The receptionist, Manuela, was delightful. Very sweet and bubbly. She showed us to our rooms and went through her info list and instructions, but we failed to ask how to turn on the heat (it’s been unseasonable cold in southern Italy/Sicily). We were there only two nights, but getting the two rooms on the fourth floor warm was a challenge. My room (with the little terrace) finally warmed up by the second night. I was wishing the weather was better to enjoy the terrace – it was really beautiful at night. In the other room, the heat wouldn’t stay on, so the second night she stayed with one of our friends on the second floor (a two room suite). The beds were very comfortable. The two rooms on the 4th floor have an open stairway for the last flight, FYI. Could be tricky in inclement weather, but the elevator door has a small roof so that would be an option. The breakfast room was exceptionally cold. We all wore coats and scarves to breakfast. The buffet was simple but good, and they make cappuccinos/espresso/Americano to order. The hotel has a great location near the Arthemusa fountain and the main shopping district – and just a short walk to the Piazza del Duomo. I was researching for a group tour later this year; I probably wouldn't take a group here, but for individual travel it would be great.

I stayed for 2 nights, next time I would stay longer because there is so much to see and do in Noto and around. Owner is very friendly and helpful. Rooms spacious and clean, breakfast very good. Parking easy. We went to the beach, Lido di Noto. It is a wonderful beach. Next time I come to Noto I hope to stay here again.

We chose this place for our stay in Avola primarily because it is a new bread-and-breakfast establishment and we did not regret it. Our host Vanessa (that runs it with her sister) was simply magnificent: she guided us for the street parking, helped with our luggage and provided advice on restaurant and the center of Avola. Our bedroom was spacious, had very high ceiling, and was beautifully decorated with antique furniture. The bathroom had been completely renovated and had all the modern amenities. The common living room is immense, well furnished and has books, magazines, music etc... For breakfast, Vanessa prepared a beautiful fruit plate (as per our wish) and we had it on the terrace as she recommened. Overall a very comfortable and nice stay. Would not hesistate to return if in the area.

Be careful because to the thieves and crooks. I made reservations around 7pm, paid and no one was there, when I called I was informed that they were working until 5pm. I had to look for a new place, and they refuse to refund because I arrived too late.

Angela was there to welcome us on our arrival. What a gorgeous place Casa dei Carrubi is. Our room was set by the pool which was very inviting on a hot, hot day. Everything was spotless, and comfortable. The breakfasts were great - tailored to our wishes, and we also sat outside in the evening to have an al fresco supper with "bits" we had bought locally, especially the local tomatoes and tuna. Our favourite place became Marzememi, and the beautiful old square where people congregated in the evenings. We also found a gorgeous public beach en route to Marzememi where the water was just right - shelving into the sea - it would be perfect for children. All in all, a delightful stay.

Janet and her husband are very friendly and as there are only 4 bungalows, you feel very soon like at home ! The swimming pool is nice (may be more recommended for children who can already swim than with very young children), but with my 7 years old daughter even at the beginning of May, it was perfect. The breakfast is excellent and Janet is of very good advice on what to do, where to eat if you don't want to cook etc... You need a car (but globaly it is better to have one to visit Sicilia...) and you are only 15 minutes from Syracuse, Noto (where parkings are affordable for a few hours but expensive on a longer term...) and 5 minutes from wonderfull beaches. I recommend Bungalow Janet to people who are looking for a friendly place (probably easier if you speak a bit of Italian or German but OK too if you are speaking english; Janet and her husband will anyway do their best to help you !).
