A boutique resort for adults, located high on the crest of Mt George, in the Hunter Valley. The spa cabins are romantic, tranquil and secluded and equipped with everything you need for a unique bushland getaway. The region is home to an amazing variety of native Australian birds and animals, including colourful parrots, kangaroos, wallabies, wombats, echidnas, 2000 year old grass trees, and the majestic wedge tailed eagles. Escape to Cabins in the Clouds.
Came home from this gorgeous place last Tuesday ,our cabin was perfect spa was fantastic it is so peaceful and quiet and the view was amazing. We had a few kookaburras drop in to say hello. The king size bed was so comfy had all the amenities you need in the kitchen there is a tennis court also but my best part was definitely sitting in the hot spa with a few drinks or two.

Ok, I'm rather biased in writing this review but please read on. My name is Rod Courtney and I was the project manager and partner from inception of the business through to 2009. Life sometimes doesn't take you were you think and it certainly didn't for my wife and I, but I would not have changed building this place for the world. Wild Edge Retreat was and remains a very special place in our hearts. Although the previous owners to Mick and Emma were entirely forgettable, all I can say is that I am very proud to know that both of them (Mick and Emma) have not only kept up the very high standards we ourselves did, but improved on them. Until recently my wife and I had not returned to the property. We were actually married in the Earth Song Pavilion in 2008. It's been a great trip down memory lane. If you are after something very special and different, somewhat secluded and want to escape the crazy world we currently find ourselves living in, you won't find better hosts or facilities in this part of the Hunter. Wild Edge is a truly special place, confirmed by the multitide of excellent reviews it continues to receive. Thanks Mick and Emma. You truly are special people. Jennie and I hope you thorough enjoy Wild Edge Retreat.

Self contained accommodation for groups in a tranquil rural setting. 3 accommodation spaces catering for groups of 4 to 28 guests,
We recently stayed at Lovedale Lodge to celebrate a joint 40th birthday. It was a fabulous weekend away and can’t recommend it enough, particularly for large groups. We booked the whole property and had 13 adults and 6 kids (ranging from 18 months to 8 years) with plenty of space for everyone. Lovedale Lodge is situated in Lovedale and close enough to the many wineries the Hunter has on offer so makes a great base to explore the region. The Homestead and Villa are connected via a door allowing it be shut off or kept open depending on your needs. Each had their own kitchen and bathroom with the main bedroom in the Homestead having an ensuite. The Cottage is a separate dwelling but close enough to still feel part of everything yet far enough away to provide a quiet space if needed. The kids often went there to play monopoly! We used the Homestead as ‘home base’ and had all our meals etc. around the big table (can seat around 18 people) and two separate living areas meant there was enough space for the kids to have their own space. A highchair was also provided for our youngest child. Each house is air-conditioned which was definitely needed on a weekend where it reached 43 degrees! The only thing that could be improved is while the bedrooms all had fans (ceiling and some freestanding) the rooms that faced west, particularly given the extreme heat we had, were very hot come night time so aircon would be a great addition! There was plenty of space outside and the pool was a hit with the kids (big and small!). The only improvement here would be some shade over the pool area. We had an exceptionally hot weekend and without the pergola one of our group had brought it would’ve been hard to be in the pool over an extended period without any shade. I understand the pool has only been in for a short time so perhaps this is something that will come with time. Overall, we had a great stay at Lovedale and highly recommend it. Our group loved the weekend away. David was a great host, easy communication in the lead up to our stay and available to contact throughout if any issues. A particularly lovely gesture was the 2 bottles of wine waiting for us when we arrived. We will definitely be back!

Surrounded by Aberdare State Forest and Werakata National Park, Abernethy House is located in the Hunter Valley wine region with Newcastle and some of Australia’s most beautiful beaches at its doorstep.
Our group of friends with kids rented the whole house, fantastic stay over 3 days of Xmas holidays. Beautiful rooms with all amenities, fans, linen, towels. Clean salt water pool where we had fun during those few hot days. Industrial kitchen, cool room, fridges, large dining room for all guests (we always struggle to find a house where we can all sit together for a meal). And above everything, really nice inner court with grape wine leaves as a shade with 2 x barbecues, tables and chairs.

They have re advertised this property under the name “Brokenviews” and it’s terrible and falsely advertised. Avoid this place and save your money. The beds are terrible and broken. It’s dust filled and old- the furniture and decor is grossly outdated and uninviting. The only positive is that there are seperate villas with a communal living space but we didn’t engage in that area because it was uncomfortable old and dirty.

We hired out all three houses for our family as our wedding was at Eaglereach . Our families absolutely loved the properties. The houses allow you to come together or escape for some privacy with all three houses having a fireplace, each of the king rooms had an ensuite and spectacular views. From the moment we booked, the owner Jenny couldn't do enough for us to make sure our stay was smooth and lovely. The houses are well stocked, with everything you could need to entertain and enjoy the beauty of the area. The kids can run around the property and explore in the safety of the retreat. Thanks Jenny we absolutely loved our stay! Just gorgeous. We will be back :)

120 bushland acres with abundant birdlife and wildlife, minutes to many cellar doors, restaurants, concert venues and Hunter Valley favourites including Hunter Olive Centre, Hunter Valley Chocolate Company, Smelly Cheese Shop, Blue Tongue Brewery and Hunter Valley Gardens.
We spent two days in this wonderful peaceful haven. Our cabin was fresh and clean & had everything one would need including a breakfast basket which included freshly laid eggs. The birdlife was astounding, it was beautiful to awaken to a chorus of birdsong and then to watch the antics of the birds during the day. The spa was delightful as were the surroundings. The nearby lookouts were a complete surprise, for although we had visited the wine growing areas many times we had never ventured on to the mount View Road and were therefore unprepared for the superb views. Our direct booking was a breeze as the owners Jannene and Brett were more than helpful. It was a pleasure to stay here and we highly recommend a stay.

We stayed at Hermitage Hideaway for a family member’s birthday weekend. The house was spotless and comfortable with everything we needed. The views were stunning and the pool was just the right temperature for a swim on an Autumn afternoon. We were made welcome by James and Rachel and could not have asked for better hosts.
