Frequently referred to as the "Venice of the North," almost every palace and state building in this grand city was constructed by an Italian architect. Saint Petersburg is Russia's most westernized city, with no ancient history, it looks very contemporary - just as it was meant to be when Peter the Great founded it in 1701. Some say that living in this "northern capital" is like living in a museum.

A friend had recommended we go to BIP Castle for lunch after a visit to Catherine Palace. The Castle is a 20min drive from the Palace. According to the Castle’s manager, Sasha, the Castle was a gift to Paul from his mother Catherine when he got married. The place was quiet and peaceful. We had the chestnut soup and borscht for starters as well as vegetable pancakes. They were so fresh that we felt the vegetables had just been hand picked before being brought on our table. For the main, we both had the baked herring with vegetables. It was fresh and tasty. Because all dishes are cooked on the spot, lunch took about 2 hrs. If you’re not in a hurry, it’s worth visiting to get away from the hustle and bustle of the city. Sasha, the manager called us a taxi to get back to our hotel. He was very kind and helpful.

The Voyage hotel is located in the rapidly developing area just near the highway Pulkovskaya close to the international Pulkovo airport and Expoforum. This district of the city is attractive for various winning reasons. There are lots of shopping malls, the newly opened Outlet Village, various entertaining centers. Close to the hotel there is a bus stop from which you can get subway Moskovskaya easily. There is also a beltway KAD that brings you to any destination of the city quite fast if you are a driver. Pulkovskay observatory, historical monuments and memorials are closed to Voyage, not to mention, famous suburbs like Pushkin Town with Catherine Palace, as well as Pavlovsk, Peterhof with magnificent fountains, they are all in a 10-20 minutes drive away.

+ Eugeny was very friendly, very helpful. He shared with us a lot of information about the place and things to do. We really appreciated that he had taken the initiative to arrange for our pick up from the train station and drop off to the airport. Breakfast at the next door cafe was good. We enjoyed the local dishes. Comfortable bed. 3 mins to Palace Square and 10-15mins to a lot of local attractions by foot. Overall we enjoyed our stay. - Room felt a bit smaller. It was a bit noisy during daytime on the day we arrived bcoz of some building work happening in the neighbourhood and we couldn't rest properly. But it didn't bother after that as we were out most of the time :). Water was not hot in the shower.

Our guesthouse in the centre of St Petersburg is a former priest's apartment which we have restored and gently adapted to give a carefully balanced mix of private and public space. All rooms have their own distinctive character and large bathrooms (some with windows). Breakfast is free, as are coffee and tea at any time and a very fast Wi-Fi connection. We try to provide our guests with any help they may need.
we stayed in the property, which is very nice and felt like home. not so crowded. limited rooms makes you feel great privacy and cozy. the staff nice and helpful. the bed very comfy. the most interesting point: one will reach beautiful Nevsky Prospekt or Great Hermitage museum just by short distance walk!

Good hotel, easy to find. Personal speaks no english, but is very helpful at all. I arrived very sick at the hotel. My room was a mess but the hotel cleaned everything an put my things in the closet. Thumbs up for this. They don't have breakfast, but there are a lot of good restaurants outside with good prices. Better don't use the lift in the building!

"Sonata on Zagorodniy" is 31 comfortable rooms. All our rooms are equipped with air conditioning, LED TVs, mini-bars, Wi-fi and many others. The hotel is located on 5 floors of a 17th century building in the historical center of St. Petersburg
The hotel is next to metro station so it's very convenient. Also, it's close to the main street as well as shops and restaurants. Just a short walk would get you anything. The room was spacy and that would be about it.

Less than 5 minute walk to the Hermitage and all that is near it. Excellent walking distance to Peter and Paul Fortress, St. Isaac's Cathedral, Summer Garden and maybe most importantly - pyshkis! Great pyshki place is 1 minute away. A very friendly store is also right across the street. Nice neighborhood with high end shopping and good restaurants moments away. It is on the 5th floor with no lift, so it is a little drawback for some and something one MUST consider before booking.
