SANTA JUANA RURAL MOUNTAIN ADVENTURE LODGE & NATURE RESERVE Created to immerse our guests in an authentic Costa Rica rural mountain experience, Santa Juana Lodge takes you back to a simpler time, far from the stressful life of the modern world. Life in the jungle-covered slopes of the Central Pacific Mountains revolves around an agricultural tradition and the simple adventures of hiking, waterfall swimming, horseback riding, and exploring the nature reserve. This is an exclusive retreat, with beautifully appointed, freestanding cabins along the crest of a hillside ridge, each with panoramic views of the Pacific Mountain Wet Forest against the backdrop of the Pacific Ocean spanning the horizon. Santa Juana is staffed by residents of the tiny Pueblo of Santa Juana. You’ll delight in their hospitality, enjoy delicious local food prepared in the traditional ways of the Costa Rican campesinos, and drink deeply of that most elusive commodity in our busy, hectic world — genuine relaxation. SANTA JUANA RURAL MOUNTAIN ADVENTURE TOUR There is no experience quite like the combination of the “magic of nature” and Costa Rica’s authentic rural heritage on this, our highest-rated tour. Greentique Certified Guides take you on an amazing tour of nature, conservation, and rural culture. You’ll hike along lush jungle-shrouded slopes where three rivers are born, then swim in one of the regions most pristine natural pool beneath a mesmerizing waterfall, spot all kinds of fascinating wildlife, fish for tilapia, visit an authentic sugar mill powered by massive oxen, and horseback ride (optional). Then step back in time to enjoy a traditional Campesino-style lunch while enjoying the panoramic vista of Manuel Antonio National Park and the Pacific Ocean that fills the horizon. You’ll also become a vital participant in the Carbon Offset/Native Tree Reforestation Program, adopting your own tree as you help conserve this priceless watershed within Greentique’s Cloudmaker Nature Reserve.
The Santa Juana Lodge is an exceptional experience. The casitas are lovely, and all have an amazing view, beautiful walk in shower and relaxing porch. Do not be deterred by the lack of air conditioning in this eco-friendly hotel—the breeze and fans are all you need .The personal attention and openness of the small staff there was outstanding. Allan, our guide, grew up in the little village there, and has tremendous knowledge and love for the local history, terrain and wildlife. His tours were excellent, and I learned to love bird watching. His mother is the chef at the open air restaurant, and in addition to her delicious traditional cooking, went out of her way to make pancakes and salads for our granddaughters. We stayed for three nights, and when time came to leave, felt we were saying goodbye to friends. Pura Vida

Comfortable bed, nice atmosphere and friendly staff! My only complaints were that they did not have extra pillows and the shower did not get very hot. Also, the breakfast is VERY simple:m; just some toasts, hard boiled egg and fruits. I did not like the coffee or juice.

Rafiki is a sustainable adventure lodge located in the Savegre Valley of Costa Rica. The lodge sits on 840 acres of tropical forest. Rafiki specializes in custom white water rafting, horseback riding and hiking trips. Guests sleep in imported luxury Safari Tents which feature hydro electric fans and lights. Each tent sits on a raised hardwood platform, has a deluxe bathroom with glass showers heated with solar power. We had an amazing experience at Rafiki. The whole staff was attentive and provided an outstanding service. Even though we got hit with a tropical storm, they did everything to make us feel safe and when was time for us to leave they clear our path safely and made sure that we were out on the main road on time for our departure. Food is delicious! This is the real spirit of glamorous camping. My 3 year old and my 6 year old had a blast playing in the river and doing nature walks. We would definitely come back! Thanks again Rafiki Staff!!!!

and we enjoyed our time here. Wonderful breakfast with extra toast and coffee. Easy to book rides to activities such as cloud forest. Small parking lot and steep uphill walk from downtown are the only drawbacks. Owner and crew are wonderful.

The lodge is as described and pictured. We chose the apartment as we wanted a kitchen. It had everything necessary to make food, even oil and salt and pepper. The grounds are also nice. We saw several species of birds. We also enjoyed the breakfast which was included. The staff were helpful.

Varied banana trees, heliconias attracted birds including a pair of scarlet macaws. The pool area was a nice place to sit and relax. The town nearby town was a plus as it had a few small take out food places. It is close to Carara National Park. Scarlet macaws visit the immediate. Within a few minutes drive are several beaches and restaurants on the beach or overlooking the Pacific. The owner, Patricia, was a wealth of information on the area and her positive upbeat personality added to our visit.

We are located at the entrance of Corcovado National Park, on the Osa Peninsula of Costa Rica, nestled in the most beautiful, primary rainforest and surrounded by the Pacific Ocean. Come and see for yourself what paradise looks like, and enjoy all the attention and accommodations of a lavish stay in the wild! Prepare yourself to embark on the journey of a lifetime!
This trip was our first to Costa Rica and this place was amazing. The trek there gave us a little pause but once there we fell in love with everything. We stayed in tent 1 on the beach and after walking up to see the Monkey Cabins I am glad we opted for the beach ones! The howler monkeys were our very early alarm clock but this is why we were there right? We did the half day tour in the park with Alvarro and found the whole experience delightful even with it being so hot for us northern folks. If you are looking for a unique and off the beaten path experience come here!! We’ll certainly be back

393/5000 All our rooms have breathtaking views of the lake and the Arenal Volcano, something that if we make it clear is that we are located in a cloud forest that is not always clear, we continue to a waterfall and others because the hotel has 100 hectares of primary forest, we offer all food services we have a hiking trail for the views of our guests
There was something otherwordly about this place... It's very high up (1600m above sea level), often in the clouds, surronded by prime cloud rainforest... It's very beautiful. It's a bit remote, but there's hiking to do literally on the doorstep, and it's very, very relaxing. The food in thr restorant has a real homemade quality to it, food and wine are affordable, breakfasts are included and again of the highest quality. The decor in the room (a beatiful, bespoke wooden ceiling) was breathtaking and really insipiring. A truly memorable, nourishing experience for the senses and the spirit!

Second time we stayed at Ranchos Remo. The cabines are situated overviewing the rainforest and ocean which gives great opportunity for birdwatching in the early morning from your own balcony. It's situated about 3,5 hours from the airport so an excellent first of second stay after your flight for a few nights. The food is truly amazing. I can say I've had the best pizza here outside of Italy. This place is now a standard stopover on any trip to Costa Rica.

Monteverde Rustic Lodge is a small family run hotel in the heart of Santa Elena Monteverde. Our lodge is recommended for solo travelers, couples, nature lovers and families. Our mission is to make sure that every single guest we have has a great individual experience and that each of you will go home with wonderful memories.
So the good: nice staff, clean room and great breakfast. The bad: no AC, or TV. No screens on the windows ( a lot of bugs in the room) and only a doorknob with no safety chain or deadbolt on the door. Horribly uncomfortable spring mattress. To be fair, this is a $60/night room which was appropriate for the accommodations.
