Hands down one of the best places we’ve stayed. We’ve traveled the world and this hotel is unmatched. The quality of service exceeded that of a five star hotel. Tai and his family are simply wonderful. He was our personal concierge, food, history and culture guide. From the moment he picked us up at the station, to him helping us purchase our return train tickets home, the care, hospitality and kindness was unmatched. The lodging is also outstanding and the beds were very comfortable. The home is beautifully restored with quality art and a calming outdoor koi pond. The house is immaculate and our private bathroom was lovely. The hotel has a beautiful view of the mountains. We were lucky enough to be there for the golden fall leaves and some early snow. We chose to have breakfast included which was exceptional and the best we’ve had in Japan. To give you an idea of the level of care, it started to snow and Tai provided us hand warmers, umbrellas and arranged lunch reservations our outing. Then he checked in on us on later in the day for a pickup and had a roaring fire with treats waiting for us when we got back. Wonderful stay!!

The inn of travel where old streets, Takayama jinya and Hida no Sato pause in the quiet grove at the location also convenient for access of the sightseeing tour of the city at 10 minutes by car from Hida-takayama city. The color tone is unified and a guest room is the very quiet environment that a natural thicket can be looked around from a window of every room. There are 2 reserved baths, and the bath can have use it every your room, so please heal fatigue of travel comfortably freely. You can use an open space of a wellhole freely as a place of reading and talking. Good meal and wine with the local ingredients, and, warmth, you're entertaining and I'm waiting.
We stayed there for a couple of nights and enjoyed the dinner on the first night. Everything was perfect: the location, the high level dinner, the rooms and obviously the kindness of the staff. We will definitely go back there when we visit the family in Gifu prefecture.

Every aspect of our stay at J-Garden was outstanding. The owners are very professional, but also very friendly. From waking up on a rainy day and find umbrellas at the door, to standing in the rain to show us where breakfast was served on the first day. All fittings in our villa were of the finest quality, from the big comfy bed, gorgeous big pillows, super flush toilet with bidet, and warm surroundings that made it feel like we were at home. The private onsen is amazing, like being in a tropical jungle! And to top it off, the bath in the villa is onsen water, so you can enjoy a bath anytime you like. We didnt have a car, but no problem, the owners picked us up and dropped us off at the station, and even drove us to the supermarket on the second day to get some things. Free bbq service is available, but it rained for most of our stay. Love J-Garden!

I stayed at the Dormy Inn for 3 nights during the rugby World Cup. First let me state that there is very little to do in Kakegawa apart from visiting the castle, so if you are heading here as a tourist there are probably better places to stay. Back to the hotel ! I arrived a little early (around 12) and my room was not available , so I had to leave my bags in reception and wait until around 3pm to get my key. There was no issue with the language barrier. The hotel is not far from the station with a 10 minute walk along the main road getting you there. The room itself was average size for Japan, but the outlook from the window was pretty bleak onto a back alley. However, it was clean and comfortable there were no issues with the exception of the pillows which were rock hard. All amenities were available in the room although the sink being in the bedroom rather than the shower area was a little strange. The Wi-fi was perfect, but dont look for any English language station on the TV as there was none. In terms of restaurant, there is one for breakfast with a reasonable selection of both Western and Japanese food. I never saw it open during the day or evening. However, as a bonus it does open up around 9.30 in the evening with free ramen noodles for the hungry. Coffee is always available on demand in the foyer which is another good point. On top of the hotel is a typical Japanese thermal bath...great for the aches after a busy day ! All in all a good hotel for the price.....

If you have the opportunity to call into this hotel make sure you visit the onsen. There are a variety of hot spas, plunge pool, small heated pool for swimming, hot stones in a sauna room to lay on. There are plenty of products and spare towels inside for washing hair and body, hair dryer for after and hotel clothes so you may take a break downstairs, enjoy a meal or snack then return for another dip. Make sure you allow at least an hour to experience all on offer.

Loved it here! Was a great hotel with cute little quirks that show that the hosts love the local area. Was sad to leave and go back to Tokyo. I have allergies and told them in advance. The food was incredible. I find it very rare for allergies to be catered for in Japan so it was a wonderful surprise the effort they put in to the food. The meals were incredible and so much food! The host speaks very good English which is a handy plus if you are a tourist.

Stayed here for one day on my business trip. The staff were very polite and helped us. The hotel is located at a close proximity to JR station and 45mins approx from Nagoya airport. Rooms were clean and tidy. Bed was comfortable. Breakfast was complimentary. It was good. Room was very small. Added advantage was free wifi.
