.
I don’t know how this place can have any 4 star rating...NOT even close! I’d give it a zero stat if i could! Hole in the wall, plumbing not working, missing lightbulbs, sketchy clientele, dirty exterior. Did not feel safe either...

After checking me in during my previous stay (one week prior) and checking me in during this stay with a debit card & photo ID, Ramada kicked me out of their hotel half way through my stay this time around because, apparently, they realized that it was against company policy to allow guests to stay if they were paying with debit card or cash. While that may be a reasonable policy, it is unreasonable to force guests to leave half way through their stay after realizing a mistake was made while checking a guest in by Ramada staff. Of course employees are not perfect and should have the freedom to make mistakes and learn from those mistakes without punishment. However, hotel management should not punish guests for employees mistakes through kicking guests out of the hotel after they have settled in and simply have one night left on their stay.
