1 minute walk from Yakushima airport. Japanese-style building that has a hot spring. I look forward to welcoming you.
I stayed in a western twin room as a solo traveller - it was a good size with a separate raised area with a mat and table. Also had it's own shower and toilet. All of the staff were very friendly and went out of their way to be helpful on multiple occasions e.g. came and found me to let me know the latest situation with Yakusugi Land after I had enquired earlier (there was an incoming typhoon) and walked me over to the bus stop after I couldn't find it (the map didn't show the bus stop as being right outside the airport). The staff were also a great help explaining ferry schedules and the bus timetable/system (not great as infrequent although of course nothing to do with the hotel). I stayed 3 nights (one more than originally intended due to the typhoon) and dinner was great (and different) each night - a variety of small to medium-size dishes (sashimi, fish cooked in a variety of ways, clams, pork, shabu shabu) together with rice, soup, dessert and tea. Breakfast was also good (although not as good as dinner) with a good selection of items. There is an inside and outside onsen. Main two things for improvement from my perspective: -the mattress was a bit hard for my liking -the WiFi was slow and I had more luck using the 4G connection on my phone most of the time

A dining room, a kitchen, living, a refrigerator, You can use it . I prepared for the room Ashley's queen-size bed. Lighting and furniture imported. Teatime is carried out, looking at a Mottyom mountain on a terrace, or it goes into the open-air bath of the quality of an alkaline spring containing radon, metasilicic acid, etc., -- Please relax slowly.
After travelling in south western Japan for a while this was a perfect place to relax, the gardens are lush, beautifully laid out and have great mountain views, the outdoor spring fed bath took the relaxation to a higher level! The house itself is a lovely, comfortable well crafted building, we dined in, enjoying the quiet evenings, the kitchen has everything you'd need and the Acoop supermarket in nearby Anbo is well stocked. If you don't hire a car it's an easy walk from the bus stop to Hana Mana and the bus service is, as you'd expect, very good. If you enjoy gardens you'll love Hana Mana and you'll enjoy the Botanical Research Park, just a stroll down the road.

I just stayed here for four nights during a hiking trip to wonderful Yakushima. While booking, I chose the "new building" option and it turned out to be great with immaculately clean facilities. Showers and kitchen are all new and very modern looking. The room was also a decent size. I also liked the location of the new building located few minutes walk away from the restaurant area. Highly recommended. It is a great gem for the price.

Cottage Morinokokage is little cottages in Funayuki. There are 10 individual cottages, and 4 different types of room are available. Amenities are TV, air-conditioner, refrigerator, electric pot, dryer, Japanese Tea Set, bath & shower (inc. shampoo, hair conditioner, body soap, and hand wash soap), toilet, hammock, garden table, low rebound mattress & pillow, free parking space, laundromat in property, and smoke free in the room. It is located between Anbo and Miyanoura, where easy access to main sightseeing spot such as Jomonsugi and Shiratani Unsuikyo. Only 5 mins drive from Anbo port, 8 mins drive from Yakushima air port, and 20mins drive from Miyanoura port. There is excellent mountain(Myoujou-dake & Funayuki-maedake) view from each rooms, and shining star can be seen at night. Walking distance to seashore to see beautiful sunrise and Tanegashima island. Breakfast, BBQ, early Bento delivery, local restaurant, taxi, rental car can be arranged.
Already before we arrived, our host Mr Ryosaku Nakashima contacted us to let us know the easiest ways to get to the compound, and travel time from the harbour. While we were taking the ferry across to the island, he helped me plan car rental via mail so we could save time when we arrived. We arrived two hours before check in time, but since we haf told him our estimated arrival time in advance, he had the cabin ready for us already then so we could check in immediately. After a warm welcome, and thorough tour of compound and room he quickly arranged a rental car for us, which was delivered to the compound soon after. He gave us valuable tips for things to do and see, and booked a sea turtle tour for us. Due to some rain and bad weather when we visited, the tour was cancelled twice, but he always kept us updated on the weather forecast, and rebooked the tour for us. And so eventually we got to see the sea turtles laying eggs on the beach the day before we left. We were taken excellent care of, and supplied with everything we could need (including shoe-dryer when we returned soaked from a rainy hike!) from the ever friendly and smiling staff. We stayed for 4 nights, and will gladly come back if we return to Yakushima in the future. We would heartily recommend staying here to anyone looking for a quiet and comfortable stay on the island, and a good base for enjoying all the island has to offer. Thank you for your excellent service and hotel, and we hope to return one day! Regards, Fredrik and Ingvild

A small hotel with only 2 rooms in Yakushima, a World Heritage Site. All amenities are organic and special bedding and towels are also available.
It was my first trip to Yakushima with my family and a friend couple who leaving Japan soon. I went to Yakushima with very little prep (we watched "Princess Mononoke" again and read about some hiking trails, that's about it...) but thanks to the owner of this hotel (she guided us and showed us a lot!), it became an unforgettable trip for us. The hotel is minimum and only has two guess rooms and shared living room but beautiful just like the image in the photos, but thing we enjoyed most there was the friendliness and welcoming energy of the owner. her great personality made our island experience very special. Breakfast they served was great too. The home-grown organic vegetables were sweat and delicious! Eggs from 2 hens they have there and homemade bread were delicious too. There were awesome Onsens (hot springs) near the hotel (5mins by car). The mid-night hot spring experience under the stars and with sound of waves sent us to another world, and the other one the owner of the hotel highly recommended, Onoaida Onsen was very special too! Although the water is quite hot, it was very good onsen water you can enjoy in the historical and nostalgic atmosphere. The living space that guests can use freely was also great spot at the hotel. There were many books such as music, travel, photos, all other kind of art and food, including the magazines called "Saunter" which were issued by the owner's husband, and this is fantastic space to relax and spend time on a rainy day. Big resort hotels may be great too, but you experience another level of happiness which is perfect especially for your Yakushima island trip at this hotel. I cannot describe all we had there, so I recommend you to try it yourself by visiting the island and staying with the,! I'm sure that we will visit there again.

I had an amazing experience in Yakushima, and that is in large part because of this great guesthouse. Shigeru-san and his wife Hitomi are the best hosts you could ever hope for, and their warmth and kindness is what made the stay such a nice experience. We were not very well prepared and were without a car, and they went way, way, way out of their way to help us out in ways we would have never imagined. Besides the amazing hosts, everything else is excellent. The house is very new and everything is very clean. The bedding is tatami style and very comfortable. We were a bit worried about not having our own bathroom, but this wasn't a big deal at all. The bathrooms are regularly cleaned and the shower was always spotless when we used it. The location is also good, maybe a 15 minute walk to the port, and 10 minute walk from a small supermarket (there are no convenience stores). Finally, we highly recommend trying Hitomi's food, which was delicious, with many local fresh ingredients. There are good restaurants nearby too, but eating Hitomi's food is a must, and a good value.

The Kaisui is five minutes up the small hill from the ferry port and the information center, on the left, after the first traffic light, past a small parking lot in front. So it's very conveniently located. If not in your room package (it may be in all, but I was surprised to learn breakfast was included) it's well-worth the price for a decent breakfast. Do settle on a breakfast time on arrival, which I didn't. The washing machine here (and the detergent) are free, and the dryer costs very little. A convenient place to stay. My room had an in-suite shower and toillet, though not all may. Can easily imagine others giving it an excellent rating; it's a close call.
