Thalatta Beach & Dive Resort, a resort, hotel, restautant, located 25 kms from Dumaguete, in Maluay, close to Malatapay, Zamboanguita. We are facing Apo Island, one of the most famous diving spots in the Philippines. It only takes 15 minutes to Apo Island from the resort.
I came here for 19 nights to rest up and go diving. The diving is superb - I love macro and am a photographer - some amazing critters to photograph. This is probably one of the all round best diving resorts I have ever been to. It’s not the welcome you receive - although that is excellent. It’s not the quality, furnishings, comfort of the rooms - although that is excellent. It’s not the layout of the resort - with cottages around the excellent pool - although that is excellent. It’s not the amazing restaurant and bar with the most extensive and reasonably priced menu - although that is excellent. It’s not the dive centre with modern equipment, excellent training facilities, convenient rinse tanks, storage area and camera room - although those are excellent. It’s not the dive boats with their spacious facilities and shelter from all weather conditions - although those are excellent. If it was just everything listed above you would give this a 4 or 5 - because everything above is excellent. What makes the difference here is the people. The owner - Patrick shows true leadership - is always around during peak times - waves every boat off, greets them back, always supporting his people. The people genuinely care about you and alter their service to suit your needs. Nothing is too much trouble. It is the people that make the difference here. To Patrick and the the team - I salute you all. What you have created here over 35 years is truly special and unique. Thank you

More than one hundred steps lead down to Kookoo’s nest Eco-lodge, which comprises of six simple, comfortable, native-style bamboo beach cottages and rooms, with a central restaurant. They are set in a pocket of woodland that slopes steeply down to the edge of a small secluded sandy cove, facing the sunset. The buildings have been beautifully constructed by artisans from the village using traditional techniques, from locally sourced bamboo and the leaves of the Nipa-palm. The ladies from the village prepare excellent fresh food for the restaurant and see to guest’s everyday needs, while their husbands tend the herb gardens, carry provisions, and drive the boats. A small dive-shop offers tuition and diving on the beautiful coral reefs that surround the peninsula. Snorkeling gear is available for those who do not dive, and Kayaks can be rented for exploring Tambobo bay, fishing village and remote beaches.
Stunning relaxed hideaway. Beautiful beach and house reef. Excellent home cooked food. Stayed in the new ‘Heron’ cottage: set at the far end of the beach up some steps it is delightfully peaceful, well appointed and has incredible full sea views. Highly recommend coming to stay at Kookoo’s.

The well maintained resort with a personal touch is a wonderful place to unwind. If you’re looking for a place to relax, Wellbeach Dive Resort is the place to go.Twenty minutes from Dumaguete center, on the island Negros. (Negros Oriental).
Booked last minute for an overnight to escape the latest brown out, and took advantage of their boat trip to Southern NegOr dive sites which were new to many on-board. Capably managed by the owners Guido and Marevic with a friendly and helpful staff, the food and shakes were great. Room adequate with good water pressure, altho the bed was pretty firm. A pool (billiards) table was a nice addition, altho MacMac is a total pool shark ?

A small beautiful beach resort 35 minutes drive from Dumaguete city, the perfect place to spend your holiday or just a day trip with friends and family.
Location is great, facilities are clean and appealing. The restaurant was not good for the western dishes that I ate as well as the couple joining us. The front desk made it quite clear that check out was at 12. No late check out. No putting our bags in our car and using the facilities. (which was a good thing based on the food) in all fairness our wives enjoyed the food they had which was local dishes. My friend and I are not new to the Philippines. I have lived here 5 years and he has been here 10. We have been to many resorts on various islands including the one we live on. We stayed at the resort next door 1 month ago and it was excellent. I really wanted this place to be as good. Unfortunately I was disappointed and never felt welcome at all.

We visited on a Sunday, the following day was a holiday, so it was very busy. Actually, much busier than I would have thought allowed with covid restrictions, many appeared to have booked rooms. With it being so busy, you'd think they would be strictly enforcing restrictions, but that wasn't the case, their waiting staff weren't even wearing masks. I wonder what precautions they were taking for food preparations. We were there because of the whole day electrical blackout in the area, to relax and eat. We ordered a variety of foods, including hummus with falafel. There were two or three so called Israeli dishes on the menu too. Having worked in Iraq, Qatar, Dubai and Jordan, I have a pretty good idea what authentic hummus, falafel and the bread should be like. The hummus was fairly good, if a little on the bland side, bread was good though not authentic. The falafel was strange, I've only every had it in balls, these were like medallions and rather overcooked. The rest of the food was typical Filipino dishes and ok, with being anything special. Prices were reasonable and portions were good enough.

Situated in the Zamboanguita area, Mahi Mahi Dive Resort is the perfect place to experience Dumaguete and its surroundings. BOOK SOMEWHERE ELSE! We spent 3 weeks in 8 accommodations, and this is the only one we weren't happy with! BEWARE - tax is charged on top of the price that you see online. This is not the same for Philippine-owned hotels, only for this Russian-owned hotel. RUSSIAN OWNER ARGUED WITH ME OVER FOOD - in a painful situation that I struggle to forget, I ordered ribs. The smallest portion of ribs you've ever seen came out, and I ate them. I then asked if that was a full portion or not, and suggested that it must have been a starter portion. The female Russian owner came over and argued the toss with me for 20 mins at the table! I tried to back out of it and say I'd pay, but she wanted to continue to make my night even more depressing. DON'T BOOK THIS HOTEL! Ok, from the top... the place has a depressing atmosphere. The Russian owners are always sat, smoking in the non-smoking area, creating a strange, unfriendly atmosphere in the outdoor restaurant. People in the Philippines are happy, but all of the staff here seem depressed! The waitresses can't forge a smile, and the reception staff can't even manage to make a phone call to find a boat to the next island for you. We tried for 45 mins, and I ended up working it out myself! Some of the portions of food are small and EXTORTIONATELY over-priced. Wild dogs bark all night, like you've never heard in your life. The diving instructors are the most work-shy we saw in the Philippines. We attended a scuba trip just to snorkel on Apo Island, and unfortunately the instructors tried to end the trip after just two dives, which was at 1.30pm. We'd arrived at Apo at 1030. After discussion with the instructors, they agreed to stay another hour, but they made sure it was painful for us.

A truly tropical Philippines paradise beach Dive Resort. Located in Zamboanguita, close to Dumaguete, the resort is accessible but yet affords peace and tranquility. Lush gardens, private beach, two bars and an international restaurant await our guests. Our dive shop is a registered PADI Dive Resort and as such we can assure guests of high quality diver education, amazing fun-dive experiences locally and at Apo Island, as well as snorkel trips to see the turtles.
We went to Dumaguete for a friends visit, and she recommended this resort. We came ahead of check in time, the area is very clean & quite but refused to check in us early..though we understand as part of resorts policy. After 15min of waiting they let us check in early :) I like the pool bar cozy and quiet , I’m a pizza person and their pizza is to die for. They managed also our take away breakfast since our flight for the next day is so early.

We went for dinner with family and we opted this one out of the many in Dauin because they are pet friendly. The social media managers are very much responsive and helpful during our inquiries, the food was decent although there are no seafood because they are fighting for a cause, and the ambiance is just to relaxing because it is facing the beach. I would wanna go back again soon maybe for an overnight stay or so.
