Completed a total renovation in July, 2013.Manager's reception Mon - Thurs -5:30-7:00
Maintenance man was watching tv in one of my rooms upon entry. Beer cans in hallway. Carpet, bathroom and curtains had stains. Make sure you check out within 10 mins of check in and don’t wash your hands because they will keep your money. I checked out 30 mins later and was told I couldn’t get a refund. I still left. This hotel is not a 3 star hotel as advertised. Oh and it a hole in the ceiling of the lobby area. The manager refused to address our concerns over the phone. Apparently she only works 9am-2pm!

The Austin Motel opened its doors in 1938, and its landmark neon sign has been brightening South Congress Avenue ever since. This recently remodeled 41-room motel, with classic motor court exterior, is centrally located in the heart of Austin’s most interesting cultural district and is close to downtown, the Congress bat bridge and other area attractions. The iconic motel’s amenities include a swimming pool with pool bar, communal hangout spaces, free WiFi, flat-screen TVs, and complimentary parking. The 24-hour reception desk and retail store caters to guest needs, offering snacks, drinks and interesting mementos.
This place is definitely not for everyone. Not trying to be rude its just the reality and they say the same. Our group had mixed feelings but we all agreed the location cant be beat. Its good for what it is…. “what it is” may not be a good fit for some people. We booked it as an old and funky motel on purpose….. or at least my husband did. I landed there by accident. For me, Alexis at the front desk made the difference in customer service. I started this review has a 3 but upped it to a 4 just because of her. If she works while you stay, youre in good hands. 1 thing of note: It’s a literal key and you only get 1. This worked fine for us but it was a surprise. Certainly a “know before you go” item. The one absolute negative, regardless if you love it or hate it…. The pool pass people. The hotel allows the public to buy a seasonal or daily pass. Personal opinion aside (if you think this is acceptable/fair etc) they apparently don’t have to follow the same policies as guests. As a guest you are told you must only purchase drinks from the bar or the front reception/bodega. There is no outside beverages. Period. Except pool pass people have packed in giant coolers with all sorts of drinks and thats ok. That is a very unfair and disrespectful practice. Everyone should follow the same rules and the rules should be enforced evenly for all.

It’s an older hotel it’s good for the price great location! and it had the extra beds we needed so we decided to give it a try . It ended up being very quiet clean and safe so we ended up booking an extra night . .it woulda have been even better had we known they had breakfast but they didn’t mention it . I only knew when I saw the sign at checkout . So you might want to ask . But when I come back to Austin this is the place I’m staying.

Worst place I've ever stayed. Room smelled terrible and the water wouldn't stop running in the tub. Place should be condemned...And closed to the public. Never ever again stay at a Days Inn or Wyndam.

Motel 6 Austin Airport is conveniently located within 5 miles from the Austin-Bergstrom Airport. Relax in our outdoor pool. Other great amenities includes free Wi-Fi and a coin laundry available to our guests.
Fairly clean building, however I got penalized with $235 Towing fee because I forgot to put the parking pass clearly visible on my dashboard. I had to get a Lyft to the Towing company and pay them to release my car. I was about to even miss my flight and the hotel management did not offer any help to get me discount from the Towing company.

If you ever have a choice between a tent under a freeway overpass and this Motel 6, pick the the tent. This place is horrible. The room looked like it hadn't been cleaned in weeks. There was some kind of construction going on and everything was filled with toxic paint fumes. The sheets had holes in them. But this was the best part: the toilet was backed up when I got there. Went to the front desk and, I kid you not, the guy hands me a plunger and says 'that's the best I can do'. I found a different hotel and left, but they still charged me for the room.

Worst experience. Quite literally a roach motel. Will be probably submitting misrepresentation to the better business bureau. Awful quality. Will never ever ever recommend this hotel to anyone and will be writing another review online.

I had stayed there previously in the middle of the freeze last January. There was no heat and no water cups. I didn't complain about it. 2nd time I called ahead to see if I can have an early check in at 12pm and was told yes. When I arrived they said I'd have to come at 3:30pm. After I explained that I had called ahead and was told I could arrive early, the unfriendly rep at the desk just shrugged her shoulders with an attitude. I called the company I booked it with and explained I'm on a schedule and could they find me another hotel or I want a refund. I was on hold forever while he claimed to be calling the motel. I was told it was non refundable. So I came back to this Motel 6 after waiting for the grumpy employee to finally acknowledge her guest; she asked for my ID and I could barely hear the woman behind the glass, she tells me "You can't stay here." I asked her, "What?!? Why?" She then calls her other employee who couldn't give less of a care and an old man who looked like the KFC Kernel who didn't even look me in the eye and shoo'd me away. So after being ganged up on and still given no explanation as to why I couldn't stay there or at any of their cheap hotels. I walked out. And will be making sure that they is a stop payment on my credit card!
