Don't let its size fool you; Spain's smallest province makes a big name for itself with enticing wines and spectacular scenery. From its healing thermal baths to its rugged mountain trails, La Rioja provides the perfect getaway to any traveler. Action junkies can find adventures skiing, biking or white-water rafting, while the more sedate will find a peaceful respite sipping wine in the region's lush vineyards, or walking the famous pilgrims' trail to Santiago.

Our inn is an old farm house from the XVIIIth Century completelly renovated with today's commodities. It is located in Rioja Alta, in the valley of Ezcaray with beautifull mountain surroundings, very near the ski resort of Valdezcaray and only 20 minutes away from the ancient wineries of RIOJA.
We spent three days/two nights here for a short break - combination of hill walking, sun bathing and swimming. The hotel is a renovated farm house in a beautiful small village sitting in a mountain valley. The village has three restaurants (the two we tried were absolutely good) and a really nice open air swimming pool about 5 minutes walk from the hotel. Really refreshing after a few hours in the hills! Room was beautifully decorated, very clean and the owner and staff were extremely helpful and really made us welcome. The house is really beautiful and the breakfasts were very good. All in all a great choice of location followed by hotel. Definitely recommend it! One minor comment: the price was justified by the quality of the establishment but it was not a bargain.

I visited this 'pension' in the month of February to visit my son; who has recently relocated to Logroño. I had booked in to another pension just a minute or 2 walk away; however the Host (Sandra) explained there was some kind of 'problem' with that room (although the problem was never fully reached). Some alarm bells rang in my mind, bout my fears/anxieties were soon allayed once allocated a room here. The Pension is located about 7 mins each from either the train or coach stations. Extremely easy to reach, with the aid of a 'GPS'. The main street of Logroño, Calle del Laurel (where the action is) was only a short walking distance away also. The room was extremely sizeable with high, airy ceilings. The walls seemed freshly decorated, and the bedding and towels provided very clean. In turn, the communal WC and shower areas were impeccably clean (there were 2 of these). Other bonuses, TV and WiFi in the room. Sadly, no drinks area or use of a kettle. Overall, how could I fault such a place offering considerable value for money, despite the early 'hiccup'?

A quiet and restful place. A restored 1760 house has a lot of character – and ability to stay relatively cool in the summer heat. The management is super helpful and friendly. Bikes are available to take for a day and the disused railway provides excellent cycling opportunities. Hot springs are a short pleasant walk along the river. For parking, it may work best to park alongside the main road and walk down around 5 minutes. Good wi-fi. Breakfast in restaurant La Pista up the hill is excellent.

Travelled with family and two dogs and stayed here for one winter night. We all enjoyed our stay very much. Unique place. Wonderful food. A lovely couple is running this place. With renovating this place and eventually turning it from a ruin into a very fine guesthouse, the owners have created a turnaround for the whole village which had once been a forgotten and abandoned place. Today: excellence and heart in all details. - This transformation indeed is an outstanding achivement on the side of the owners of the place, and a genuine pleasure and lovely experience for their guests. Loved it!

The owner was very welcoming, lovely simple breakfast. As I am having Spanish lessons she helped me with my vocabulary. The home made Bizcocho cake was delicious. We were give some to take away with us. We eat at the community center down by the river as the only restaurant wasn't open at 8pm it opens later. Sat nav to found the Casa reasonably well.

We stayed 2 nights here and what a special place this is. The hosts could not have been more lovely, friend and helpful. The food was divine, simple, delicious and much of it grown in their organic garden. The house has been beautifully and tastefully renovated and was a very peaceful and relaxing place to spend time. We definitely plan to come back to this special place.

this messy place has nothing to do with el camino: no warm hospitality. The cook, a blond woman, is a unlikeble person, she treated us like mendigos, the tables in the dining room were dirty, covered by flies but they have a projector to see television (hight volume, of course) on the wall. At the end, the desajuno was squalid: only some prepackaged snacks, no coffe left, some milk in a bottle. I wonder: why open an Albergue if you don't love your work and the pilgrims? Ah, they don't put the sello on your Credencial, how smart!
