Sora Lodge Lalibela is a German-Ethiopian family-run hotel that has been open since October 2013. We have modern, spacious single, double and twin rooms with hot showers, comfortable beds and large verandas. We are located within walking distance of 15 minutes to the Southern group of churches and 20 minutes to the Northern group of churches and offer daily shuttles from Lalibela Airport (about 35 minutes by car). What makes our lodge unique are its location and the breathe-taking view. All rooms have two large verandas facing towards east and west from where our guests can see Lalibela’s biggest mountain, “Asheten Mariam”, and watch the sunrise as well as the sunset.
We, my wife and me, stayed at Sora lodge for 4 days at the end of April 2022. Really an amazing place to stay, maybe the best place we’ve enjoyed in Ethiopia during our three weeks holiday. They have a generator as long as the power plant central of Lalibela has been destroyed during conflict (this is the only thing that will remind you that there were a war in the country) everything is safe and Lalibela archeological site is really a dream. We recommend our guide Alex (mobile and WhatsApp +251 92 262 7352) he is very prepared and know each hidden corner of Lalibela and surrounding sites. Sora lodge has also a very good restaurant with a really nice views. Don’t book tuctuc at the reception because prices will be more than double: walk 3 minutes up to the main road and catch a tuctuc there. Ethiopia need tourism start again, we’ve travelled all over the country without any problem everything is safe!

First class all the way!! Staff are super helpful and friendly! Location is perfect, 10 minutes walk from the churches, and the hotel is amazing!! Rooms are large, beautiful and very clean. Breakfast was delicious. My wife loved the papaya juice very much. Parking is available inside the compound. Can’t wait to come back.

This facility is comprised of separate lodges - small houses, really. Airy, bright and well-appointed. There is a pool and a restaurant on the property. Although it's showing some wear and tear, and I would not vouch for the lack of bugs, it's a good place to stay near Gonder.

Magnificent views upon entering the compound you will notice a sudden change on the weather a cool breeze will greet you in, you will hear birds sing and you will be amazed when you see there beauty relaxing on your balcony enjoying a sip from our wine collection unforgettable stay away from the crowed of the city A place for romance, bird watching and relaxing.
The room was comfortable in lovely gardens, though the bathroom needed updating. Good wi-fi in the room. Very tasty pasta in the restaurant, although they seem to want to leave not long after easting (to be fair, there weren't many people there)

The Degosach Eco Lodge is a community based, ecologically sustainable eco-lodge Located 22km outside lalibela. We stand-in culture experience, nature, fresh food and outstanding service Our Tukuls are scattered over a 4 hectare Plateau in a "lost world" abundant with wildlife, breathtaking views and dramatic pink sunsets. Degosach Eco Lodge is about rest, reflection and cultural immersion. Surr
I booked the hiking trip and stayed at the Eco Lodge as a single (female) traveler, assuming there would be other travelers to enjoy the fire, meals and traditional dances with. When I arrived (it's a 40-50 minute hike up the mountain, which is gorgeous) they told me I was the only guest. This doesn't need to be a problem, but it was little uncomfortable as the 5 local men who where there only spoke Amharic with each other. They were looking at me, seemingly making jokes to each other, which can be funny if you understand it, but uncomfortable when you don't (at least for me). There was one woman, who cooked food, which was nice and the view from the plateau was stunning. The overall experience was one-of-a-kid, but when you are traveling alone, you might want to confirm with the agency that there will be English speaking people, so you have a clou what they are talking about. The list of amenities mentions things that aren't there, like high-speed internet, bath/shower, free parking, horseback riding, etc. Please be advised that there is no electricity, running water or cellphone reception (let alone wifi). I didn't mind that, but I would have charged my devices and camera beforehand if I would have known.

I can't recommend this Lodge at all. At the last day of our stay somehow a passport and two creditcards disappeared. The staff was not helpfull at all in that case. Maybe because there was some money next to that passport. Be aware.

It was my first time to visit Gondar and looking through hotels online to book was something I was doing for couple of days. From all the reviews of hotels I was amazed about four sisters and decided to stay for one night and change the next day since I belived it's a small hotel with no views. The great hospitality started from the shuttle driver, then when we arrive at the gate every staff was outside to welcome us with great smile? The inn is clean, modern and I wasn't happy about the room without an outdoor space, Solomon the receptionist didn't even wait until i finish explaining about my question when he offered a different room, I decoded to change the hotel the next day to have a swimming pool and great view day @ Doha lodge, but I ended up going back to the inn with big disappointment of the hotel? You are going to Gondar then four sisters is the only place to feel home
