Reviewed By fabiens840We had a great stay at Tiron's house with his family! The food prepared by his wife and mother is the best authentic Sri Lanka food we had so far! The room is so nicely done, with polished concrete, wood and ceramics walls in the bathroom. The balcony is so relaxing! We definitely recommend it for couples and families with kids. The house is far from the main road, the place is calm, and the surroundings so peaceful. Mr Tiron organized us a first class safari with Mr Taranga! Thx again and see you next time hopefully! Great place for safari
Reviewed By koenb257We really loved our experience here. The room was clean and spacious and the people nice. Especially the safari Max arranged for us was great: the guide didn't race around the park chasing elephants, but took his time to show us a plethora of animals and tried to keep a respectful distance to the animals. True 10/10 experience!

Nandu has organised a really nice safari for me, has prepared a good dinner for me even if i was alone. We have spent all the evening to discuss of our life and experinces around a fire he has made to cook manioc with him and his family. An amazing evening like if i was from the family. Stutti Nandu and Ayubowan.

Wonderful stay + best Safari!
Reviewed By polaw2017We spent 2 nights in one of the rooms in the first floor with a little balcony and lake view (through the trees). The room is a bit small, but very nice, clean and with AC! We slept very well. The nature around is great and we swam in the little lake (don’t be afraid of the waran that also swims around sometimes, he is very friendly!). The food cooked by the owner’s wife is really great! The family is really nice and helps with all questions. The best, however, was the Safari wie did with the owner. We went on for 7 hours which is highly recommended as you can drive deeper into the national park than during 4 hours. Samantha is amazing: He spots every animal, no matter how small or how far away it is! His eyes are really incredible! It took us sometimes 5 minutes to see the animals he found while driving around... We had some incredible encounters with elephant families, so many, and a nice little fruit lunch in the nature. He also managed to avoid the big tourist masses and a lot of times there were only us and the gorgeous nature. Stay at the Splendid Lake Safari Lodge, you won’t regret it :)

One night for safari trip
Reviewed By magdzialena_kI visited with my friends. We booked two budget rooms and they were all we needed for the stay. The owner of this place is the nicest and kindest man ever. He helped with everything, even extra requests such as a mosquito repellent. Additionally for a really good price he ordered us a jeep with the driver for the Udawalawe safari trip. The driver himself was amazing at spotting animals and was also helpful with buying tickets and everything. All in all we got a lift straight from the resort to the safari and back. After the trip the owner prepared breakfast for us and gave tips and help for our further travel. We could not have asked for more and kinder hospitality!

After we informed them that we weren't planning on going on a safari, because we had already planned it elsewhere, they kicked us out, and immediately turned off the electricity so we couldn't use the WIFI to find another place. We've been to a variety of countries, but have never seen nor experienced something like this. There are so many nice places to stay in the area, this hotel is not worth it. Furthermore, the rooms are very dirty and the lady wasn't friendly to begin with.

Quick stopover for lunch after safari
Reviewed By Srilal MStopped over for a quick lunch after a tiring morning safari in the uda walawe wild life park. Pleasantly surprised to see the new log cabin like individual units. The rippling water of the nearby stream soothes one’s soul. They are also building a swimming pool which will add value. Sadly only a few guests for lunch only. But tasty Sri Lankan rice and curry.

Reviewed By 134sofiacWe loved staying here for our safari trip. The family that run the resort are all absolutely lovely and amazing hosts. The mum is a fantastic cook and made us the most delicious dinner and breakfast. Best meals I had in Sri Lanka. The sons really know their stuff and took us on a fantastic tour of the National Park making sure we saw everything we wanted to. It is a little buggy, but it’s next to a National Park so to be expected. However the rooms are kept spotless and they try their absolute best to keep the restaurant area bug free. Have recommended this place to three people already and will continue to do so!

Reviewed By sarahfallulahThe afternoon safari we did with Priyantha was perfect, we saw lots of animals and it was so reasonably priced. The shadow guest house was perfect, we felt so welcomed! The owners always wore big beautiful smiles and welcomed us with fresh juice and amazing food. We will recommend to all of our friends!

One big fail
Reviewed By Petr KCant recommend this place :(. So far our biggest disappointment in Sri Lanka. Room looked ok, but AC not working, fan made strange noise and room was super hot. During night traffic noise and karaoke from across the street. Bugs during night. They cook, unfortunatelly cant recommend their food either..was way too oily (and quite expensive). Better to eat elsewhere. But most sad of all was their approach. With smile on their face they tried to rob us and made a dork of us when organizing safari..Asked for more than they should and then said very untrustworthy stories. Better to buy tickets directly at ticket counter. At max to use their driver for 3500lkr. (Cancelled reservation on booking not to get inconvenient rating). Best to avoid this homestay. ;)
