We were here for 5 days, the hotel was fineand in the heart of Vire. Beds are great, it was clean, breakfast was ok. Good and quiet hotel for a short trip. The W-Lan was a bit slow but that didn‘t matter really. The rooms are a bit small but if you‘ re travelling alone its ok.

Basic but comfortable, other than the room which smelt strongly of smoke. This was quite unpleasant. Previous occupants had obviously been smoking in there Food was ok with good choice at dinner and breakfast buffets.

A good functional hotel in a great location in Vire. Whilst the hotel doesn’t have specific rooms for disabled guests they did all they could to help and the lift to the rooms is a good size and easy to use for those with reduced mobility. The rooms are good sized and whilst the bathroom in the room I had could use a refresh it was clean and well appointed and perfectly suited to an overnight stay. The hotel has a good restaurant to and would recommend eating dinner in the hotel as it has a good menu with good choice of starters, mains and deserts at a good price. Very tasty. Breakfast is basic but plentiful and the coffee was great!

I was staying at La Maison de la Fontaine with a group of friends as part of a cycling tour through Normandy. I found the place on the web a bit by accident but what a find!! Sandrine and Christophe are excellent hosts and made us all very welcome. Our bikes were securely put away for the night and Cristophe even managed to assist us in fixing my bike. We had a very relaxing pre-dinner drink in the peaceful garden. The evening meal was a surprise but we all absolutely loved it: all hotel guests (6 of us plus 2 (French) couples shared the big dining room table with Cristophe and Sandrine at the head of the table. The meal itself was delicious - Cristophe had made an effort to produce a delicious 'special' for me as a vegetarian which is not the norm in France! My friends were very complementary about their meal which featured local produce. The whole dining experience was memorable with a choice of locally sourced beverages. Breakfast was equally delicious and ample. Last but not least, this place offers incredible value for money: I will be back!

We were a family of 5 cycling on Tour de Manche and stayed for this me night after a long day’s cycle. Upon arrival the owner quickly showed us the room, told us we were unable to use the other facilities (kitchen area etc) and then rapidly moved on to asking for cash payment. The room was not great at all - v squeaky beds, the bed my son slept on collapsed during the night, one of the other beds squeaked so much it disrupted everyone’s sleep. The daughter was helpful in arranging taxis in and out of town for dinner. Other than that very inhospitable and ungenerous in every way. The owner stood watching the whole time during breakfast waiting for us to leave, similar experience to other reviews. The breakfast itself consisted of sour fizzy fruit juice, rotting fruit, bread and hot drinks. We left to eat in town to get another breakfast. Wouldn’t recommend at all to anyone, find somewhere else as is not relaxing, poor hospitality and overall unwelcoming atmosphere.
