Papatura is a private island located in the Santa Isabel Provence in the Solomons. Your bungalows are just steps from a magnificent white sand beach and pristine coral reef. Step off the map at Papatura with it's rugged tropical jungle, uncrowded surf breaks and world class fishing. Book the whole island or come alone for your Papatura experience.
Their motto is "Step off the map", and this is exactly what you do. No phones, no internet (unless you ask). Fantastic way to turn the world off and relax. Great fishing, endless things to do. The perfect hosts. We arrived as guests and left, having become friends. Definitely, highly, recommend it, and looking forward to going back. Did I mention the food???? Unbelievable!

Matikuri Lodge sits at the northeast end of Matikuri Island on the western arc of the world’s largest lagoon, Marovo. Built in the early 1990’s, guests have their own small leaf house with a completely private deck sitting over the water – a perfect place to idle away a day or stargaze. With other uninhabited islands dotted close by, Matikuri is the perfect place for kayaking and it’s also an enjoyable canoe trip around the island in one of the local dugouts. The reef extending out in front of the main house offers snorkeling with easy access.
We stayed in a room overlooking the water with a mosquito net for four nights. The magic of this place is the family that we stayed with and the incredible day trips that we did to various different snorkling spots which was amazing. We grew to love our hosts Joshua, Wendy, Teddy, Judy and the kids and we miss them. Someone left a review saying that the food was bad in 2017, our experience was the exact opposite - the food was amazingly tasty!! Incredible fresh fruit and catered to our sometimes difficult vegetarian/vegan dietary needs. We miss and think about this place often and would love to come back. It gives you such a beautiful Solomons experience to stay here!

We stayed at Titiru Eco Lodge for four nights in July 2019, and it was fantastic. Our family (of four) stayed in an over the water bungalow which had beautiful views. The generator is generally only on for a few hours every night, so be prepared for that if you need to charge batteries, phones etc. The staff were one of the greatest highlights at Titiru, they were always so kind and welcoming, cooked amazing food and on a day where it rained all day they showed us how to weave baskets, which was a great way to pass the time. They also took us on short trips to the local village and to a local snorkelling spot which was great. On our second last night we had dinner on a raft in the river, which was probably the highlight of our time at Titiru. Overall we had a great time here, and we would highly recommend it to anyone thinking of going to Solomon Islands.

We stayed at Drifwood for 10 nights, From good food to world class diving & snorkeling and the fact that we were cut off from internet and phone made for a memorable & special holiday. My 6 & 10 yrs old boys were in & out of the water all day and hung out with the local kids all day everyday. The locals are respectful & kind. We absolutely loved it & going back next year.

We recently travelled to Mavo Lodge as a group of six, including my 7 year old daughter and 80 year old Father-in-law. If you're looking for something off the beaten track then this is for you. Firstly, ENSURE that you have the beachside huts. Somehow our accommodation had been double booked and for the first few nights we had to sweat it out in the rooms attached to the main lodge. Tiny hot boxes, no breeze, right next to the kitchen, generator outside the bedroom window. Not pleasant at all. I'm fact if we had to stay there our trip would've been terrible. As soon as we moved down to the huts it was amazing. Food is plentiful albeit monotonous and often served cold. The staff do what they can with limited facilities and resources. Being Seven Day Adventists there is no meat. If you pay extra, they will dive for crayfish and/Or crabs. The snorkelling is the best I've ever experienced. Coral, stingrays, reef sharks, turtles and an abundance of tropical fish. The staff are all very accommodating. Hilda was a firm favourite! She was great with my daughter. Take gifts. There is a 30kg weight limit so clothes, books, thongs, pencils etc are appreciated. A visit to the school is a must. If you're not fishing, 7 days is enough time. If you are fishing - take big capacity reels, deep diving lures and at least 8oz sinkers. The water is deep (200mts plus) There is no phone reception at all and no hot water. There is a bar type setup where you can purchase beers. We took a small esky with salami, cheese and crackers for sundowners. The holiday really was incredible. Very laid back, something for everyone, beautiful beaches and loads of fish. Highly recommended.

