Activities at the hotel include hikes to the waterfall, horseback riding, enjoying a refreshing swim in our pool, or simply relaxing with a massage in our spa. Arenal Observatory Lodge is the perfect place for adventure lovers, families, and honeymooners. With its spectacular location, great service, and friendly personnel you won't be disappointed.
We only were able to stay here one night, but it was a fantastic experience. After getting lost in the dark since there aren't a lot of lights on the streets in CR, we found the hotel and checking in was made super easy! The restaurant was about to close but they politely and excitedly welcomed us to get food as we were starving! The food and service was so GOOD! Our room was spacious and has a stunning view of the Arenal Volcano from the balcony and the other side of the room you walk out and can see the rainforest and hear all the sounds which is lovely. Highly recommend this place for views, area, and budget as well- would def come back!

This wonderful place is the results of several years of conservation, allowing to a different species of animal a new home; at the beginning of the 80's was a big cattle field and now it is a paradise for Sloths, Mexican Anteater, Gray Fox, Ocelots, howler Monkeys, Toucans, Manakines, Hummingbirds, Turkeys, Tree Frogs, Glass Frogs and Poison Dart Frogs, Snakes, Lizards and much more...Accomplishing this rich natural environment, the Rojas Bonilla family created some cabins out in the woods, restaurant and one thematic trail of a several stations all along the refuge, where the visitors get a speech about natural history of the species.
The trails and gardens offered a ton of wildlife and flora. We thoroughly enjoyed spending free time walking the property. The restaurant on the property was great for all meals and drinks and relatively inexpensive compare to other touristy restaurants. It is walking distance to la Fortuna falls if you enjoy a little adventure (about 25min). There was no AC, but the ceiling fan kept the room reasonable during this time of year. Highly recommend the night walk that they offer. We saw several frogs and reptiles!

Luna Nueva really felt like a home away from home! The land there is gorgeous, with beautiful infrastructure and the staff was beyond amazing. They are the most friendly and kind people you'll ever meet! The food is insanely good, and the location is ideal as it is only a short drive away from la Fortuna and a ton of tours and activities. There are tons of things to do on the farm from hiking and exploring the jungle to learning how to make cacao and all about edible plants, pool, bird watching, etc. The activities in the nearby areas include hot spring resorts, hanging bridges, hikes, horse back riding, zip lining, river rafting, animal tours and more. We will definitely go back!

La Finca Lodge Great accommodations and activities for everyone, private, safe and tranquil, peaceful, surrounded by nature and wildlife; a place like no other, a little piece of the Real Costa Rica!
My family and I (spouse plus 5.5 year old boy) stayed at La finca for 5 nights. First, the staff. Everyone was friendly, patient, kind helpful and insightful, which pretty much sums up all Costa Ricans. Big shout out to Andreas, Ana, Dennis, Jordon and Carmen. Amazing location that is peaceful and beautiful. Close to many of regions most famous attractions (< 45 mins). Casita we stayed had an an open air kitchen and relax area which was a ton fun and the bedrooms and bathrooms, like the whole private unit, was tastefully/locally decorated and worked well. We would got back in a heartbeat. Mayer Family Phoenix April 22'

Mystica Hotel is especially designed for travelers who want to relax and/or be in contact with nature. The lodge sits atop a rolling green hill and is surrounded by lush gardens. The rooms don't have TV, WiFi, or phones to support the complete relaxation of our guests, but there is free WiFi in the reception and restaurant area. Mystica's motto, inspiring all who visit, is: 'Live the Magic!'
Our company rented this retreat centre for a 2-week intensive workshop. The facilities were beautiful, food was outstanding, and the team was so accommodating. Our participants benefitted as much from the environment as they did from the workshop. We are coming back!

Lodge Bosque de Paz A very twisty and potholed road leads to this cloud forest lodge. Our room was fairly spartan, with two queen beds, a table with two rather uncomfortable chairs, and a rack for our gear. The room was poorly illuminated, with just ceiling lights and a small, low wattage table lamp in between the beds. I relax after a busy day by writing the daily events in a journal and the lamp wasn't up to the job. There were only two electrical outlets, and of a design that demanded an adapter. Mario, the manager, was more than happy to provide the adapter. The room was unheated, and due to the high elevation, was cold and damp. There were plenty of blankets available and we used them all. The bed was comfortable, but the pillows were lumpy. The towels in the bathroom were never truly dry, even after laundering. While the bathroom sink only had hot water in the evenings, the shower had plenty of hot water. Both the bathroom and the room itself were spotlessly clean. We never saw an insect in the room at any time. The opportunities for photography or birding were everywhere. The lawn fronting the dining hall had numerous hummingbird feeders and beyond it, an area were agoutis, pacas, squirrels and coatimundis came to feed. In the morning I heard howler monkeys. We hiked through the beautiful forest, appreciating that it had never, ever been logged or managed. The staff of Bosque de Paz treated us like visiting royalty. There was nothing we wanted for (well, perhaps a little warmer weather, but it IS cloud forest). Our meals were fabulous, the portions huge. No fear of going hungry here! You could have '''typical food", the term for regular Costa Rican fare, that usually meaning the ubiquitous black beans and rice dish served with most meals. Or you could ask for 'american' cuisine, meaning eggs, toast, etc. Breakfast was eggs, or cereal, along with freshly picked fruit like mangos, papayas, watermelon and pineapple in the morning. My coffee hound husband adored the coffee so much we eventually brought home several bags. "American" food was staple in the evenings, the cook showing her expertise with perfectly cooked fresh tilapia (a farmed fish), or pork chops, chicken, etc. Their attention to service was such that I'm betting I could have asked for barbecued hippo and somehow, it would have been arranged. Bosque de Paz was the perfect introduction to life in Costa Rica.

We stayed here for 10 days in November 2021. The room was clean, with hot water and wifi access. This is a nice lodge with a waterfall, lots of trails, a viewpoint and lots of red eye tree frogs on site. A nice place to stay when in Bijagua.
