A mistical paradise island lost in the Caribbean. Come and live the magic: crystal sea water, white sand beach, wild life animals walking next to you and the amazing flavour of our Caribbean gastronomy. Respect for nature led us to build 3 different "houses" that merge with the exuberant surroundings of the Caribbean, letting those whom rest here live a 360º experience.
This island is already a destination off the beaten track (less than half a km2 in size!) and the hotel is also not your every day hotel. But you know that when you book it and that's why you book it. However, priding yourself in being laid-back is fine, until 'laid-back' becomes 'lazy.' It seems all the staff that have interaction with the guests - apart from occasionally the person behind the bar - are ex-pats. At least some of them on a scheme that offers work experience abroad on a voluntary base. And when I was there, in one instance that showed. The person did not seem it necessary to make an effort. And when that person at some point becomes a link in a chain of command, things go wrong because this particular employee couldn't care less. The toilet in my cabin (which did not have a toilet seat btw), did not function, I reported it, it went through this person, so nothing happened. And we specifically chose (and paid for) a cabin with private bathroom. On the other hand, the other employees were professional or very nice. So should I let one bad apple justify a bad review? One thing: when you are a small establishment, one bad apple can make a big difference. Maybe there is an issue with motivating the ex-pat staff.

My family and me booked this day trip to this beach, they offered private beach, chairs, welcoming coctel, drinks and food. When we arrived to the beach the small group they offer to be, turning in a full patch with a lot of people and not enough services to provide. This people not only didn’t delivery their promise but also was very rude and un polite. When we try to ask for what we paid they in repeat occasions tell us, that didn’t was their problem and also also said that we need to fix the problem ourselves. I do not recommend to anyone take the risk to go there, go somewhere else

Is a beautiful colonial house, located in the historic city center, close from the sea in the traditional neighborhood Gethsemani.Has 4 exclusive and confortable rooms each 27m2 large, all equiped with: Double Beds, private bathroom, Air cond., fan, Wi-Fi, LCD TV with TV cable, telephone. The house offers an nice courtyard, where you can enjoy outdoor breakfast, sunbathe, read, drink, etc.
+ Very good location, close to the vibrant Plaza de la Trinidad with its great street food and lively atmosphere; simple and (daily!) clean rooms; TV and A/C, nice little courtyard with plants and shade; great breakfast: all freshly prepared by one of the employees: tasty arepas and eggs, fresh fruit, juice and coffee. Both employees we met were very nice and attentive! + We were very lucky to get one of the rooms looking to the courtyard: spectacularly quiet given all the noise coming from close-by Plaza de la Trinidad… We suppose the two rooms on the street side are not as comfortable for that reason. The house is super calm, which we really appreciated. Important note: it is much more a «casa» than a hotel, with only four rooms, a corridor/hall and open kitchen next to the courtyard. It is important to know this, since there is no real reception or present staff all day/night long. – We were asked for our arrival time on Booking which we gave, yet when arriving at the front door – without bell - no one came to open after knocking… until a young guest very nicely came up to do it. Inside we then met one employee, who was actually unaware of our arrival. She was very nice and concerned, and then quickly finished preparing the room. So a little bit disorganised on that part from the administration… – We were informed upon arrival that only payment by cash is accepted, which is not what is mentioned on Booking. Fortunately, another employee had a little card-reading device with her so luckily we could pay by card. It seems there is a bit of a grey zone there (see other comments from guests regarding this). It would be a great disadvantage to not be able to pay by card, since you get to such large sums in Colombian pesos and you do not really want to walk around with huge rolls of money... – For longer stays, bear in mind that the breakfast will be the same everyday, between arepas and toasts with eggs, but juice and fruit might slightly vary. For people with special diets it is not very accommodating. – The whole «casa» could get a brush of fresh paint as it seems worn down. The mattress was old and had a broken spring. It would make a great difference if the state of things was in better shape, even if the whole house remains simple and modest.

My girlfriend and I loved our 1 night stay here. It was just the two of us staying at the hostel which probably made it even more tranquil. The accommodation is basic and it was at times challenging sleeping under a mosquito net, in the heat, without air conditioning or a fan, but we enjoyed the simple life for one night. The guy who worked at the hostel was extremely helpful and made sure we were happy at all times. He didn’t speak much English but we all patiently communicated through Google Translate. He arranged for our boat trip back to Cartagena. The toilet and showers were basic but were far nicer than others I found on Playa Blanca.

THE HOSTAL DONDE ALCIDES unique place located in front of the sea of seven colors, in this place the tourists enjoy a quiet stay and relaxation; This hostel is designed for visitors to enjoy the landscape and the natural environment offered by the island of Baru, caring for the environment and contributing to the sustainability of the natural hahita, located on the white beach, Cartagena Colombia

Eco Hotel resort on the most beautiful island Colombia has to offer. Private bungalows in front of the beach as well as kiosks in the air give Hotel Isla Mucura a sense of magic in paradise
What a pleasant surprise to see that the hotel has been upgraded since the website photos were done. An amazing island and great accommodation. AC rooms with outside showers. There was lots of space and it wasn't crowded. The beach was small but lovely, with white sand and turquoise sea (with patches of sea grass). The layout of beach beds and seats has been well thought out. There is even a large outdoor games area with a big Jenga, table tennis, connect 4, bean bag game (no idea what that us called!). The snorkeling is not great to be honest. The coral is non existent, and personally wouldn't do the snorkel trip. Kayaking around Island was fun though. We are vegetarian, and this was the only negative. Breakfast was good, but there were no vegetarian options for other meals (apart from eggs). In fact we are plant based back home, but you can forget avoiding dairy here!! The most enjoyable part of the stay were ALL THE STAFF!!! What a happy bunch they all are!!! They really made us all welcome, and for us, excellent service is the most important aspect of a resort. Thank you all so much.
