Located on Miyajima (Itsukushima), Miyajima Guest House Mikuniya offers a Japanese-style accommodation and a small garden. Free Wi-Fi and bicycle rentals are available. Miyajima Ferry Terminal is a 15-minute walk away. Mikuniya Miyajima Guest House is a 6-minute walk from Itsukushima Shrine and Daisho-in Temple. Guests can also walk to Marine Plaza Miyajima within a 10-minute walk. A simple Western-style breakfast consisting of break, jam and coffee is available in the kitchen. Lunches and Dinners are not served, but guests are welcome to bring their own food and use the kitchen to prepare meals.
The place is so nice, and the owner very kind. A nice guy - probably his son - takes care of the welcoming, and gives suggestions on the activities around the island. The house is very nice with a nice garden before the door and a big hall at the entrance full of many suggestive Japanese decorations and statues. On the left a big room full of sofas and other decorations and also tourist guides in many languages to help the guest, with tv and tables, and also a kitchen with cereals and juices for the guests to be used. Stairs take you to the rooms where you can experience how a Japanese ryokan is, with short tables, cushions on the floor, big windows and bamboo walls. The room has a initial anti room with a small table and a wardrobe where to store futons and pillows, and a second wider room enough for three futons, with other two short tables, and big windows over the entire island, with two big chairs and a small sink. The toilet and the showers are shared though, and for the bravest there is also a bath with hot water where to relax (but I do not know how and how many times do they clean it). I loved the atmosphere ?

An old house built over 100years ago has revivd as a guest house where you can experience Japanese culture. Stay at "Shimachi an"and enjoy the beautiful Wold Heritage Miyajima journey enjoy every season.
What an amazing experience, if you want to find out what it is like to stay traditionally in a place within 5 minutes walk of the shrine on a beautiful island this is the place for you. Yes you do share your bathroom and toilet with other guests but it is only a two bedroom guest house, meaning if you are travelling as a pair you might share but if you are a family or take up both rooms the entire house is yours. Your hosts are beautiful kind people who are more than helpful when you would like to know anything. My friend and I stayed two nights which was perfect amount of time to explore the island and enjoy the guesthouse. We cannot make a higher recommendation for this accomodation or our hosts.

Kaniwa is a self-service style establishment; guests make their own beds upon check-in, remove the sheets at check-out, and there are no meals served at the guesthouse. At night on Miyajima, barely any cars drive by, so guests can experience a silent night rarely found in the city. We hope you come experience the luxury of “nothingness.”
The hostel is in such a peaceful location, super close to the ferry and it is so lovely to spend time on the island after everyone has left. The rooms are very comfortable and the bathroom facilities are great and very clean. The only things that I found could be improved would be perhaps an offering of even a basic breakfast as it is so difficult to get breakfast on the island early in the morning and also to have some better security as the rooms have no locks, although lockers with locks for smaller items are provided and some of the day there is no one on reception, although I can see that the area is particularly safe. They also allow bags to be left just by reception on the day of checking out, however if no one is at reception then someone could easily walk in the front door and take bags with no one catching them. This being said I would definitely return to the hostel if I returned to Hiroshima area.

Diphylleia Grayi is a guest house set in Hatsukaichi and boasts a terrace and a shared lounge. The accommodation is just a 2-minute walk from Ajina-Higashi Station. On-site luggage storage space is provided for guests during their stay. Free WiFi is provided throughout the property. Free private parking is available on site. The ground floor includes wheelchair accessible guest rooms, shared toilet and living room. There is a shared kitchen where guests can cook on the 2nd floor. Guests can enjoy the view of Seto Inland Sea from the shared lounge on the 2nd floor. The rooms in the guest house have a private bathroom equipped with a shower and free toiletries. A Continental breakfast can be enjoyed in the breakfast area. Bicycles can be rented on site for an additional fee. Ajina Station is a 10-minute walk away from the guest house. Miyajima Island, also known as Itsukushima, is approximately a 25-minute train and ferry ride away.
I found this to be the most overpriced accommodation during our time in Japan. Cost almost $150AUD for one night, for what is basiclly a glorified private dorm, it was not worth the money. Room is very small and basic, you had to use the sink in the shower! Staff were extremely kind and helpful and based on their service alone would be 5 stars. Note that property is not located on Mirajima island, however is around 12mins wlk from the train station, which is then only 5mins to ferry. Use as a base for the island, otherwise I would stay in Hiroshima itself which is much cheaper and has a lot more to see and do.