Situated 10 minutes from Sobiro airstrip in Gatokae Island, Ropiko is the gateway to the beautiful Morova Lagoon, the world's largest barrier island lagoon. Nestling in a large coconut grove with it's own white sand beach and surrounded by stunning orchids Ropiko is a true tropical paradise.
I have spent a wonderful week at Ropico Resort in June 2019. Ron, the manager and his lovely family are very friendly and helpful. Ron can arrange different snorkeltrips or hikes into the Island. There is also a great divecenter just a boatride away. And dont miss to visit the little village where you ab meet one of the great carvers from Marovo Lagoon. One week was definately to short! So I am sure to come again.

This was our 2nd visit to Urilolo and this time we stayed 11 days. We grabbed supplies in town and met William at the dock. He had a new esky and we grabbed ice on the way out. Since our last visit he has built another bungalow. He also has plans to build a 3rd that has it's own ensuite bathroom. The shower and toilet at the moment is only steps away anyway. As with our last visit everything was perfect. The location is beautiful, the locals are friendly and helpful. It is completely safe. We easily filled our days snorkelling and fishing. We visited Kennedy Is and Simbo Is both for the 1st time. We caught the local truck into town and William picked us up by boat later with our groceries. Most things are available in town so self catering is easy. The local kids are great and William's son is always entertaining and a wealth of information. If you want a genuine local experience you can't go past Urilolo. William and Serilyn and all their family are friendly and super organised and reliable. William's prices for both accommodation and activities are so reasonable. Can't recommend highly enough. Hopefully we will have the opportunity to visit for a 3rd time. Other than New Zealand, the Solomon's are the only other place we have returned to for the 2nd time. It really is a magical place with amazing people. We wish everyone in Seraghi village all our best and thanks for another wonderful holiday. Jo and Paul

It hasn't had a review for a while but the lodge is still open and well worth the visit. Very peaceful and beautiful setting with mountain views, even more impressive after a tropical storm. Expect to be the only people there. We spent 2 nights, spending our days hiking in the dense rainforest and reading on the expansive deck. Very relaxing! TIPS: You need to bring all your food, and bring some for your guide(s) too. We organised everything via the forms/emails on the KIBCA website. They organised a boat to pick us up in Gizo and payment was in cash on arrival. All went very smoothly, but I recommend email/call the day before to confirm. It's not the cheapest trip: Boat from Gizo SBD1585 one way (up to 6 people), accommodation SBD450/person/night, 4WD to lodge SBD400/trip. All linen provided and room is clean. Shower/toilet is fine though fairly basic, wear sandals and watch for spiders and centipedes :-).

I had an amazing day out at Savo Island. I organised the trip with Bernard through the Tourist office in Honiara, he was extremely helpful and organised the whole day trip for me and a friend. The day included travel from Honiara, lunch and a choice of two activities. The options for activities included: a volcano hike, dolphin watching, a village tour and bird watching. Usually, guests of Sunset lodge stay there for the weekend and then return back to Honiara. However, I was short on time. The day trip was amazing and well organised. Bernard’s family were very welcoming and kind and it was lovely to meet them. I would definitely recommend going and I look forward to going back at some point and seeing them all.

One hour away by boat from Munda, it is a deep immersions into tradional lifestyle. Despite prepaid card, no internet, hardly phone transmission. Has a phatastic bungalow, overlooking the lagoon for sunset with balcany chair and table, and beautiful orchid in a vase. Attached western toilet with bucket shower. Bedroomm quite small, but OK, plus a small general/lounge room. Electricity by generator in the evening for a short time to load batteries. Very nice traditional meals, had twice coconut crab - delicious! Try the paddling in a wooden canoe, not as easy as it looks, and get good instructions from Grace or her husband Wanha how do do it! Very good snokel spot short boat ride away. Watch out for the croc!
